My name is Gary Holbrook and i am the founder of our webgroup.  It is now family owned by me, my 4 beautiful children, and one granddaughter.  We also have a photographer ( Steve ), an outdoor expert ( Jack ), and a resident artist ( Larry ).

GarysWorld began in 2005 with a small website with a few pictures, and some reference material,  We got a few friends and an occasional new visitor.  Like most little sites starting out we didn't have a clue on getting visitors.  Three years later we have expanded the GarysWorld brand on a number of social and business sites for more exposure.  We started getting a few more visitors toward the end of 2007.  The real story about our sites hit us like a bullet in March 2008.  To my surprise i woke up early one morning, which is typical for me, turned on my computer, and for no real reason went to Google Search.  I love to research so that was probably why i was there.  Never having really thought about it before, i started checking generic terms for Appalachia as i run an Appalachian blog.  When i typed in the search phrase 'Best Appalachian Blogs' i about had a heart attack.  GarysWorld 'Appalachia' blog on Blogger was listed #1.  Further checking of terms found us #1 in alot of Appalachian search phrases.  Anyone that makes the first page on Google for generic searches knows how i was feeling.  I was so excited i called all the kids and told them to go to Google.  Since then we have stayed #1 with the 'Appalachia' blog, and in addition GarysWorld USA and our GarysWorld Widget Center has even hit #1 in the last month.  It is simply a dream come true for a little hillbilly group of sites.

THE GARYSWORLD MISSION

GarysWorld is a multi purpose group of sites, which we believe is the actual 'FUTURE OF THE INTERNET'.  Through countless hours of research we have found that there are no ways for small web owners to get rich quick on the internet.  Learning from trial and error we decided to use 'our ideas' to build this new website.  Listening to all the hype you see everyday on the internet taught us lessons about what a small website needs to have.  What are 'GARYSWORLD'S SECRETS' ? 

There are no secrets except alot of hard work and dedication to what you believe in.  One thing you need to remember is this.  Returning visitors are your biggest asset.  Traffic exchanges, buying traffic, affiliate programs, and countless other programs will never work without returning visitors.

So how do you get visitors to return?  It's really simple in our opinion.  If you are enjoying what you put on the screen, those visitors that like the same things will be back.  If you don't enjoy what is on your sites how in the world can you expect the person you are aiming your programs at to return to your websites.

Why did GarysWorld decide to use a multi interest approach?  Because from studying well organized small websites we found they all have some things in common.  Outstanding themes, interesting content, and a stated purpose.  If our site is multi interest then it stands to reason that we will draw a wider audience of visitors.  If you reach that one person with something unique at your sites, there is your returning prospect.  Pretty 'simple approach', but it works for us.

We have worked really long and hard to integrate our programs, and make it easier to find things.  Alot of information is found with our system of opening programs in a new window so you don't have to leave GarysWorld USA.  Certain pages here also contain the 'SNAPSHOTS' system, which lets you mouseover a section to get a preview of where it will take you. 

W are constantly looking for new technology to help make our sites better.  If you look for the first time at the navigation bar you might think there isn't much here.  The one thing our repeat visitors keep telling me with emails is the more they study our sites the more they find.  The question i get all the time is how in the world did we start getting such high page ranks recently.  I can only say that when i visit other top ranked websites, i try to learn 1 new thing from that site that i hadn't thought of before.  The other thing is i really believe that if you are honest on the internet with your visitors that you will come out ahead in the end.  If any of our ideas help you with your own website we have done our job.  Making money is a very small part of why GarysWorld is here.
