However, far from being associated with evil, we are told that the original meaning of the pentagram really relates to both the ‘feminine principle’ and the peculiar celestial motions of Venus, which draws out a five-pointed star in the heavens.
Moreover, many Freemasons have stated that the pentagram is NOT a Masonic symbol.
Those who would reject this, also maintain that the pentagonal symbolism is merely a coincidence: that like any other city, the layout consists of streets and buildings and that nothing symbolic is hiding in the map of
For example, Mark Koltko-Rivera, a prominent Mason, says that researchers like myself shouldn't "read too much into the patterns of triangles that emerges from the layout of the DC streets".
Although Mark says that I have noted, correctly, that the streets of DC radiate out from the White House and the Capitol, he also adds that, "If one creates a street plan based around streets radiating out from two or more central points, it is inevitable that triangles of various sorts shall show up. It is geometrically unavoidable, in fact".
A few years ago I would have readily agreed with this view, however what grabbed my attention about the avenue/grid layout of the Washington DC map . . . is that all the avenues, but one, which converge and centre on the White House, are at the angle of 23.5 degrees! [4]

however we can see that from the point where this 23.5 degree angle begins, leads direct to the Capitol Building.
One might say, "Well so what?" . . . "Why should this angle be important?"
The angle of 23.5º is significant because it is the angle of the Earth's Axis.
The Earth is tilted at 23.5º, from the Ecliptic Plane - its orbit around the Sun . . . well, tilted at 23.42º to be exact, and the angle is slowly decreasing.
However, most geophysical text books give the all-round figure of 23.5º.

The Great Pyramid of Giza and the Earth's Axis
Aside from the numerous references I have found to the angle of 23.5º in various sources and mostly in paintings from the 17th Century, it was during 2001 that I discovered that the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, contains encoded 'geophysical' information concerning the obliquity (tilt) angle of the Earth's Axis, and also geodetic information - i.e., the Great Pyramid's location on the Earth in relation to both the Equatorial and Ecliptic Planes.
The encoded information and knowledge contained within the geometry of the Great Pyramid appears to be in the form of 'angle degrees'. To most historians and Egyptologists, this would be absurd as it is an accepted belief that the ancient Egyptians never used 'angle degrees'. We are told that ancient Egyptians used Seked to measure angles and slopes.
However, this doesn't really mean a thing because in practical terms, a reference can be made to all and any angle by simply placing something at that same 'slope angle', despite whatever measuring system or value we give to it.
For example, by measuring an object at a certain angle, which is the same angle as the Earth's Axis, we would recognise it as being at "23.5º" - being the value we give it today based on the 360 degree measuring system. However to the ancient Egyptians or any other ancient peoples, the same object at this same angle would mean something else entirely - a different value or name, depending on the measuring system used . . . although it would still be at the same angle.
First of all let's familiarise ourselves with the internal features of the Great Pyramid in 'East/West cross section'.
Many of us who have studied the Great Pyramid will already be familiar with this internal view of the Chambers:

Next I will reveal the angles that connect the apex and the two base corners to the two chambers and also the two chambers themselves:

relating to the Earth's geophysics and it's own location in relation.
These angles exist between ONLY five points - and they are five significant points - Not "random points" and not just "any number", as we will see.
Below is a simple diagram to make this perfectly clear in our minds:

These five points are 1,) the Apex, 2) and 3,) the two vertices (corners), and 4,) and 5,) the two chambers - revealing significant geodetic-related information.
As we can see, the south vertice (corner) on the left and the centre of the King's Chamber are joined by an angle of 23.5º.
The King's Chamber and Queen's Chamber are also joined by the same angle of 23.5º - although this is 90º perpendicular to the former - a more vertical orientation of the same angle.
Also, we find that the angles connecting the south and north vertices to the Queen's Chamber are 11.75º.
Although not immediately apparent, we soon find that the angle of 11.75º is half of 23.5º and so together these two angles that intersect the lower Queen's Chamber create another reference to the angle of 23.5º which appears to be associated with the Earth's axial tilt angle.
How do we know that these angles are in direct reference to the angle of the Earth's axis?
That these 23.5º angles are a direct reference to the Earth's axis, is confirmed by the fact that by applying the correct orientation of these angles within the Great Pyramid to a typical text-book diagram of the Earth, we find that although the capstone is now missing from the structure, the Great Pyramid is actually pointing to its own location on the Earth via its Apex!
How? Well I shall explain . . .
As we can see in the diagram above, the King's Chamber is offset from the Apex by 6.5º.
All these angle values correlate with the geophysical picture of the tilted axis of the Earth and also correlate with the GP's own position on the Earth and in relation, it being 30º from the Equator and as the Earth turns it comes as close as 6.5º from the Ecliptic Plane.
30º subtract 6.5º = 23.5º
Fig. 8 below shows the two extreme positions of the Great Pyramid on the Earth and as the Earth turns daily - coming as close as 6.5 degrees from the Ecliptic Plane and as far as 53.5 degrees from the Ecliptic Plane.

Again,as many of us will know, the Great Pyramid is also roughly 30 degrees from the Equator. Its location is actually 29º 58' 51" N in arc minutes, and in degrees the location is 29.98º - just 2,125 metres short of exactly 30 degrees north latitude.
If we now take our diagram of the Great Pyramid in cross-section along with the angles, and then superimpose it over the above diagram of the tilted Earth - making sure that everything is properly orientated, we will see something truly remarkable . . . magical even.
We find that everything lines-up nicely and that the Great Pyramid is pointing to its own location on the Earth!

Also, we can see that the King's Chamber symbolically represents the core-centre of the Earth.
This 'appears' to confirm 'intention' on behalf of the architects and builders who designed these angles into the geometry of the Great Pyramid so as to convey knowledge about our planet.

The Great Pyramid of Washington DC
After discovering this, it was only natural that I would be more than interested, if not surprised, to find that the avenues at Washington DC are at the angle of 23.5º.
However, what grabbed my attention further was the fact that there is also a 52 to 53-degree reference on this map – being the angle of

Naturally after discovering this, the next logical step would be to complete the triangle by drawing another 52-degree line opposite, and we find that when we do this, the Capitol Building becomes included in this design and we see that this second 52-degree line goes through both the City Museum and the Logan Circle intersections. (See figure 11)

In effect, the result is a gigantic two-dimensional image of the Great Pyramid with its 52-degree sides and with 23.5 degree avenues radiating from the White House at its centre.
Again, naturally I was struck by this hitherto hidden design, as it appeared to confirm my own discovery as to the 23.5 degree angle within the geometry of the Great Pyramid of Giza along with the other geodetic-related angles. This was quite remarkable and beyond coincidence.
To see this clearly, let's reveal again, the 23.5-degree angles within the Great Pyramid:

What we see here in this cross-section image of the Great Pyramid (fig.12) is the same as what we see in the map of Washington DC - (fig. 13):

Again we see a 23.5º line from the south vertice and through the centre of the Pyramid - where the White House is situated.
In the Great Pyramid, this 23.5-degree angle intersects the King's Chamber which is is offset by 6.5 degrees from the Apex.
Whoever 'intentionally' designed this image into the map of Washington DC, he or they must have decided to bypass this central chamber offset, therefore placing the White House in the centre.
I have added a blue square to show where the King's Chamber would be inside the Great Pyramid.
Can this really be a coincidence? Again, I will quote Mark Koltko-Rivera's words:
"If one creates a street plan based around streets radiating out from two or more central points, it is inevitable that triangles of various sorts shall show up. It is geometrically unavoidable, in fact".
Again, I would agree, but the fact that the avenues are at these significant angles - 52º and 23.5º - and are also laid out in such a way that they create the same picture as shown in fig. 12, reveals that the avenues of Washington DC have been ENCODED with this knowledge - a secret about the Great Pyramid that is only now coming to light.
Of course, what it all means, or what it is indeed pointing to, is another thing . . .
So, the question is, WHY has this 'secret' knowledge about the Great Pyramid been encoded in the avenues of Washington?
What are we being told here?
Has this secret knowledge, that the Great Pyramid contains geophysical information related to the tilt angle of the Earth, been known for centuries?
If so, then is this the real purpose as to why the Great Pyramid and the layout at Giza were designed and built in the first place . . . so as to convey information about the condition of our planet?
The next logical question is Why?
Was it believed that the tilt of the Earth is an unnatural condition?
The ancient Greek astronomers certainly believed this and we are told through numerous symbolically-encoded references and even textual references, that due to some global catastrophe in the distant past, the Earth had become tilted from an almost upright position, resulting in "the Fall of Man" from a 'continual springtime paradise' . . . but more on this later.
There is more to this image which I will present below, which supports my hypothesis that not only is this design indeed a reference to the Great Pyramid, but it also incorporates the ‘Tree of Life’ of the Qabbalah, with its ten Sephiroth – the spheres, worlds, planes or levels of consciousness, which are said to correspond with the Kundalini-related chakra vortices that align the spine . . . the human axis.
It appears that we are dealing with a multilayered code here related to Zero Meridians, the geophysical axis and the human spinal axis and all in terms of attaining enlightenment and higher states of human consciousness.
If we look at figure 10 again, we would note that IF the architect(s) had actually added an avenue on the opposite side to the White House – again angled at 52 degrees – then this would have made the whole thing too obvious, and this is one of the reasons why this design is so subtle – just a trace of what was and is intended symbolically.
In other words, if discovered, then what emerges logically could easily be explained away as a coincidence, in that the argument that there is symbolic imagery in the map doesn’t hold as the design we see is not complete in the overt sense, and if intended then it should be obvious to everyone.
However, as we know, on the contrary this argument itself doesn’t hold as it was intended to be hidden to all but the initiated.

Although what we see here says much for those who believe and maintain that encoded in the map of Washington DC are the secrets of the Masons or the Illuminati, my own interpretation is that this design is a symbolic gesture to the ancient knowledge and principles outlined here in regard to what is known by mystic's, philosophers and the more spiritually-minded, as the Source-Centre of Creation, and which has remained largely a secret to initiates only.
Again, like the glass pyramid in Paris, which appears to be marking the old Paris Meridian, we find another pyramid marking the original Washington Meridian.
All this has been hidden from view for centuries and is revealed here for the first time.
I have discovered these same angles 23.5 and 52 turn up together in many different sources, and so in my view, there is no question that the same theme of the pyramid and the meridian appearing in the Capital cities of two nations that experienced Revolution in the 18th century and which are now believed by many to have been incited by Freemasons, was intended.
Furthermore, this recurring theme appears to be based on the symbolic myth of the traditional ‘world mountain’ which is said to have had the Earth’s axis running though its center. Again, this mountain archetype is based on the belief that originally the Prime Meridian ran through Mount Atlas in Atlantis, and that in the post-flood era the Prime Meridian ran through Giza in Egypt as marked by the Great Pyramid. (See fig. 4).
Along with the principles of spiritual knowledge that the pyramid embodies – especially its centralised apex being a reference to the Source-Centre of all creation – its no wonder that the Great Pyramid symbolized the Omphalos . . . the centre of the world . . . One’s attunement to zero-point indeed.
So again, now taking the above into consideration, it would seem that any city that adopts the Prime Meridian would be recognised as the ‘centre of the world’, and possibly as Atlantis once was, or so it was/is believed.
It has also been suggested that the Founding Fathers of America, believed they were creating a ‘New Atlantis’ – possibly inspired by Francis Bacon’s work of the same title published in 1626.
It is said that Bacon (1561-1626) was behind the Rosicrucian movement which appeared in dramatic fashion at the beginning of the 17th century, and like several other individuals also associated with the Rosicrucians, he had links with the new State of

If this is true, then perhaps in this gigantic image of the Great Pyramid we are also being told that this ‘central source’ on the Earth is the Great Pyramid, or that the Great Pyramid represents this source – or perhaps even marks this source, and also in terms of high energy ‘convergence points’ in the earth’s energy grid, which some believe exist – however, this is another topic in itself and one that is also related to the principles of knowledge just outlined. Keeping the above in mind we shall now turn to the city of
If we need more confirmation of what we see at Washington DC – i.e., the pyramid encased within ‘outward radiating’ avenues, each at the angle of 23.5 degrees - then all we need to do is look again at the position of the glass pyramid in the courtyard of the Louvre in Paris.

The angle between the two corners of the courtyard – i.e., bottom southwest corner to the top, northeast corner, is 23.5º – the same angle as the Earth’s axis and equator.
We note that the glass pyramid, whose sides are also 52º, is not exactly in the centre of the courtyard, but has instead been placed in such a way, that the apex-center of the pyramid intersects this 23.5-degree line that extends across the courtyard.
Again, all this has been hidden under our very noses – now revealed for the first time.

The ‘
Almost a year before I discovered that the avenues leading off from the Whitehouse were at the angle of 23.5º, and there also existed an avenue at the angle of 52º, I had drawn up the diagram below.
The 52-degree angle for the Great Pyramid is really an all-round figure, because the angles of the four sides are actually 51.84º.

This is the information also encoded in the streets of
the Great Pyramid contains the angle relating to the obliquity of the earth's axis – 23º – over and over again.
The information in this diagram is found by simply placing another triangle (half size) upside down (inverted) inside the large one (sides 51.84 degrees which represents the GP) and then measuring the angles between the intersections, which one will find each time to be 23 degrees.
This means that the angle of 23º is linked both geometrically and mathematically to this famous 52-degree-sided structure.
However, in discovering the above design in the map of
If we now superimpose the diagram in Figure 16 over the map of Washington and the White House (see figure 17) we find that it fits quite well considering the amount of area covered.
The angles in fig. 16 show 23 degrees – as was possibly the intention of the Great Pyramid architect(s) and builders.
However, we find that the streets of
In any case its still a good match and in my view this is the real encoded information which has been hiding in the map of

How does this design also relate to Ascension or Enlightenment?
Well from this picture emerges more information ultimately connected with the shamanic ‘World Tree’, which symbolises both the human spinal column and/or cerebrospinal nervous system and the polar axis of the Earth, and this is what we would come to expect with this reference of the 23º or 23.5º angle of the Earth’s axis.
The beauty of all this is the way all this related information fits so well together in one picture; it really is remarkable, as we find that on the intersection points of this triangular grid within the Great Pyramid, (‘world mountain’) fit the ten Sephiroth of the Hebrew ‘Tree of Life’ (‘world tree’) – according to the mystical Qabbalah.
First of all we will take a look at a modern, up-to-date map of

The Tree of Life has been depicted in many different forms over the centuries with different arrangements of the 22 paths or channels that connect the Sephiroth levels or spheres. Fig. 19 shows three of the more common forms we find in many publications about the Qabbalah. Some, like the central diagram, will leave out the non-Sephirothic level known as Daath (the Abyss) – the cross-over point between the lower levels associated with the material realm and the higher realm of the mind.

The ‘Tree of Life’ mystical system is said to have originated in Sumeria, [8] and is very much like the ‘sacred tree’ we see on early Mesopotamian cylinder seals and Assyrian wall reliefs, where the tree is often flanked by two mirror images (opposite selves) of the king (initiate) and two Akpallu or Geni initiators (Shining Ones).
The god floating in a ‘winged eye’ in some depictions, or disk above the tree – being Anu, (Sumerian) Assur (Assyrian) or Ahura Mazda (Persian) – represents not only the ascending soul, but also the highest level – Kether or Ain-Sof. For the ancient Egyptians this would be the 'Eye of Ra', which we will come to in moment.
It doesn't take much thought to see that this is the same motif as the 'all-seeing eye' in the capstone that floats above the truncated pyramid in Masonic symbolism - the $1 US bill being a good example (see fig. 22 below).
By cross-referencing, we can see that the pyramid does indeed represent this 'Tree of Life' - its mythical source being the shamanic 'World Tree'.
The 'sacred tree' in the middle of the wall relief below, represents the spinal column of the initiate, with the angelic ‘initiators’ representing the two opposites (dual aspects) on either side like the twin serpents of the Caduceus.

The Tree of Life of the Qabbalah is also said to be ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ – the ladder on which angels were seen ascending and descending in Jacob’s dream.
Jacob is said to have rested his head on a stone pillow (pillar) – being the same stone (‘foundation stone’ and ‘stone of the philosophers’) that fell to earth from heaven and through all nine levels.
Again, the ten Sephiroth (spheres) are levels of consciousness – much like the Hindu chakras of which there are usually seven, but also eight, nine or ten in some systems. These levels are also the ‘Seven Governors’ as mentioned in the Hermetica.
We find that the

The White House corresponds with Tiphereth, which is given the attribute of ‘Beauty’ – being associated with the human soul.
The Apex of the Tree and the Pyramid is where we find Kether – the highest level known as ‘the Father’ and the ‘Supreme Crown’, which corresponds with the Hindu ‘Crown Chakra’, the Sahasrara.
Again, the apex represents the Source-Center of creation – the zero-point.
There is nothing on the map of any significance at this location . . . zilch . . . zero.
However, like the All-Seeing Eye positioned within the center of the radiant, floating capstone on a One Dollar bill, only three blocks down from the Apex we find the 'House of the Temple' - the Headquarters of of the Supreme Council, 33° Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
The House of the Temple is at No. 1733, 16th Street. Again, as we now know, 16th Street marked the former zero meridian.
32nd-Degree Mason, Mark Koltko Rivera informs us that, "the Scottish Rite did not exist until 1801 and that this should suggest that Washington, DC was not designed around, let alone at the behest of, the Scottish Rite".
Mark adds that . . .
"The city was founded in 1790. Congress held its first session in DC in November 1800. The Scottish Rite had its headquarters in Charleston, SC, when it was established in May 1801, and there it remained until 1870, when the headquarters moved to DC.
The Supreme Council met at several locations until the House of the Temple was constructed, a process which lasted from 1911 to 1915, a full century after DC was laid out; DC was clearly not designed around the House of the Temple."
No obviously not, however, is it not more than a coincidence to find that the House of the Temple was built close to the 'zero apex' of this mountain-tree design, which already existed, and also on the former zero meridian of Washington?
The House of the Temple appears to have a more ascended position than that of the White House.
What does this tell us?
Are we being told that the Masons are the real power behind the "throne"?
Is this just more "Freemasonry fantasy"? I shall leave this to the reader to decide.

We should note the fact that there are 33 vertebrae in the human spinal column, and that it has been suggested that this is the real meaning behind the Masonic hierarchy of 'Degrees'; that these degrees or levels are related to the levels of the spine and the chakra energy points - the highest level reached when one becomes a 33rd degree Mason.
UPDATE 16th September 2009:
With the publication of Dan Brown's new novel, The Lost Symbol, (2009) we now find that No. 1733, 16th Street, is the location of the 33rd-degree, ‘initiation ritual’ dramatically described at the beginning of the novel.
Quote from the Prologue of The Lost Symbol:
"I am just blocks
away from the White House. This colossal edifice, located at 1733 Sixteenth
Street NW in Washington, D.C., was a replica of a pre-Christian temple –the
temple of King Mausolus, the original mausoleum . . . a place to be taken after
death."
It has been said that Dan Brown’s initiation ritual at this location was taken from what was described in James D. Shaw's 1988 Book, The Deadly Deception, where Jim Shaw gives his account – so he claims – on receiving the 33rd degree. [9]

thirty-four-year-old initiate gazed down at the human skull cradled in his
palms. The skull was hollow, like a bowl, filled with bloodred wine. Drink it, he told himself. You have nothing
to fear."

Although the venom can kill you, the blood of the snake acts as an antidote and neutralises the venom, so, both the venom and blood of the snake mixed together is a powerful ‘drug/medicine’ . . . perhaps the very mixture that was known as the ‘Elixir of Life’.
It has largely been kept a secret only by those who have known the benefits of this mix throughout history. An example of just one clue that leads to this conclusion is the symbol used by the Medical profession, which has a snake wrapped around a staff.
We found that shamans would ingest it because the mixture also triggered altered sates of consciousness. The shamans would drink this mix of snake's venom and blood from a human skull, which makes me wonder if this Masonic ritual of drinking red wine from a skull is a ritual that has been passed down since ancient times and is shamanic in origin.
Secondly, I discovered that this ingesting of both the venom and blood of the snake, was also symbolic of the union between the Ida (female-related) and Pingala (male-related) nerve channels – as symbolised by snakes or serpents on the symbol of the Caduceus – both associated with the Gland-Chakra system and therefore the awakening of Kundalini . . . enlightenment!
We also find that Dan Brown’s book, The Lost Symbol is primarily about enlightenment, and so it’s no surprise to discover that together the avenues of Washington and the landmarks positioned on certain intersections (power-points) create the ‘Tree of Life’ associated with both the Qabbalah and the Hindu chakra system in the body by which one attains enlightenment - again, known as a ‘Kundalini Awakening’.
In the Wake of The Lost Symbol:
The US cover version of Dan Brown's new novel, The Lost Symbol shows a triangular tear in the page or document covered with arcane glyphs and symbols.
Above it is the impression made by a wax-seal or stamp with Masonic imagery – a crest with a pyramid at the centre with the number 33 inside.
The phrase "Order out of Chaos" is written beneath and the wax seal image is at a 33° angle.
On first glance the triangular tear and the wax seal resembles a traditional keyhole image, and of course 'the key' to the mysteries is relevant here as the novel was first going to be called The Solomon Key.
Upon looking at this cover for the first time, for me the triangular tear with the wax-seal above it reminded me of a glorious image I had kept in mind . . . a Pyramid with the Sun above and behind the apex.
I had used a similar image for my 2005 article, Akh: The Seed Point and Seed Stone of Creation.

What's more, early on in my article I mention the ancient Egyptian Sun Symbol and also give an illustration of it - a simple circle with a dot at the center.
On the cover of The Lost Symbol, we also see the Sun Symbol as the 'O' in CODE.

After examining Brown's cover for awhile, I soon realised that the triangular tear looked very similar to the outline of Christ’s body in Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper – as if the very image of Da Vinci’s Christ had been carefully cut or torn out of this page on the cover of Brown’s book.

This was a logical connection to make, because Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ featured significantly in Brown’s previous book, The Da Vinci Code – the cryptic details and overall meaning of the painting being the subject of much controversy and conjecture.
If we superimpose the cover of ‘The Lost Symbol’ onto an image of Da Vinci’s painting of ‘The Last Supper’, we find that the outline of this triangular tear matches perfectly the outline of Christ at the centre of the table.
The two outlines match so well, that I'm certain the result we see here is what Dan Brown or the publisher had intended.

As we can see, the result is that the wax seal is now a halo around Christ's head. And not forgetting the Great Pyramid image with the Sun above it, we note that the triangular outline of Christ in Da Vinci's painting also fits a 52-degree sided triangle or pyramid – the same angle used for the sides of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
So here, we see above the Great Pyramid (Christ's body) the Sun (the wax seal) – symbolising the 'Inner Sun' of man’s consciousness; man’s link with the Divine Source. This is the Akh, the Godhead of enlightenment symbolised by the ben ben stone – the pyramidion or capstone of the pyramid.
This gives a whole new meaning to the 'All-Seeing Eye' in the Capstone of the Pyramid as used in Masonic symbolism - see above, fig. 22, the Masonic Seal within the One Dollar bill.
I am indebted to Don Barone once again. Upon seeing the superimposed picture above, he then discovered that these ceiling alignments intersect Christ's right eye.

Don Barone has stated 'Eye of Horus', but rather, and although the 'Eye of Horus' has similar meaning, the Sun Symbol and the 'All-Seeing Eye' is based on ancient concepts associated with the 'Eye of Ra'.
This ‘eye’ represents the 'Supreme Being', and rather than get caught up in any religious dogma, the Masons simply believe in a 'Higher Power'.
In ancient Egyptian thought, the 'eye' is the soul of the god Ra or Atum-Ra, equivalent to the Sumerian Anu, the highest ‘father god’ – the Source Centre of all creation. However, the esoteric 'eye' also represents the soul and the ‘spark’ or life-force energy contained in every being on earth - one's link with the divine and attained only through Enlightenment.
As a matter of interest, Richard Paschal - a poster on The Graham Hancock Website - informed me that The House of the Temple, being the Headquarters for the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, has multiple Lion images.
Richard says that there are 76 Lion faces on its external facade, plus 2 on its front doors, not counting the two 17 ton Sphinxes.
In Jim Shaw's book, The Deadly Deception (1988), we are told that:
"Flanking the entrance are two Sphinx-like granite lions with women's heads, the neck of one entwined by a cobra and decorated with the "ankh" (the Egyptian symbol of life and deity). Adorning the neck and breast of the other is an image of a women, symbolic of fertility and procreation."
" . . . High above the entrance, partially concealed by stone columns, is an elaborate image of the Egyptian sun god, backed with radiating sun and flanked by six large, golden snakes." See here:
The serpents speak for themselves; but in regard to the Lion images, I'm reminded of the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet or Hathor, who was depicted with a Lion's head. Sekhmet was also called the 'Eye of Ra' . . . surprise, surprise.
Sekhmet is also the Hindu goddess Kali/Durga and of course there are numerous connections between this goddess and the raising of the Kundalini - hence serpent imagery. We will come back to the 'Eye of Ra' later (See The Eye of Ra and Kundalini below).
Going back to the superimposed image between the cover of The Lost Symbol and Christ in The Last Supper, many Freemasons would tell you that the Da Vinci/Christ theme here is not really compatible with Masonic thought, however there are numerous correspondences between Christ and ancient shamanic heroes and and pagan gods, so we can see that certain elements have been used to both confuse us and also enlighten us at the same time - if we have the eyes to see, which is always the purpose behind esoteric symbolism.
Note how a 52-degree-sided pyramid fits the outline of Christ's body perfectly.
The 'Inner Sun' is the location of the Bindu powerpoint just above the head – the seventh chakra – hence the seal/halo in the superimposed image.
Esoterically, and in Hindu terms, this is all related to the physio-Kundalini-Chakra system through which one reaches enlightenment – known as a Kundalini Awakening. (See Kundalini Connection below).
Now we can see why Dan Brown chose the location of the 1733, House of the Temple for the 33rd degree initiation ritual at the beginning of the book, because this location of the Temple in the pyramid design within the map of Washington DC, actually represents the 'All-Seeing Eye' in the capstone of the pyramid and is the highest point reached in the Physio-Kundalini-chakra system.
It represents Enlightenment - hence the 33rd Degree.
I have superimposed the map of Washington showing the Great Pyramid in the avenues, over the triangular body of Christ in Da Vinci's painting of 'The Last Supper'.
Note how the Location of the Temple at 1733, 16th street, falls over the eye of Christ as the All-Seeing Eye of the Enlightened Being - Christ representing an 'enlightened one'.
More besides . . .
In Brown's novel, we find that the individual who went through the 33rd degree initiation ritual is named Mal'akh.
We are told that each of his legs is
tatooed as one of the two Masonic pillars known as Boaz and Jachin
(Severity and Mercy) - the left leg spiralled and the right vertically
striated.
In truth, the two pillars symbolise the
ida and pingala nerve channels that are said to spiral up around the spinal
cord (symbolised by the tree, column or obelisk) like two snakes or serpents. Again, we
see this with the symbol of the Caduceus - the central staff of the Caduceus
representing the spine.
The two serpents ida and pingala are associated with the Physio-Kundalini-Chakra system, and it is said that when Kundalini is awakened through trance or other circumstances, the two opposite energies fuse together, thereby canceling each other out and becoming neutralised within the central nerve channel known as the Sushumna.
The synergetic energy then rises up the spine to the top of the head. One will experience an explosion of bright white light at the centre of one's consciousness - enlightenment.
One will experience one's consciousness going back to the seed-point of the universe before the "big bang" as it were, and in a split second will know and understand everything!
At this point the highest chakra has been
reached and activated.
The highest chakra vortex known as the
Bindu in Hindu philosophy, is said to exist at a point three fingers width
from the top of the head.
The Monk's tonsure - the bald spot on the
crown
is a reference to the crown chakra, and
again, the ancient Egyptian Sun Symbol illustrates this highest point in
consciousness - the Source-Centre.
For me, and indeed others, the pyramid is a symbol of ascension to the 'Godhead' and enlightenment
and brilliantly illustrates these processes in the human body and
consciousness.
For example, we can see the correspondences between the lava rising upward through the axis of the volcano, the Kundalini prana energy – the mix of ‘fire’ and ‘water’ opposites – rising up through the sushumna of the spine, and the semen, which rises up through the phallus at the climactic moment of sexual intercourse between a male and female - again, representing the union of opposites.
We would also note that the Great Pyramid
is truncated - missing its capstone.
The truncated pyramid is symbolic - as if
the apex is something so sacred that it has to be hidden from view.
‘There
is some evidence in the ancient texts that the eventual addition of the
capstone (and thus the completion of the pyramid to its full design) was seen by the
initiates as symbolising the return of the Light to the world in the Messianic
person of the resurrected
Osiris’.
It is associated with Enlightenment, and
this is another reason why the image of the Great Pyramid exists in the map of Washington DC.
Interpretation of The Last Supper:
Christ represents the Sun as he is also the pagan ‘Sun god’ – but spiritually and esoterically, he represents the 'Inner Sun' for everyone on Earth.
The 12 disciples as shown in Da Vinci’s painting appear to represent the 12 Astrological signs of the Zodiac which is aligned with the Ecliptic.
We could say that Christ is at the Centre of these rotating astrological signs, much like the dot at the centre of the ancient Egyptian Sun Symbol, and so because we view the zodiac from our perspective on Earth, then being at the centre and like the Egyptian god Osiris, Christ also represents the Earth and everything on it.
The Earth's axis is a metaphor for Christ’s own backbone or spinal axis around which the 12 constellations are seen to turn.
Here he symbolises the Shamanic 'Axis Mundi' and the Shamanic 'World Mountain' which is said to have the Earth's axis running through it.
The 12 constellations represent the 12 human types born under each of the 12 sun signs.
The human race, as divided into 12 types, surrounds Christ - the 'Shining One' at the Centre of reality.
In the Crucifixion story, Christ carries the tilted cross – the tilted axis. He is then lifted upright on the cross (his spine) – symbolising the vertical alignment with the Ecliptic – pointing straight at the Ecliptic Centre, which represents the 'Kingdom of God' or the Source of all Creation.
From this vertical position, Christ ascends (ascension) to the Kingdom – via the Kundalini Awakening.
The pyramid was known as the “Place of Ascension”.
Again, why are the avenues that radiate outwards from the centre of the pyramid and the White House at the angle of 23.5 degrees?
Because the Great Pyramid has an angle reference to the tilted Axis of 23.5º and is pointing at its own location on earth . . . See here:
Again, I believe that the knowledge of this 23.5-degree reference within the geometry of the Great Pyramid has also been encoded in the map of Washington DC.
It appears to have largely remained a secret until I first discovered this 23.5-degree reference within the Great Pyramid in 2001.
It is also my theory that Precession and the tilt of the Earth associated with Precession, has been encoded within the Great Pyramid and also the layout of Giza.

What does the present tilt of the Earth have to do with Enlightenment?
It was believed that the earth being tilted is an 'unnatural condition' and reflects an imbalance in human consciousness. See here:
The Crucifixion of Christ is really a 'metaphorical play' based on an ancient collective desire to return the Earth's axis to an upright position – if it ever was upright in the first place.
Perhaps there was a global catastrophe by which the earth became tilted, and yes this can be debated, but again, the Earth being tilted nevertheless reflects an ancient belief that there is a 'misalignment' in us all as regards an 'upright' alignment and direct link with the Source - the One – represented by the Ecliptic Centre.
The 'Kundalini Awakening' by which one becomes enlightened and becomes the 'Inner Sun' is really one's Ascension back to that Source from which we all came into Being, and this 'awakening' plays a major part in the Crucifixion . . . the Crucifixion being a message.
The Crucifixion of Christ is also based on the ancient Egyptian, 'raising of the Djed' ritual or ceremony.
The Djed is the backbone of Osiris and the 'raising of the Djed' shows yet again, a desire to return the Earth's axis back to its rightful position.
The Djed was often raised on the Spring Equinox – one of only two days in the year when the earth makes a return to the same conditions as if it were upright - i.e., equal day and equal night – hence the reason why Jesus is also Crucified at Easter.
Researchers and writers Jan Wicherink and Aaron Parlier are of the opinion that my work on these 23.5º discoveries and the subject of 'Precession' may have been of some inspiration to Dan Brown.
They have found references to 23.5º on the US cover. However, this is more likely a coincidence. See here:
Kundalini Enlightenment and the Map of Washington
In brief, the 'Kundalini enlightenment' or 'Awakening Expererience' by which one reaches the Heavenly Kingdom - nirvana, kether - is also referenced on the ground and in the street map of Washington - like it has in so many other places, both in reality and in myth throughout history. Ultimately, the shamanic 'World Mountain' and 'World Tree' are symbolic of this experience.
We find that the three pillars of the ‘Tree of Life’ also correspond with the three Hindu nadi nerve channels which spiral up and down the spinal cord, symbolised by the snakes or serpents of the Caduceus - a symbol of these internal Kundalini processes. The left pillar is known as the ‘Pillar of Severity’ (negative) and corresponds with the ida nerve channel, representing the feminine aspect or opposite. The right pillar is known as the ‘Pillar of Mercy’ (positive) and corresponds with the pingala nerve channel, representing the masculine aspect or opposite.
These two pillars are also the Joachin and Boaz pillars of Freemasonry, based on the columns that are said to have flanked the entrance to Solomon’s
The middle pillar is known as the ‘Pillar of Mildness’ – balance, equilibrium, neutral – and corresponds with the central Sushumna nerve channel. We can see then that the Prime Meridian on the earth also represents this middle pillar and the Hindu sushumna, and that esoterically, any city that adopts the zero-prime meridian represents the gateway to the Source-Centre of all creation - zero-point.

Eye of Ra and Kundalini
Take a look at this powerfully-loaded ancient Egyptian imagery . . .

“The Serpent
of the Earth becomes Celestial . . .”

The sun symbol representing the bindu point above the head in Hindu depictions of the Kundalini chakra system is the Eye of Ra, flanked by the two eyes of Horus – representing the left and right brain opposites. These are also related to the three components of the third eye – Pineal, Pituitary and Thalamus in the centre of the brain
See the Sun Symbol?
It is above the head of the 'Shining One' who is astrally ascending with the help of serpents . . . Kundalini serpents.
The sun symbol is the 'Eye of Ra'.
As we can see there are eyes (Eyes of Horus) either side of the Eye of Ra showing us that the Eye of Ra is also the ‘third eye’ at the centre of the head.
This means that the bindu centre is reached or activated via the activation of the ‘third eye’ – the thalamus at the centre of the brain. And this activation takes place when a fusion of opposites - Eye of Horus (both sides of the brain) are synchronised through trance states such as the Hypnagogic State - an 'in-between' state of consciousness that is neither waking or sleeping, but both at the same time . . . again a fusion of opposites.
This state is also activated by a kind of union taking place between pineal and pituitary glands – the Rosicrucian, “Chemical Wedding” associated with alchemy.
In support of this, we see a long stalk or stem in the neck – perhaps depicting a line of energy –reaching from the heart to the centre of the head where it ends in a loop – it could be the ear of the individual or it could be indicating the thalamus – the ancient ‘third eye’. This line of energy up to the centre of the brain could also depict the sushumna central nerve channel of Hindu tradition, which is said to lie inside and along the whole length of the spinal cord.
Serpents dominate in this illustration, and we especially see a figure riding the serpent to the stars.
We are being told that activation of the “third eye” allows one to leave the body and travel “astrally” through the heavens.
This is evidenced in the wings of the snake held by the standing figure who is about to depart on this “feathered serpent” – he becoming one with the serpent energies – and therefore a Shining One . . . a “feathered serpent”.
And now we can return to the esoteric significance of the 23.5-degree tilt of the earth as related to Precession, and the connection this has with the 'Eye of Ra'.
Eye of Ra: (Ecliptic
Centre and Polestar)
'The ‘Eye of Ra’ or Atum-Ra, is also represented by the ‘ecliptic centre’ to which the vertical pole of the ecliptic is aligned. If the earth were upright it would be aligned with the Ecliptic Centre - the 'Eye of Ra.' However the earth is tilted away from it and will align with a polestar along its circular route relating to the precessional cycle. Was the earth once upright? Did some global catastrophe knock the earth away from this celestial point in the heavens, seen as the abode of the Father God, the Source of Creation, and later the 'Kingdom of God'?
Again the ‘Eye of Ra’ being above the head of the figure reveals that like the once ecliptic centre or now the polestar which sits above the earth’s axis, this centre is also positioned above the human spinal axis. Again, in Hindu tradition this point or centre is the bindu above the head.

The Ancient Egyptian Sun-Symbol is also used in esoteric symbolism as a symbol for the Precessional Cycle of 25,920 years.
In his two-volume work, Nights of the Gods, 19th century writer John O’Neill shows how all the world’s myths make reference to the celestial pole of the earth and the star constellations that revolve around it. O’Neill’s theme as quoted by Joscelyn Godwin is that:
Although the above sentiment is correct in my view, O’Neill’s tendency to assign the “Most High” to the Polestar is technically wrong. Again, the “Most High,” would be the ecliptic centre, where there is no polestar, or anything in particular. We find support for this in the fact that Atum-Ra’s equivalent in Sumeria, was the god An or Anu, and it was Astronomer, Sir Norman ‘Lockyer who first pointed out that the Babylonians distinguished the pole of the equator which they called Bil, (or Bel, Baal – a god equatable with Osiris) from the ‘pole of the ecliptic’ which was called Anu’.
So then, it was the ‘ecliptic centre’ or ‘Eye of Ra,’ that was seen to be the “abode of the gods” – especially in classical times and in more recent times, seen as the “Kingdom” or “Throne of God”. Today a mystic looking at these ancient beliefs would again relate it to the source-centre of all creation.
If the earth's axis did fall during man’s time on this planet, then experiencing it falling away from this point must have created a crisis in man’s consciousness from which, and in an archetypal sense, he has never really recovered. It would be as if man’s own spinal axis had “fallen away” – both his spine and the source becoming misaligned – hence Edgar Cayce’s words that “man who has lost his spiritual self is like a ship without a rudder”, and Mather Walker’s sentiment that Cayce’s words are “a clue for understanding the story of Hamlet” who is “curiously unable to direct himself on any course of action”.
The alternative view would be, that perhaps the axis had never fallen away from this centre; that it has always been tilted, and that man merely believed that the polar axis should and must be aligned with this centre.
The Lost Symbol, the Apotheosis and the "John Gesture"
In “The Lost Symbol”, Dan Brown
makes a grisly reference to the esoteric symbolism behind the upward-pointing
index finger, known well to those who have studied Leonardo Da Vinci’s
paintings.
Authors Lynn Picknett and Clive
Prince mention this recurring motif of the upward-pointing finger in their book
The Templar Revelation – a book that the authors say had been an influential
source for Dan Brown’s previous novel, ‘The
Da Vinci Code’.
In their book, Picknett and
Prince have named this the ‘John Gesture’, as this symbolic sign made by the
forefinger of the right hand pointing upwards to heaven or God, exists most
prominently in the paintings that feature John the Baptist – especially by Da
Vinci – and it is often John who is making this gesture.
In 'The Lost Symbol', a man’s severed hand which has been impaled wrist down on a wooden plinth so that it stands upright with the forefinger pointing upwards, has been left in the centre of the floor of the Capitol Rotunda of the Capitol Building at Washington DC. It points straight up towards the Rotunda ceiling and the surrounding fresco known as The Apotheosis of George Washington - painted by Constantino Brumidi in 1865. The fresco is visible through the Oculus of the dome in the Rotunda.

The word ‘Apotheosis’ means ‘Man’s Ascension to Godhood’, or “To make Man a God”, so the fresco depicts George Washington as a ‘Man becoming a God’ and most certainly in the 'afterlife'.
There is more symbology to discuss here concerning the Rotunda.
Domes and Rotundas are symbolic, not only of the womb, the ovum and the round, circular or curved shapes relating to the feminine principle, but also of the human head.
The Oculus in the centre is the Latin word for 'Eye', and like the dot at the centre of the ancient Egyptian Sun Symbol, it symbolises the Bindu (Hindu term) - the point said to be three inches above the head associated with the Crown Chakra.
Again, we are reminded of the Monk's tonsure - the shaven bald spot on the crown of the head. Again, in Ancient Egyptian terms, this is also the 'Eye of Ra'
The Crown Chakra is associated with Ascension . . . Enlightenment - the activation of, or rising of one's fused opposite energies through the endocrine gland-related chakra levels that align with the spine, to reach the top of the head . . . another reason why the fore finger of the hand points upwards.
One "becomes as a god" through Enlightenment.
On discussing the symbolism of
the severed hand which also has a different arcane glyph tattooed on the thumb
and each finger, Brown’s leading man, the fictional symbologist, Robert
Langdon, mentions the controversial statue of Washington as the Greek god Zeus, sculptured by Horatio Greenough.
Washington’s right hand makes
this same gesture - the forefinger pointing upwards towards God or the
‘heavenly Kingdom’ as many would interpret it.

The left arm and hand holding the sword is most likely at the angle of 23.5 degrees.
In 1832, the U.S. Congress
commissioned Horatio Greenough to sculpt a marble statue of George Washington.
Greenough decided to portray Washington in the classical Greek style of their
pagan god Zeus – half-naked with toga and sandals.
The statue, which has been called
the “most embarrassing sculpture in America”, was initially going to be displayed
in the Capitol Rotunda in 1832 to commemorate the centennial of Washington’s
birth.
However, when it was eventually unveiled
in 1841. the public generally found this portrayal of Washington offensive and
distasteful, and thereafter the statue went through a series of relocations.
But going back to the so-called ‘John
Gesture’ . . .
We find it in Da Vinci's painting of The Last Supper, where Thomas is thrusting an upright index finger at Christ.
We find it in Da Vinci's first
portrayal of John the Baptist, who looks rather androgynous (male-female) and
expressing the Mona Lisa smile.
We also find it in his painting, The Adoration of the Magi.
However, during 2006, I
discovered that the forefinger pointing straight up to God or Heaven isn't the only
'John Gesture' - there is another . . .
In over 30 paintings of John the
Baptist that were painted by various artists between the 16th and 18th centuries, John is also pointing at 23.5 Degrees!
This 23.5-degree reference is also evident in Da Vinci's Bacchus / Dionysus / Osiris / John in the Wilderness. c.1517.
So then, the 'John gesture' is really related to both these
directions - i.e., straight upwards (vertical) . . . and also at the angle of
23.5 degrees, an important detail which the researchers, and scholars of both
art and arcane symbolism all appear to have missed.
The
question is of course, what does the tilt angle of the Earth’s Axis have to do
with John the Baptist?
As
regards this Baptist theme, the likely explanation for these references would
be that the 'Feast Day' of the Baptist takes place on 24th June – being the
Summer Solstice and the day when the Sun is on the Tropic of Cancer - being
23.5 degrees North of the equator.
Therefore,
in a deeper sense, we are bring told that the tilt of the Earth's axis is
related to John, 'the great initiator' in some way.
But what
secrets really lay behind this association . . .
What is
the 'John gesture' really telling us?
Well now
faced with these obvious references to the obliquity angle of the Earth, the
simple answer is this:
The 'John
gesture' is expressing two positions relating to the Earth's axis.
A) being vertical, which may have once been the case, and
B) also at the angle the Axis is today . . . around 23.5 degrees.
It’s indeed ironic that those of us who are interested in these mysteries have overlooked this because it is the key that can lead us to more answers that many of us are desperate to find in regard to the deeper mysteries surrounding what was first presented in The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail by Leigh, Lincoln and Baigent (1982) . . . what was then presented in The Templar Revelation by Picknett and Prince (1997) . . . which then led to The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown 2002 . . . then to The Sion Revelation by Picknett and Prince (2006) and now to Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol (2009).
And still, the true meaning behind what is indeed a
"code" or "cipher" even in this important clue which has
been given to us in the 'John gesture' which Picknett and Prince first brought
attention to, has been overlooked.
Again, why are the avenues at Washington at 23.5 degrees?
Why do these
avenues radiate out from the centre of a pyramid which is pointing straight
upwards – its central axis aligned with the Washington Meridian, which is
referenced as Zero on the old maps?
Why?
Because it was believed that the Earth's Axis was once upright or should be, and that being upright or vertical, the Earth’s axis was therefore directly linked or aligned with God and with the Heavenly Kingdom – the Ecliptic Centre.
It was believed that then, the Earth
and everything on it was balanced and in tune with the spiritual source.
The finger pointing upwards symbolises this balance, this perfection.
This vertical alignment with the ‘Kingdom of God’ is reflected in the axis of
the Pyramid aligned with the Meridian, as the Great Pyramid once was at Giza.
It is also reflected in the metaphorical ideal of the 'upright' human axis and the chakra-related levels associated with the human axis through which one can become as a god . . . enlightenment.
On the other hand (pardon the pun), the finger pointing at 23.5 degrees symbolises imbalance, conflict, war,
strife, disease, death – everything associated with the mundane world of ego existence and physical suffering.
And we notice that the avenues of Washington at 23.5 degrees relates to the fallen world of Man, which one has to rise above to become as a god.
The
vertical axis represents Man ‘rising above’ and out of the tilted, oblique or imbalanced
world symbolised by these 23.5-degree angles.
Following the repetition of this symbolic signature of these two positions of the ‘John Gesture’, it’s more than likely that the angle of the left arm of George Washington as Zeus (see photo of statue above) – especially the sword he is holding in his left hand – is angled at 23.5 degrees.
This is also supported by what we see here in this painting of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart (1796) which now hangs in the White House.
Again, we have another
reference to the present obliquity of the Earth’s Axis, because Washington's
sword is angled at exactly 23.5 degrees . . .

Washington's feet are also
angled at 23.5 degrees aligned with the square pattern on the carpet which is also at the same angle – as is the arm of the ornate chair and a few other minor details.
But look at the index finger of
Washington’s left hand which is pointing straight down - the opposite direction
to the upright 'John Gesture'.
Why isn’t the finger pointing
upwards if this vertical position of the forefinger is ONLY related to the Kingdom of God?
Well as we can see, Washington's right index finger on his outstretched hand is pointing horizontally – i.e., perpendicular (90 degrees) to the left index finger which is pointing downwards – creating a square or cross . . . which means this can only be related to the square - being the Ecliptic Cross in respect of the Ecliptic Plane of the Sun.
So, George Washington appears to be telling us that he is upright and balanced – i.e., “On the level” or "On the square" . . . (a Masonic phrase.)
However, again, his sword, which is a symbol relating
to many things, like authority and power, but is also a symbol of conflict and war, is tilted at 23.5 degrees.
It does seem that the sword in
this painting, like others that show battons, spears and swords at this same
angle, is implying that like the human ego and those of us who engage in war, that the weapons of
war or conflict are objects that are not "upright" and developed due
to our “fall” from grace – as reflected in the tilt of the Earth’s Axis.
Again we see Washington standing upright with his feet on the Earth at 23.5 degrees.
In the painting below, we see all the limbs of the dead angled at 23.5 degrees – all at this angle except the man of God who is standing upright with an almost upright staff.

Only the limbs of the dead (except one) are angled at 23.5 degrees. Also note the 52-degree reference.
The simple message here is that the tilt of the Earth reflects the imbalance in humanity as a whole or the collective human psyche and/or vice-versa.
Therefore my theory is that the whole Messiah mythos is really about the Enlightened One who is able to to return the Earth's Axis back to its former upright position, and this is a metaphor:
It is about the One who is reborn over and over again to impart spiritual knowledge that will eventually lead to a paradigm shift and then to global enlightenment at the collective level . . . man's spiritual 're-alignment' with the Source Centre of Creation and via his own Axis.

I sent a link to an earlier draft of this article to Mark Koltko-Rivera's popular blog.
I had been told by other researchers that Mr. Koltko-Rivera is an intelligent and reliable source on Freemasonry, and so I thought that instead of checking the so-called "facts" I had gathered about Freemasonry from various sources (mostly from what has been banded around on the Internet), and as I really didn't have the time to follow them up, I thought it a good idea to just send Mark the article to read.
I was more concerned with the discoveries and insights I was putting forward about the map of Washington DC than any connections it might have with Freemasonry, which really isn't my subject.
As for the belief that what has been 'encoded' in the map of Washington had been implemented by the Freemasons, I really have no opinion one way or the other, and certainly no belief that the Freemasons are directly responsible. But I was interested to see what Mark, a 32nd-degree Mason, had to say about this - something that has always been controversial, and which others I have corresponded with will often take some personal issue with.
Naturally I expected some criticism from Mark on the references to Freemasonry but didn't expect him to go as far as he did in writing all off as 'my fantasy'.
I noticed that he also avoided the things I was really interested in bringing to light - such as the geophysical information encoded within the Great Pyramid and laid out in the avenues of Washington DC - and more importantly for that matter, references to the enlightenment experience known by the Hindus as Kundalini.
In any case, it was worth it all just to sort out the "wheat from the chaff" as it were.
I would like to add for the record that I respect Mark's knowledge and support many of his views.
