Gary has just finished a show for Sky which is scheduled to be broadcast in the spring 2008. I will post more information as I get it but in the meantime here is a little snippet of information from the man himself.
"It's a series on songwriters, each one concentrating on a different writer who talks to Will Hodgkinson and plays 2 or 3 of his own songs. I did True, Barricades and Inexperienced Man plus some snips of others. Phil Collins, Mick Hucknell and David Gray are some of the other writers featured. I really enjoyed it and we shot it all at my house"

Here is an article that appeared in 'The Independent' on 5th June 2006
No animal causes for Kemp
It's no secret that pop stars and charitable causes go together like salt and pepper.
But unlike Sir Paul McCartney, you won't find Spandau Ballet guitarist Gary Kemp rolling around on the ice to save seal pups.
"There is just so much emphasis on animal welfare with charity these days, I suppose," he told me at a private view of Amnesty International's Protect the Human campaign at the Hospital last week. "It just doesn't appeal to me, really, unlike Amnesty.
"When you hear of someone thrown in jail in some foreign country, you just presume he is guilty, but Amnesty are the ones who are always questioning it.
"That to me is a whole lot more important than fluffy animals."
I have just received some further news on Gary's film 'Poppies' which I thought would interest you. Gary's part in this film is not quite as straight forward as we thought. He is playing various characters from a seaside pleasure boat spieler, to the newly imposed Thatcherite head of the "Albion Theatre Company", to a member of the original "Albion Theatre" stock company, to a member of the West Front Association walking the Somme battlefieds, to a news cameraman at the same battlefields ...The director Barry Bliss is currently in negotiations with the Imperial War Museum North as he would like to premier the film during an exhibition on the Somme later this year. I will keep you informed of any updates as I get them.

18/11/05 New Diary entry on Gary's website
7/11/2005 Gary Has added a new entry to his diary in which he talks about the rehearsals for "The Rubenstein Kiss" and a TV programme he contributed about the 80's
17/10/05 Gary has added a new entry to the diary section of his website at http://www.garykemp.com/ .
One notable piece of news is that Gary will be presenting a show on BBC Radio 2 at 10pm on 19th October about the Beach Boys single, "Good Vibrations". For those of you that may be unable to get the radio station, or would like to hear it more than once, you can also listen to it via the web http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/ for up to a week afterwards. Gary says its worth listening to " as there are some interesting insights into what is one of the most innovative productions of all time".
Gary's musical 'Terrible Beauty' which he co-wrote with Guy Platt is unlikely to reasch the theatre in the near future. Although the play is finished and it seems everything is in place for this project to go ahead, Gary is having difficulty in findig a theatre which would be willing to stage it. For more details go to http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/no%20theatre%20for%20ballet
Gary is to appear in 'The Rubenstein Kiss' at the Hampstead Theatre in London between 17th November and 17th December. For more details about this play and to book tickets go to http://www.hampsteadtheatre.com/productions/the_rubenstein_kiss.asp
To accompany the showing of the 2nd series of M.I.T on ITV1 the first series has been released on DVD. This includes the episode starring Gary entitled 'Models and Millionaires' which was first screened in June 2003.
To read more about M.I.T go to http://thebillbios.co.uk/mit.htm
The DVD is available from a good selection of online DVD stores but do shop around as prices vary.
If you can't wait then the following website http://www.tvshows.org/index.php allows you to download the episode. One word of caution this site costs £11.88 for one years membership however you cannot view the content of the site without joining therefore unless you download regularily I would recommend buying the DVD.
In addition to the long awaited 'Spandau Ballet - Live at the NEC' DVD, Sony will also be re-releasing Gary's only solo album 'Little Bruises' so we have go a double treat on the 25th July.
This is a brilliant collection of very beautiful songs which Gary wrote post Spandau Ballet. If you have not yet heard this albunm you have been misisng out. The only criticism I have of this re-release is that it is not on DVD
The album will be available to all download service providers with an extra track of "Is It Anyway To Behave?". There will also be a download only EP which will have a new track called "Your Splendid Light" which Gary recently wrote with Stephen Lironi. That will include acoustic versions of "Inexperienced Man" and "These Are The Days" and the single remix of "My Lady Soul".
Gary has said that he will be performing on stage again in "The Rubenstein Kiss" although this will not be as originally planned with Helena Bonham-Carter.
'The Rubenstein Kiss' will be at the Hampstead Theatre in London from November to Christmas Eve. I will update you on further information as I get it.

Further to the post below I have now been informed that the release of both the "Spandau Ballet Live at the NEC" dvd and the re-release of "Little Bruises" is scheduled for 1st August 2005. As always, this is subject to change, however I have also been told that the organisation for the event that is likely to accompany the release is near completion.
The "Spandau Ballet live at the NEC" DVD is not going to be released on 16th May as has been reported on a number of websites.
The lastest news I have been given is that
"The DVD is ready to release and will come out this summer. However, there are a number of issues"................ "which will assuming they come off, be very exciting and contribute hugely to the launch of the project".
I will of course bring you further information as I get it.

Good News the Spandau Ballet live 5.1 widescreen DVD is ready to go. As well as the live show extras include all the Sony Videos from "Fight for Ourselves" through to "Crashed into Love. There is also a documentary on the making of the video "Fight for Ourselves", plus commentary throughout the live show from Gary and Martin. Sony/BMG are hoping for an April release so if Gary does go ahead with the plans for some screenings we should hear about these soon.
10/11/04 Gary chats to Danny Baker about Live Aid http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/insideldn/dannybaker/index.shtml
For those of you who can't listen to the interview. as well as talking about Live Aid, Gary talks about the support he has from all over the world regarding a Spandau Ballet reunion, but says he doesn't think Tony is ready for it yet. Clearly this shows that Gary is still very much in favour of a reunion and that the door is open for Tony if/when he changes his mind.
Gary also says that he would like to do some more stage acting, maybe this will be "Rubensteins Kiss", or there are other projects in the pipeline.
The best news though and something that I personally have been hoping for since Gary mentioned going to see Steve Norman in Ibiza, is that he may be doing something musical with Steve. This would be fantastic especially if it resulted in some live gigs, fingers crossed.

Whilst I have been on my annual holidays 2 new articles have appeared in the press.
The Independent (London, England); 8/20/2004; Adams, Guy
`Kiss' is put on hold for Helena
A SETBACK for Helena Bonham Carter, in her bid to become the next Hollywood star to tread the boards in the West End.
The producers of Rubenstein's Kiss - a star-studded play that will feature both Bonham Carter, left, and Gary Kemp - have put its release back from November until the new year, due to "scheduling problems".
"There were difficulties fitting it in with Helena's schedule," they say. "However, it's still very much on the front burner and will definitely go ahead. A lot of other big names have expressed an interest, but until we have dates finalised they can't commit."
The play, written by James Phillips, is already being tipped to make as many headlines as theatreland's current hot ticket, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It will also mark Bonham Carter's first serious assignment since the birth of her son, Billy Ray.

Gary Kemp's sofa supper
The 44-year-old actor and former Spandau Ballet guitarist lives with his wife Lauren and five-week-old son Milo Wolf in the West End and Oxfordshire. 'Our country home is a real bolt hole and ever since Milo was born we've spent most of the time there, with dinner inevitably being in front of the telly.
Lauren is a brilliant cook but I'm doing all the cooking at the moment - she's feeding Milo and I'm feeding her.'
Who's on the sofa? Me, Lauren, Milo and my 13-year-old son Finlay [with Sadie Frost].
What's on the menu? Fin and I often make stinging nettle soup. We get the nettles from the woods and just cook them like spinach with onion and vegetable stock.
We also catch crayfish to cook on the barbecue.
Pudding? We love Ben & Jerry's Phish Food. I'm aiming to make Eton Mess - a mashed-up trifle that already looks like a failure, so you can't go wrong!
To drink? Red wine - always French, usually Bordeaux. We celebrated Milo's birth with a Chateau Margaux, so that's our absolute favourite.
On the box? Because we've been staying in so much we've worked our way through the entire series of Brideshead Revisited. My ideal Sunday would be dinner in front of the telly watching an Ealing Comedy.
Fantastic news, in a poll to find the best number 1's of all time "True" made number 19 a remarkable achievement. The poll was run by VH1 and attracted over 25000 votes. For more info go to http://www.itv.com/news/1640430.html
21/7/04 This evening I got home from work to find the news that we have all been waiting for, the arrival of who has affectionally been known, since November, as baby Kemp. I thought Lauren looked a bit uncomfortable at Bedbug and now I know why.
"During the show Lauren
started to go into labour and the next day our baby son was born! He's
called Milo Wolf Kemp and is a beauty! The night certainly was
eventful!" (Gary Kemp)
Many congratulations to Gary, Lauren and Finlay
An additional review of Bedbug at the National theatre plus photographs can be found on GK's Spot (Gary's Official Site) at http://www.garykemp.de/
Two pieces of news directly from Gary.
Firstly baby Kemp is now not due to put in an appearance for another week.
Secondly on a sadder note, as I feared, the report in "The Independent" regarding Gary's new play was a little premature, Gary said that it was very unlikely to happen now until next year, and worse, that because of this he may not be doing it . Of course I will keep you updated with any further information as I get it.
Below is an extract of an article that appeared in "The Independent" on 22/6/04. Although "The Independent" is one of the more reputable newspapers, as the sources of the information contained in the article are un-named it is not possible to assess the reliability of the information. I will, of course, update you on any further developments as I get them.
HELENA BONHAM Carter is about to become the latest Hollywood star to tread the boards in the West End.
In her first serious acting assignment since the birth of her first child Billy Ray (father: Tim Burton), the London-born beauty will appear alongside the former Spandau Ballet star Gary Kemp in an, as yet, unnamed show this autumn.
"It's a new play, from a pretty well-known writer, and rehearsals start in October," says one member of the cast.
"The loose ends of the contracts are being tied up, and nothing will be announced about it for a week or two, but take it as read that it'll be big news."
Details of the project were yesterday being kept under wraps. Spokesmen for both Bonham Carter and Kemp confirmed that they would be collaborating on a production, but declined to reveal further details.

5/5/04 Gary tonight mentioned that he may be appearing in the West End for approximately 2 months from August 2004. He said that he could not yet confirm any details, as nothing has been finalised although it has been reported in the "Daily Express" that the name of this play is, "Rubensteins Kiss". The play is about the Rosenbergs Trials and is about "a love story, a spy story, a story of a family torn apart, and a story of government overreaching".(Doug Linder 2001). I will keep you posted on developments as I get them.
