| What we believe? |
|
|---|---|
| The Bible: | We believe that the Bible (both Old and New Testaments) comprise the Word of God. We believe that the original manuscripts of the Bible were free from error. We believe that the Bible is our supreme authority in faith and practice. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21) |
| The Godhead: | We believe that God is spirit, eternally existing in three persons - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and these three (the Trinity) are of one essence, equal in power in worthy of worship (Deut 6:4; Matt. 29:19; John 4:24; II Cor. 13:14) |
| Jesus: | We believe Jesus Christ became man through conception by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35; Matt. 1:18-25), without and change in his eternal deity. He took upon Himself the likeness of sinful flesh, yet remained without sin. He died on the cross in our place, a perfect and complete sacrifice for our sins (John 1:14; Rom. 3:24-26; I Peter 2:24). He arose bodily from the dead (I Cor. 15; John 20:24-28), and ascended into heaven, where He is now interceding for us (Heb. 4:14-16) |
| Salvation: | We believe that our salvation is the free gift of
God's grace and is received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ and his crucifixion for our behalf and his resurrection
from the dead (Heb. 9:22; I Peter 2:24; Rom. 4:25). We also believe that those who are forgiven of God are kept by God's power, and it is the privilege of all believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation (I Peter 1:3-5; John 5:24; Eph 4:30; I John 5:11-12; Rom 8:16, 31-39) |
| The Church: | We believe that all those who have trusted Christ are a part of the universal church and are directed to associate themselves in a local, visible church. As a church we are to be united to one another and to Christ through the baptizing work of the Holy Spirit (I Cor 12:12-27). Two ordinances have been committed to the local church - baptism and communion. (I Cor. 11:23-26; Matt. 28:19-20; Rom. 6:3-13) |
| The Future: | We believe in the blessed hope, which is the personal, visible, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (I Thes. 4:13-18) |
