In the long, hot summer of 2003 we moved to our first suburban paradise close to the sea. The garden turned out to be a peculiarly shaped bit of land. The layout was fine but much of the plant life had died. Only a couple of shrubs were still standing. I knew little of gardening but was soon cought by the virus. Little by little a green haven was born. We called it "The Court"
In the summer of 2006 I finally obtained my own allotment. Here you can see how a jungle of brambles and nettles changed, slowly but surely, into a little paradise called "Court of Sweetness".
To my big surprise I was granted another allotment in the spring of 2007. It's adjacent to the "Court of Sweetness". What was I to do with another 60 square meters extra? As I was still recovering from building my first vegetable/fruit garden, I decided to keep this one low profile for a while. No fences or pergola's! Here I would grow vegetables that needed more space, like cabbage and courgettes. There's also room to sow a lot of flowers. Keeping in mind the utility aspect of this garden, and to stay in line with the names of the other gardens, we baptised this one "The Kitchen Court".
