Profile: Kurono was a high-school student with a preoccupation with huge titties. You first meet him when he's standing in a subway bitching about people, being the asshole he is. His long-lost best friend Kato from elementary school suddenly appears and they both watch some fat, drunk hobo stumble and fall onto the subway tracks. Kurono is preoccupied with wanting to see the guy get killed while Kato decides to help and says "I'll do it." Kato recognizes Kurono, and Kurono for whatever reason decides to help out and rushes off to save the guy too. They save the bum but in return get splattered into chunks by a subway train. They then appear in the fated room and our story begins.
Kurono sees the MYSTERIOUS NISHI put on the suit and decides to do so as well, thus ensuring his and Kato's survival. Kurono doesn't do much in the first mission but by the second one he's killing heaps of fucking aliens. His kills are probably racked up to around 30 or 40 aliens up to the latest issue. Titz might not have worked out, but he managed to bang Sakuraoka Sei, the Lara Croft look a like from Tomb Raider and Kojima Tae some titty-less bitch with minimal effort. Sure, he's an asshole, but he's pretty badass as well. At least he's not crying constantly like Kato.
 
Masaru Kato
GANTZ Name: Kato-cha (lol)
High Point: Beating the holy fuck out of a gigantic gay boxer while he was taking a shit in the school bathroom.

First Appearance: Volume 1, Chapter 0001 (Pre-Onion Mission)
Profile: Masaru Kato is one of the anime/manga archtypes of the world. Wants to protect his friends but also doesn't want to kill the enemy. Was "attacked" by the same subway train that killed Kurono just because he wanted to save the life of a drunk. He often cries which, I guess we can't fault him since that seems to be a feature of the many characters in GANTZ. In fact I think Titz has cried the least of the four main characters. Man whatever.
He's probably the most popular character among most fans because he's heroic and not such a dick like Kurono is. But aside from kicking alot of ass without the suit, during the rounds his greatest purpose is to explain what the fuck is going on to the new contestants. His "I must save everyone, even the villians" mentality probably cost more lives than they saved but thankfully before the Buddha arc he realizes that the quickest way to get out of there is to kill as many aliens as possible but it was too late and got kill by the 1000 hands buddha spawn now at chapter 217 Suzuki (the old man) gave his point up to revive him let see now if he can survive longer this time.
  Kishimoto Kei [Current condition:Dead]
GANTZ Name: Titz
High Point: The time she had huge tits.

First Appearance: Volume 1, Chapter 0002 (Onion Mission)
Profile: Yeah, you know that term fan service? Titz is almost entirely fan service. Around 90% of her appearances in GANTZ she's been topless, constantly taking showers or changing clothes and what not. The only real effect she has on the manga is that people are constantly trying to bang her. Anyways Kishimoto first appeared naked in the GANTZ room so Kurono could grope and make-out with her unconscious body. After the dog licked her pussy, she ran around for awhile and got chased by Onion Dad. When they returned home, she discovered that her original body was still living and that she could no longer return home. Using Kurono's handbook, she went to his apartment so Kurono could continue to grope and make-out with her while she cries. She also kills more aliens than Kato. Fuck.
She also pioneered the rule that if a female has huge breasts in GANTZ, she'll be an important character. And that's pretty much all there is to Kei. Oh, in the anime instead of being quiet and reserved she instead calls Kurono a pervert constantly.
 
GANTZ Name: Mr. Nishi
High Point: Using the word "hypocrite" twenty times over three chapters.

Profile: Nishi is a huge prick who apparently knows a shit load about GANTZ but rather spend his time exploding cats, instead of sharing his valuable information. He pretty much hates everyone and doesn't say much in hopes that the GANTZ people will dick around and distract the alien by being ripped apart or whatever so he can sneak up, get the kill, and steal all the points. He also seems to be the only one at first who knows how to use the cloaking device which is built into the suit.
Despite all his experience and neat gadgets, he apparently wasn't that badass he thought he was. He got himself killed by a Tanaka alien, which even Titz was able to take out. But to be fair he took the Tanaka alien head on and it fought back while Titz snuck up on one and shot it in the back. Meanwhile, Kurono fought giant statue monsters and managed to whip most of their asses. You're letting me down guy.
GANTZ Name: Dog
High Point: Eating Kishimoto Out

Profile: He's a dog chosen by GANTZ who apparently survived many rounds. I'm not exactly sure how he didn't go out of bounds by accident. Maybe he was scared of the cell ringer, I guess. Anyways, you got to be wondering what the fuck GANTZ is doing if he's going to have a dog fight an alien anyways he stopped coming to the room after the Buddha mission in the manga he went missing meaning died and in the anime he got stepped on by a Buddha alien.
Tetsuo (Tetchan) [Current condition:Dead]
GANTZ Name: Freak Parade No. 1
High Point: Blowing up his landlord's skull in an empty lot.

Profile: The leader of a local Zoku (biker) gang who fucks his ugly wife and pulls down old, drunk men's pants down for fun. Yeah, he's not too exciting, which is even weirder why the anime tried to make him out as a decent human being. His wife has a tragic, milkless nipple disease or something. He tells Nishi that he would forgive him for exploding his friend if he apologizes. Wow. Anyways he originally died by getting stabbed by some opposing gang members.
Masanobu Hojo [Current condition:Dead]
GANTZ Name: Homo
High Point: Wore his clothes over his suit like a champ.
Quote: "No- I'm not-! Fuck you guys! W-Why ... Why would I wanna-?!"
Profile: A famous and loved model who helped Kato squeeze fake robots. Has a stalker that looks like the girl from "The Ring" and apparently everyone thinks he's a homosexual. I wonder how GANTZ finds these things out. Anyway, he originally died in a giant car accident while riding a motorcycle.
GANTZ Name: Sadako
High Point: Snuck onto Homo's motorcycle without being noticed.

Profile: Spends her time not combing her hair and wearing bedsheets fashioned into shirts while stalking famous model Masanobu Hojo. Somehow she later becomes less insane or something. I guess she was just misunderstood! Originally died in a giant car accident while riding on a motorcycle.
 
Shion Izumi
GANTZ Name: Izumi
High Point: Dressing up like a black person and killing over eight hundred people in one day.

First Appearance: Volume 8, Chapter 92 (Pre-Midget Mission)
Profile: A mysterious transfer student arrives at Kurono's high school and Kurono is forced to give him a tour and help him adjust to school life. When Kurono does his daily routine of ass-kicking from a bunch of shitheads without getting a single scratch, interests Izumi who starts to ponder the situation. Izumi asks him if he knows what GANTZ is, and Kurono of course says no to avoid getting his head blown up. Izumi invites himself over to Kurono's house so he can show him a web page about GANTZ which, apparently was created by Nishi. More dodging from Kurono and fast forward to when the Midget alien slaughters Kurono's school, Izumi manages to fight the fucker off with a desk. Fast forward even further and now Izumi's curiosity is piqued. He finds a miniature GANTZ ball in his room that tells him, in so many words, to bring people to the room. Izumi tells Kurono that he believes he once was a GANTZ contestant and that he remembers a certain hunt on Shinjuku street.
He now plans to go back to Shinjuku street, dressed as a black man, and kill everyone with an arsenal of guns that he got God knows where. After killing around eight hundred people (included our three new heroes) without somehow being stopped by police (or even seeing one for that matter), he drops his disguise and kidnaps Kurono's girlfriend, Kojima Tae. Izumi then invites Kurono to some mall and challenges him to a duel where Kurono can't wear his GANTZ suit and must use his X-Gun as a weapon. Kurono gets shot in the chest by the crafty motherfucker but not before he locked on to Izumi and blew him up. Izumi goes to the room and Kurono begins to teleport (saving his life) only to get his ass knocked out. Izumi remembers a secret room that unlocks when the GANTZ ball hands out the weapons. He grabs his now signature katana and goes off to fight dinosaurs.
Sakurai Hiroto
GANTZ Name: Cherry(sakura)
High Point: Blowing the PE teacher's cock up.
Quote: "I need to ... kill this guy! I will ... kill this guy!”
First Apperance: Volume 10, Chapter 109 (Pre-Dinosaur Mission)
Profile: Effeminate soccer fan plans to kill himself and tells everyone on the internet. After pussing out, a mysterious mystery man decked out in goofy, camo shit arrives and floats tea and shit in front of Sakurai. Yes, this man has the unique ability of ESP and was also a bullied person. He gives the powers to Sakurai somehow and tells his new friend to kill them all. One person online named Tonkotsu is happy that Cherry (what a faggit name) is alive but wishes he wouldn't go kill people or whatever. Anyway, gay shit happens and the soccer team grabs Hiroto and leads him to the bathroom. And apparently like, all thugs in Japanese high schools they're gay and want Hiroto to suck off the PE teacher. But Hiroto has other plans! First, he blows a vein on one guy's brain and then literally blows up the PE teacher's cock. He explodes the brain of another guy and then stops the last one's heart. He then goes to visit Tonkotsu who is, suprisingly, a woman! Unfortunately for him, they went to visit Shinjuku, during Izumi's genocidal killing spree. Mr. Sakata shows up out of nowhere and the two attempt to battle black Izumi. The little Faggit Sakurai watches his sensei die in front of him and, in a blind rage, fucking psychic throws Izumi into the air. But due to Izumi's insane accuracy, he manages to get off a few shots while twenty feet in the air. Sakurai is then sent off to the GANTZ room where use his power aloneside with Sakata to survive the game but dies at the hands of the Fire Oni but taking the Oni vision with him but after the Oni mission he is revive by his master Sakata.
Sakata (Sensei)
GANTZ Name: Dumbass ...
High Point: Well, stopping dozens of rounds of machine gun fire with his psychic abilities. It is the best.
Quote: "Yeah, that's right ... I killed them all!"
First Appearance: Volume 10, Chapter 109 (Pre-Dinosaur Mission)
Profile: Mr. Sakata, I guess, hangs out in web pages where bullied teens talk about killing themselves but then puss out or whatever and discovers Cherry. I guess he is deeply touched by his story and goes over to his house to save the kid's life and teach him how to blow up cocks with only his brain. Sakata tells Sakurai that he too was once a bullied student until he decided to somehow get psychic powers and kill them all. After lifting up acoffee cup and doing other neat tricks, he tells Sakurai that he now has the power and to go kill those bullies. He later manages to "run into" Sakurai accidentally and tries to hit on Tonkotsu. But before long, Izumi's marching down a street made of bodies and the party is over. Sakata uses his powers to catch bullets but I guess he strains himself too hard and he gets shot in the eye and, of course, sent off to the GANTZ room where he'll spend his time blowing up the hearts of aliens and even getting the 100 + points but he use them to revive hi friend and aprentice Sakurai.
 
GANTZ Name: Countryside General
High Point: Beating the shit out of like thirty guys at once and somehow manages not to be caught.
Quote: "Don't feel bad ... I'll soon be Japan's number one fighter!"
First Appearance: Volume 10, Chapter 115 (Pre-Dinosaur Mission)
Profile: This guy seriously just walks around Japan with his Ryu-style bag of necessities and starts shit with people. He beats up a park filled with gang members, randomly beats the shit out of high school students until facing off with the gay boxer that wanted to fuck Kato. After that he asks a Mexican boxer for his autograph only to tear it up and dump it on his head. Soon after that, he shoulder blocks the motherfucker ten feet away. After kicking Japan's ass, he faces off with Kurono and actually manages to go toe to toe without a suit. Unfortunately, Kurono tackles him into the second floor of some building. He then declares Kurono his new master and proceeds onto Shinjuku where Izumi is currently killing the universe. He grabs the body of some fat guy and uses it as a shield, declaring that he can even do shit against bullets. But we all know the answer. He manages to execute his badass shoulder-block, knocking the fuck out of Nigzumi. Unfortunately, Izumi has an uzi and manages to fire off three shots into our champ's stomach. Kaze then tries to salvage the situation and proceeds to choke Izumi with one arm for no explained reason. Izumi shoots him in the legs until they turn to mush and he Kaze hits the ground. Izumi finishes him off with a clip to the face. Fortunately for Kaze, he can now be the strongest fighter in the universe as he shoulder blocks insane fat aliens to fucking alien hell.

She gets chewed on by two T-Rexes and blushes constantly when she sees Kurono. She's pretty much here to show the audience that Kurono is so badass that a super model/actress even loves him. And the manga needed more tits. She's one of the last to teleport so she's just in time to benefit from Kurono's wisdom. She gets a suit but pretty much does nothing the entire arc. Profile: I have a strong feeling that he's going to be the Nishi/Sadako/Sniper of this arc as he hasn't done shit and he lives through the mission. All we know is that he had a girlfriend who may or may not have died at Shinjuku and that GANTZ says he's "Trying too hard to act cool." He also kind of looks like Kato. Update: I was right. When Team Izumi and Team Kurono are formed, he joins Team Izumi and pretty much leads the Gang-Rape Gang against Kurono. After Kurono powers down all of their suits, Inaba gets super pissed and just kicks the holy fuck out of Kurono. I guess Kurono can take down gigantic statue monsters but some guy who has a vanishing goatee is too much for him.

GANTZ Name: Baldy

Profile: One of three (out of like 25) contestants in the Dinosaur Arc that manages to wear a suit. Kurono awakens after being turned into a bitch to find some old guy just standing there alone in the GANTZ room. He demands that the guy put on a suit and the two go on an adventure. A raptor jumps out of nowhere and chews on Baldy's head. Kurono kills it and the Old Man discovers the super powers of the suit. Soon after that, Kurono and Baldy stumble upon a brontosaurus and the old man goes on and on about it eating grass until Kurono blows its head off. The thing starts whipping the ground with its bleeding neck and the Baldy lifts it into the air like a badass. They eventually get on the GANTZ bike and drive away from T-Rexes and the old man saves Kurono's life about seven hundred times. A deep bond forms as the old man and Kurono battle the Dino Boss together.After everyone begins teleporting, extras from Blade start shooting the black people. The old man shields Kurono from the bullets and attempts to battle the suit-wearing vampire thingies. One does a cool flip and stabs the buttons on Baldy's suit with his fingers, rendering them useless. Izumi saves Old Man temporarily before being sent and the blond, faggit looking vampire cuts old man open. As he lays there dying, he thinks about his wife (I guess) until he is teleported back to the room. Then he goes to Kurono's house and hangs out with the rest of the GANTZ team to learn more about Kurono expirence in Gantz. He gains 100+ point after the Oni mission and use them to bring back Kato.

GANTZ is acting like asshole once again sending a 3 or 4 year old kid to fight on a mission.
