Galway Dive Club

Galway Dive Club was formed in 2003 to facilitate divers in Galway area (be they CMAS, PADI, NAUI, SSI etc) who want to go diving. It is a fairly easy going club with a focus on diving rather than certification, which aims to foster diving activities through the cooperation of its members. The club dives the inner Galway Bay, the Aran Islands, Connemara and the coast of Clare as they are all accessible from Galway.

The GDC has 35 members approx with a wide variety of experience from all PADI levels from Instructor to Open Water/Club Diver/ Leading Divers with a mixture in between of Dive Masters, Rescue Divers and Adv. Open Water divers, there are also some divers from other organisations.

The GDC also has the aim of providing assistance for those with physical disabilities who wish to become scuba divers, primarily via IAHD and their volunteer buddy system.

The club itself does not run any training courses and only people with a valid certification can join, but it has a close liaison with the Galway Dive School which runs PADI and IAHD certified courses in the Galway area and which also can supply discounted rental equipment for club members.
