Ok. I thought that for $149.00 at Wal-Mart I'd give it a spin. Well, to my supprise it has actually performed quite well. Better than the only real competitor, the Hasbro ZoomBox. I was skeptical about the resolution (320X240) and the prospect of only using an MR-16 35W Halogen bulb didn't sound too probable, but all in all, it's a decent little box, sometimes a little loud, but overall I'm quite pleased with my purchase. My only complaint, is that the fan on the unit is louder than I would have liked, but not too overly loud. The fan is no louder than some of the older style LCD projectors from a few years ago.
I've compiled some sample shots taken from a Canon G2 mounted on a tripod and used as my backdrop the only large area availble. Keep in mind that the color of the test wall was yellow, so whites are not exactly the best they can be.
Take a look and judge for your self. Ignore the Gizmodo review, since they did not have clue on how to test this thing properly.
Photos synopsis:
Things to remember:
1. The room must be dark
2. Keep the projector no farther than 12-14' from the wall.
3. Check for proper focus
4. (Movies tend to be darker, since from a DVD player, ... The output from a Cable box works best!
Enjoy,
