Zsa Zsa Gabor Home After Hospital Stay

06/30/2009

Zsa Zsa Gabor is back in her Beverly Hills home after a six-day hospital stay due to flu-like symptoms, according to the glamour figure's husband, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, the Associated Press reports.

Said to be in frail health, Gabor, 92, remains partially paralyzed after a car accident in 2002 and a reported stroke in 2005.

The former Miss Hungary, the great-aunt of Paris Hilton (through her 1942-47 marriage to hotel magnate Conrad Hilton, one of Gabor's nine husbands), has long been credited as being the first celebrity who was famous for being famous. Her love affairs and marriages made headlines more than her acting work, though she appeared in three 1950s Hollywood screen classics, Moulin Rouge, Lili and Touch of Evil.

Zsa Zsa's equally glamorous (and younger) sister, Eva Gabor, is remembered for her role on the '60s sitcom Green Acres. Eva died in 1995.

Zsa Zsa Gabor And Husband Prince Frederic Feed The Needy

For the sixteenth year, Zsa Zsa Gabor and husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt purchased 300 Thanksgiving turkeys at Albertson’s Market in Santa Monica for the Vera Davis McClendon Youth & Family Center in Venice.  The McClendon Center is where Ms. Gabor did her community service after slapping a cop 16 years ago. Ms. Gabor and Prince Frederic have purchased Thanksgiving turkeys for the Vera Davis Community Center in Venice every year since she did her community service with them.

Bygones obviously being bygones, the Mayor’s office presented Ms. Gabor and Prince Frederic certificates of appreciation for all they have done for the community.

“We decided to make Thanksgiving a part of the people’s lives at the center when Zsa Zsa was helping out and bought them all turkeys that year,” said Prince Frederic.  “Back then it was only 40, but now it’s grown to over 300. Vera passed away a few years ago, but we have continued the tradition of giving turkeys to the poor families that the center helps support to make it a happy Thanksgiving for everyone there,” he continued.
