For Tanpopo Yamazaki, life at the elitist Meio Academy seems way out of her league. The daughters of wealthy families snub her; other students make light of the fact that she actually tested into Meio instead of relying on family connections, and the cute boy she saw tending a dandelion the day before wouldn't even acknowledge her existence. Hoping to make friends and have some fun, Tanpopo starts up a gardening committee, but will this help her survive in a school where superficiality and nepotism reign supreme? IMA DOKI follows the trials and tribulations of a budding horticulturist as she makes her way down the winding road to friendship.

Background: Tanpopo is the heroine of the manga. A cheery girl who just transfered to Meio academy and wanted to make lots of friends. But instead of what she expected, she became an outcast in the school because she did not come from a rich family and just entered through an exam. But instead of discouraging Tanpopo in school, she just gets more determined to make friends even with all the bad things and insults her fellow classmates did to her. Her love interest is Kugyou Kouki. Has a protective pet fox named Poplar and is part of the gardening comittee. Btw, Tanpopo means "dandelion".

Background: Kouki is the first person Tanpopo meets before school starts. When they met again in school, he claims that he doesn't know Tanpopo. He was also mean and harsh to the dandelions Tanpopo planted compared to the other day when Tanpopo first met him. Kouki also comes from the richest family in Tokyo that is why he has power in his school and they all do what he commands. He made the gardening committee later on in the story. He likes Tanpopo but is engaged to Erika who's supposed to be his older brother's fiancé but he ran away and so she ended up with Kouki.

Name: Saionji Tsukiko
Age: 15
Nicknames: Tsuki
Background: Saionji first appears to be making friends with Tanpopo compared to the other students in school. But later on we find out that her ulterior motive is to get Tanpopo away from Kouki and for the meantime get Kouki to be on her side. She's after Kouki because of his money and power. Then later she calls Kouki her husband although they aren't married. She declares to Tanpopo that they are rivals but she still goes with Tanpopo and talks to her. Saionji also comes from a wealthy family.

Name: Aoi
Nicknames: Flippy [by Tanpopo]
Age: 15
Background: Ah.. isn't he just out favorite psycho? Aoi is the guy who's always typing in his laptop and walkman in his ears. Your impression on him could be that he's a lunatic running around school. He's good at computers seeing that he's hacked into the school system and actually tricked Tanpopo and Kouki to go to the office because of the student application form.  (HE'S MY FAVORITE CHARACTER! *GLOMPAGE*)

Name: Uchimura Arisu
Age: 15
Background: Arisu also attends in Meio academy. She's a ganguro. She always 'plays' around, like in clubs or hotels. She slept with the student council president and got pregnant. Later on, she becomes part of the gardening committee.
