Well In school I had to do a essay on child labour in the 18th century. It is so lurid, that I just HAD to share it with you. Please read with care. This is MY ESSAY, I wrote on my own, so no stealing [Who knows why i said that. WHo's gonna steal my child labour essay?]. So I'll just add a copyright on it...And viola! So yeah, you can comment about this essay, on the chat-box page...Enjoy...I guess.

CHILD LABOUR

Children as young as six once worked 16 hours per day in Britain’s factories. Child Labour in the 18th century Britain was harsh and cruel. They worked long hours and for little pay. They survived on poor quality food that was provided in limited quantity. Children also endured harsh punishments for little reason.

The child workers had long and harsh hours. Some times the hours were up to 16 a day. During this entire time, they were only allowed one 40 minute break. Children as young as 6 began work at this cruel place. Of course the kids must’ve got sick or injured, and probably required medical attention, but doctors though 10 hours per day, should be the max! Now you think the cruel people who force this, wouldn’t bother paying them, but they do…Sometimes. You see the factory clocks were changed to cheat the workers out of their pay. How horrible this must’ve been! I can’t bare to listen, nor look at my own writing!

Next topic is food. To keep there workers strong enough to labour, they had to feed them, however ruthless the slave drivers were. The children were given one meal per day. The limited food they were given was often contaminated. The workers, although neededs much nourishment as possible were given food with strictly limited quantity, and poor quality. The quality was so poor, that a most fancy meal would be…as good as cheese and most likely stale bread. Most of the slave’s meals were eaten while standing up, and working. You can just imagine the poor soles munching down the only food they had in a day…

The next thing I will talk about is the most ghastly, and cruel. If a child was working slow, they would be strapped, to make them go faster. One can’t force their tired body to become untired, but the children had to do it. Runaway workers would go straight to prison, but really, the child would think it better than the place they worked at. Potential runaways were put in irons, and still had to work. If they were drowsy they would be dipped in a water cistern, to waken their minds. How lurid! The beatings the children had to endure were so severe and repulsive, that it caused bleeding and even death! Also if one was late to their slave job, they were fined credibly. This is most horrendous!

Child workers worked extremely long hours. They were provided with poor quality food. The workers were harshly punished for minor faults. Without a doubt child labourers in 18th century Britain were harshly and cruelly treated. Even today children still work under similar conditions, in many parts on the world.
