The top layer of the wedding cake is saved and frozen by the bride and groom and eaten by the couple on their first anniversary.
When should I order my cake?: As a general rule I suggest you book two to six months in advance for a wedding cake and one month for a celebration cake, but I can often accommodate last minute orders. Contact me ASAP to schedule an appointment.
Do you deliver? Delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require special care in transport and/or onsite assembly. Delivery and set up is $35.00 if your event location is within a 20 mile radius of my location. An additional charge of $50.00 per hour (round trip) will be applied for distances beyond 20 miles. Set up does not include table draping's or decorations.
Do you provide fresh flowers to decorate my cake? Yes, but it will cost you extra for my time, supplies required and arragment. Any rare or hard to get flowers that you want placed on your cake will need to be ordered from your florist and delivered to me or your event location.
What is your payment policy? I require a 50% deposit at the time of your booking to secure your date. The remainder of your payment is due two weeks before your event date.
What happens if I have to reschedule my event date? If you must change your event date I will try my best to accommodate you but, I cannot guarantee I will have your new date open.
Isn't it cheaper to get a fake display cake and serve sheet cakes? No. Styrofoam “dummy cakes” cost just as much as the raw ingredients for a baked cake. The bulk of the cost of your cake is in the decorating and that costs the same no matter what it is on. Then you will be paying for the sheet cakes which cost the same amount as a tiered wedding cake. You will end up paying more for a display cake and kitchen cakes than you would if you ordered the appropriate servings of wedding cake.
Does Fondant taste bad? No, it tastes like vanilla flavored sugar, all fondant has a chewy effect to it and can easily be peeled away from the cake leaving the underlayment of icing in tack for those not desiring to eat it. Fondant allows for a wonderfully smooth canvas in which to bring your cake to life.
Can we have more than one cake flavor in our cake or does it have to all be the same? Please feel free to choose any cake flavor and combination you desire. I do not limit you to one flavor for your whole cake. If you have multiple flavors in your cake, you may want to order more servings since your guests may be inclined to sample more than one flavor.
Why are your cakes more expensive than grocery stores? Each individual cake is a labor of love, and the time it takes from beginning to end is primarily what you are paying for with your custom-designed edible work of art. From the simplest cake with basic decorations taking approximately 10-12 hours to complete, to larger cakes taking a minimum of 40-50 hours to complete, not including the time invested in consultations and design. The other costs are comprised of the cost of ingredients, overhead, and supplies such as cake and presentation boards, support structures, cake boxes, etc.. Each cake is also incredibly moist and delicious, because I hold very high standards, and use only the finest ingredients. You can expect your centerpiece to taste as good as it looks.
