AFC Frogmore 6-2 Razors Blades
Team: Egg, Pemberton, Codd, Cullington, O.Pemberton, Clements, North
After a great start to the league season with a win over rivals Dream Team last week, The Lemons were hoping for a repeat result tonight against newly promoted Razors Blades. North, Codd and both Pembertons returned to the team tonight so that meant there was no room for Levett and Morley.
The game got off to a pacey start, with Frogmore showing lots of confidence going forward and on the ball. North created the first couple of chances. One just narrowly going wide with his left foot and another parried away by the keeper. Frogmore were growing in confidence as Blades were struggling to get any foothold in the game. North and Clements were struggling to click together upfront but Clements was still able to show why Levett brought him into the team, with a super mazy run but his shot just going wide of the mark. North then came closest to scoring in the first half with his fierce left footed strike being tipped onto the bar and post by the keeper. You could see where the game was going at this moment as Razors Blades put together their first meaningful attack with a angled shot going wide. However despite Egg being barely tested in the first half, Frogmore went behind as they were caught on the counter attack. Egg tried reading a pass across goal but the ball was originally blocked by Pemberton only for it to fall back to the path of the striker to shoot into an empty net. So Razors Blades took the lead despite the fact that they had not been in the game. Frogmore continued to press in search this time for an equaliser but were being denied by good defending and goalkeeping.
Halftime came from Dale's crap tattoo and despite Frogmore's dominance, it was 1-0 to the opposition.
Frogmore started the second half in the same way they started the first half with the same style of play. Passing the ball around quickly and along the floor was still giving Blades trouble so it was only a matter of time before Frogmore got a goal.
Frogmore did manage to find the back of the net and it was Pete Clements with his second goal in two games for Frogmore, turning away from the defender, with a deflected shot that this time favoured Frogmore by moving away from the keeper and into the net to put Frogmore deservedly level. The momentum was with Frogmore and moments later they made it 2-1 when O.Pemberton put Cullington in on goal. As Cullington tried chipping the oncoming keeper, the keeper parried it back off Cullingtons legs and slowly rolled into the net. So Frogmore had suddenly turned it around in a matter of minutes and had made a game of it. For the first time in the match, Razors blades had managed to put together a period of pressure in which Egg was called into action to make some super saves to keep Frogmore ahead. At this stage the next goal would be crucial and thankfully it went to Frogmore as Pemberton won the ball from the keepers kick and played it into North who had an easy finish with his left foot to make it 3-1 to Frogmore.
Blades were still trying to push for a goal to give them some hope of getting into the game but were punished again with another counter attack as North won the ball from the keeper who was on the halfway line, so North had another easy tap in to give Frogmore a bit of a cushion at 4-1. Frogmore then started being in complete control of the game. Frogmore then made it 5-1 and North and Clements showed a sign of great things to come when they start clicking as North beat two players and saw Clements' run, played it back across goal for Clements to smash it home for 5-1 and the 3 points definitely in the bag. Blades did manage to restore some pride as a they produced a good counter attack and made sure that Egg was not going to save this shot and thumped it in on the half volley. However they seemd to forget that they had to defend as straight from kick off North played a long ball down the right hand side of the pitch to Cullington who's cross to Oli Pemberton was met with a fine right footed finish to make the final score 6-2 to the Lemons.
"I think we were brilliant tonight. In the first half we were the better side by a mile but were somehow behind. But we stuck to our game plan and continued to play the way we were playing because we were bound to score eventually and when we did it opened the door and we couldnt stop scoring. What has impressed me the most is that our last 2 games we have come from behind to win the game which shows great determination and focus and ability not to panick. Were playing Frimley Predators next week so I think it was important to win our first two. It is the first time we have won our first two games in the Premiership since we got promoted to this league so it shows we are still improving every season despite being in the toughest league. We have what it takes to finish in the top two I think, lets just hope we can continue to perform the way we are atm."
