About the Friends
The Friends of Tanyard Creek Park is a nonprofit group dedicated to serving as stewards and advocates of Tanyard Creek Park located in Atlanta, Georgia. The Friends work to enhance and protect the meadow area of the park in the spirit of preserving it in its natural and historical state. Their mission is to provide park users an environment that allows them to relax and enjoy the natural habitat of Tanyard Creek Park while escaping from the stresses of urban life.

For the past 10+ years the Friends have devoted untold hours to improving the landscape of the Park's meadow. They have organized clean up activities, addressed landscaping issues, and provided materials and volunteer labor to install betterments, such as creating an additional entrance into the park.

The Friends support a number of community park programs and projects in the surrounding neighborhoods that serve to enhance Tanyard Creek Park without altering its open greenspace. In 2005 they partnered with Park Pride and were instrumental in raising money to purchase park benches, creating much needed seating areas for park users.
Current projects include working with the NPU-C Parks and Trails Committee to identify ways to improve the meadow area without sacrificing the integrity and natural state of the park. This includes limiting enhancements to natural, recyclable, and environmentally friendly materials.
