"To stand in silence when we should be protesting makes cowards of us."
- Abraham Lincoln
I say to you, this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren’t fit to live.You may be 38 years old, as I happen to be, and one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls upon you to stand for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause. And you refuse to do it because you are afraid.
You refuse to do it because you want to live longer. You’re afraid that you will lose your job, or you are afraid that you will be criticized or that you will lose your popularity, or you’re afraid that somebody will stab or shoot or bomb your house. So you refuse to take a stand.
Well, you may go on and live until you are ninety, but you are just as dead at 38 as you would be at ninety.
And the cessation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit.
You died when you refused to stand up for right.
You died when you refused to stand up for truth.
You died when you refused to stand up for justice.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Enough of the "Polite Wars!" NOW is the time for DEMANDS!

"Whatever your fight, don't be ladylike."
- Mother Jones
We encourage all "Friends of Equines FOES of Equine Slaughter" to attend as many of these industry events as possible. If there is anything we can do to assist we will be happy to do what we can for you, including supplying you with brochures and/or aiding you in getting your permissions and/or permits in order. You can contact us by email at:
or call Chris in NY directly at (518) 753 - 7791
Thanks for Caring!
Together we can make a difference.
1. THE AMERICAN HORSE COUNCIL (AHC)
Well our first campaign was so successful that the plan now is this: If AHC is the voice of the Industry in Washington DC, then Friends of Equines is going to be the voice of the horse for the AHC. We shall HAUNT them and FOLLOW THEM and PROTEST the SLAUGHTER whereever they go, and our numbers will grow and grow this I know, as they are growing now.
The AHC meets twice a year in Dc at various locations thoroughout the city, and every time they meet, Friends of Equines will be there with our banners and our signs DEMANDING accountability from our Nations largest producers of so-called "unwanted" horses....
The next AHC meeting will be in the fall and we are already preparing for that show-down. Let them beware......we will haunt them and follow them until there is no more horses "unwanted" by the industry going to slaughter !!!
2. THE AMERICAN QUARTER-HORSE ASSOCIATION:
The plan here is to eventually have Friends of Equines present at EVERY AQHA Event protesting and educating the public, passing out flyers and brochures to let everyone know that over half of the horses going to slaughter today are REGISTERED American Quarter-Horses and that the AQHA is one of the LOUDEST VOICES in Washington Dc for keeping the equine slaughter going How do you think the AQHA will like that for PR?
Here is a link to the AQHA Website where you can see a listing of all their planned shows and activities for the summer of 2008;
http://www.aqhamembers.org/FS/showing/calendar/free/showcalev2.cfm?MONTH=July&YEAR=2008
We are hoping that some "Friends" of equines will show up at some of these events to tell the TRUTH about the AQHA. If you need any organizational help we would be glad to assit. Just ask. So many people, even horsemen, simply DONT KNOW whats going on with the AQHA and their pro-slaughter stance...most people are appalled when they learn and this is the only way we are going to change things is by educating more people and TAKING ACTION against it, and, one thing we have learned FOR SURE from our campaigns, is this: you DO NOT need a big crowd to effectivly demonstrate or protest: ONE WELL SPOKEN, EDUCATED PERSON is enough! Look on the internet for "One man" or "One Woman" protest to see it is not a new concept. YOU as an individual have the power to change the world! We as Friends of Equines, urge you ALL to get busy. Dont wait for others to support you, you can do it on your own. Just TELL THE TRUTH and people will embrace and thank you!
3. JOCKEY CLUB / SARATOGA NY ACTIONS:
The 2008 Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing will be held at the Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, Aug. 17. FireindsOfEquines will be there acting as the Voice of the Horse saying STOP KILLING US - STOP THE SLAUGHTER NOW
http://www.jockeyclub.com/ROUNDTABLE.ASP
In addition to the Jockey Club Action as outlined above, Friends of Equines FOES of Equine Slaughter will also be at the Saratoga Flat Track PROTESTING and passing out flyers at the gates, EVERY SUNDAY until the END OF MEET!
There were plans for demonstrations on July 23, opening day but were cancelled due to severe thunderstom warnings throughout the afternoon.

Equine lovers, protectors, rescuers and advocates,....empower yourselves and fight the good fight FOR THE HORSES with us against the TOP 10 Industrial Producers & slaughterers of all "unwanted" horses - join the Friends of Equines FOES of Equine Slaughter. We are IN EFFECT and WILL NOT relent until we have convinced the Top 10 Industrial Producers of all "unwanted" horses that it is incumbant upon them to set an example for the rest of the Nation in "taking care of their own." If everyone did this, there would BE NO "unwanted" horse problem. Every horse deserves to live. We must find a way to convince "the leaders" of the industry that slaughter or needless euthansia is never "OK," as it goes against "the sanctity of life."

Re: Friends of Equines “Summer at Saratoga / Industry Accountability Campaign” / Planned Demonstrations for Saratoga Flat Track
Dear Sir or Madam;
I am writing as founder of the above named organization and to let you know our plans to conduct some small, peaceful protest - demonstrations at the Saratoga Flat Track commencing on opening day, July 23, and on every Sunday thereafter until the close of the 2008 meet.
We have also been granted permission by the Saratoga Spa State Parks Department to protest the annual Jockey Club RoundTable Meeting at the Gideon Putnam Hotel on Aug. 17, 2008.
Our demonstrations have always been small, even sometimes with just one protester. However, we are hoping for a crowd of at least 25. In any event, the demos will be conducted quietly and within the law, with no planned civil disobedience involved.
Our last demo was conducted in Washington DC on June 17th, 2008, in front of the Regency Hotel. I am sure if you call DC Metro and ask for Mr. Zachary Scott, he will give a good reference for Friends of Equines.
Thank you.
