Lyrics

Boondocks: (chorus): i feel no shame/ i'm proud of where i came from/ i was born and raised in the boondocks/ one thing i know no matter where i go/i keep my heart and soul in the boondocks/ and i can feel that muddy water runnin through my veins/and i can hear that lullaby of the midnight train/and it sings to me and it sounds familiar/ chorus/ and i can taste that honeysuckle and it's still so sweet/when it grows wild on the banks down at old camp creek/and it calls to me like a warm wind blowin/ chorus/ it's where i learned about living/ it's where i learned about love/ it's where i learned about working hard and having a little was just enough/ it's where i learned about jesus and knowing where i stand/ you can take it or leave it/ this is me, this is who i am/ chorus/ give me a tin roof/ a front porch and a gravel road/ and that's home to me/ feels like home to me/ chorus/ you get a line/i get a pole/we'll go fishin in the crawfish hole/five card poker on a saturday night/church on sunday mornin...

Flower in the Rain: you are the one/there's no one else/who lifts me up/and gives me water from the well/but there's a hole/that seems to drain it all away/and once again i'm left in fear and doubt/when all my strength is crying out/ chorus: so here i am again/willing to be opened up and broken like a flower in the rain/tell me what have i to do to die and then be raised/to reach beyond the pain/like a flower in the rain/  the evil wind/it blows a storm/to rock my world/just when i think i'm safe and warm/i'm led astray far too easily/it's always hard for me to say i'm wrong/until i know i can't go on/ chorus/  Lord, you have searched me and know when i sleep and when i rise/ you're familiar with all my ways/ even the darkness will shine like the day when you look into my heart/ chorus/ like a flower in the rain.

Pour out the Rain: the moment was custom made to order/ i was riding with my daughter on my way back from Monroe/ and like children do/ she started playing twenty questions/ but i never would've guessed the one that touched me to my soul/ chorus: daddy when i get to heaven/ can i taste the milky way/ are we goin there to visit/ or are we goin there to stay/ am i gonna see my grandpa/ can i have a pair of wings/ and do you think that God could use another angel to help pour out the rain/  well i won't lie/ i pulled that car right over/ and i sat there on the shoulder tryin to dry my misty eyes/ and i whispered lord,/ i wanna thank you for my children/ cause your innocence that fills them often takes me by surprise/ chorus/ well, i though about it later on and a smile came to my face/ when i tucked her into bed i got down on my knees and prayed/ lord when i get to heaven/ can i taste the milky way/ i don't wanna go to visit/ cause i'm comin home to stay/ and i can't wait to see my family and meet Jesus face to face/ and do you think lord, you could use another angel to help pour out the rain

Rides Wild Horses:  it's just her and the band and the clean-up man/ she's countin up her tips/she did alright/ she says goodnight/ she drives home to her three room flat/ checks her machine and she feeds her cat/ she's almost asleep/ before she turns out the light/ chorus: in her dreams she rides wild horses, and they carry her away on the wind, and they never make a sound as they fly above the ground, tonight she rides wild horses again./ she's fallen in love a time or two, but somehow it always fell through/ but she's strong/ she carries on/ her life ain't always gonna be this way/ she knows she's gonna shine someday/ but for now/ she'll escape til the dawn/ chorus

Kerosene:  i'm waitin on the sun to set cause yesterday ain't over yet/ i started smoking cigarettes/ there's nothing else to do i guess/ dusty roads ain't made for walkin/ spinning tires ain't made for stoppin/ i'm giving up on love cause love's givin up on me/ i gave it everything i had and everything i got was bad/ life ain't hard but it's too long, livin like some country song/ trade the truth in for a lie, cheatin really ain't a crime/ i'm giving up on love cause love's givin up on me/ forget your hight society, i'm soakin it in kerosene/ light 'em up and watch them burn, teach them what they need to learn..ha/ dirty hands ain't made for shakin, ain't a rule that ain't worth breaking/ well, i'm givin up on love cause love's givin up on me/ now i don't hate the one who left, you can't hate someone who's dead/ he's out there holding onto someone, i'm holdin up my smoking gun/ i'll find somewhere to lay my blame the day she changes her last name/ well, i'm giving up on love cause love's givin up on me/ well, i'm givin up on love, hey love's givin up on me

Me and Charlie Talking:  Me and charlie used to go walking/ sitting in the woods behind my house/ when being lovers meant a stolen kiss/ and  holding hands with nobody else around/ charlie said he wanted to get married/ but we were only ten so we'd have to wait/ said we'd never let our love run dry/ like so many do these days/ chorus: so we treat our love as a firefly, like it only gets to shine for a little while, catch it in a mason jar with holes in the top, and run like hell to show it off, oh promises we made when we'd go walking, but that's just me and charlie talking/ Charlie always said he'd like to leave here/ so he turned eighteen and left our sleepy town/ letters came and went and i kept waiting/ for charlie to come back and bring the life he'd found/ it's funny how time and distance change you/ the road you take don't always lead you home/ you can start a love with good intentions/ and you'll look up and it's gone/ chorus/ now and then i sometimes think of charlie/ how we thourhg we knew it all back then/ now i'd give anything to feel love/ from a child's heart again.

Hillbilly Way:  Five a.m., rise and shine/ out on the job/ workin the line/ up in the country/ that's what we do/ it's a tradition i'm carrying through/ you might not like what you see/ that don't matter to me/ chorus:  i'm gonna do it the hillbilly way, it's where i was born, it's how i was raised, if you don't like what i'm doin, what can i say, hey, the only way i know how to do it is the hillbilly way./ i can plow a field/ hunt for my food/ light a fire/ pass around the home brew/ Saturday night/ i truck into town/ raise a little hell/ close this honky-tonk down/ you might not like what you see/ that don't matter to me/ chrorus/ when it ocmes to the women/ one thing i've learned/ i gotta be myself or else i craxh and burn/ there's a girl i'm seeng later today/ she seems to like it the hillbilly way/ you might not like what you see/ it really doesn't matter to me/ chorus.

Jericho:  Boot leather on a barroom floor/ fightin over a dance hall girl/ he pulled a knife/ i pulled a gun/ and i sent him home to glory/ the sheriff said son, butter go with me/ give me your gun and come peacfully/ i can drop you right here, or you can tell the court your story/ chorus:  hang me high, hang me low, they're gonna hang me in the morning, stay away from Jericho, all you rounders, i give you fair warning./  entered my plea/ called it self defense/ a sober judge sittin on the bench/ and i stared into 24 eyes of a hard-nosed Jericho jury/ they called it murder in the first degree/ the judge said, son, stand and look at me/ hang him - and may the Lord have mercy./ chorus/  Theirteen steps to the scaffold high/ the whole town's out just to watch me die/ and not one/ to shed a tear of mourning/ please would you honor my last request/ when they lay me down to rest/ let the epitaph on my tombstone read this warning/ chorus

Ms. Innocence:  She 's the kind of girl who takes a chance/ she's living for a Harlequin Romance/ She believes in every lie she's told/ Pour her a line and she'll drink it in/  chorus:  whatcha gonna do when it all falls down? Mr. Anybody won't be around When it comes crashing to the ground, Ms. Innocence, what have you lost or found?/ She falls in love with every guy she meets/ her affection's won so easily/ 'Cause he's so charming, so disarming/ He fills her head with romantic dreams/ chorus/ Infatuation, fascination/ there's so much she stands to lose/ chorus.

Face: They say i'm the life of the party/ i've got all the lines/ i can make them laugh till they cry/ i'm like a jester in a court/ a funny man of sorts/ i put on a good show/ yea, yea, yea, yea/ do you really have the time to get to know me now/ or should i put my/ chorus:  face on, i put my best foot forward, my face on, i'll tell you all the things you want to hear/ Hey-i can do impressions/ i'm the master of deception/ cause they don't really know me/ the exchange rate of the day/ on a laugh won't really pay/ at least not like it used to/ yea, yea, yea, yea/ do you really have the time to get to know me now/ or should i put my/ chorus

Place I call Home:  i hear the wind across the planes/ a sound so strong that calls my name/ it's wild like the river/ it's warm like the sun/ yeah, it's here/ this is where i belong/ under the starry skies where eagles have flown/ this place it paradise/ it's the place i call home/ the moon on the mountain/ the whisper through the trees/ the waves on the water/ let nothing come between this and me/ cause everything i want/ is every thing that's here/ and when we're all together/ there's nothing to fear/ and whenever i wonder/ the one thing i've learned/ it's to here/ i will always, always return.

Don't Judge a thing:   gotta fight another fight/ gotta run another night/ gettin out/ checkin out/ i'm on my way and it don't feel right/ i gotta get me back/ i can't be beat and that's a fact/ it's ok/ i'll find a way/ ain't gonna take me down, no way/ chorus:  don't judge a thing til you know what's inside it, don't push me, i'll fight it. never gonna give in, never gonna give it up no. if you can't catch a wave, then you're never gonna ride it. you can't go on, just fight it. never gonna give in, never gonna give it up no, you can't take me i'm free/ why did it all go wrong?/ i wanna know what's goin on/ what's this holdin me?/ i'm not where i'm supposed to be/ i gotta fight another fight/ i gotta fight with all my might/ i'm gettin out, so check it out/ you're in my way, yeah you better watch out/ chorus.

Here I am:  here i am/ this is me/ i come into this world so wild and free/ here i am/ so young and strong/ right here in the place where i belong/ chorus:  it's a new world, it's a new start, it's a life with the beating of a young heart. it's a new day, it's a new land, and it's waiting for me, here i am./

Get off of my Back:  well you think that you can take me on?/ you must be crazy/ there ain't a single thing you've done that's gonna phase me/ yeah, well if you wanna have a go/ i just wanna let you know/ chorus:  get off of my back and into my game, get out of my way and out of my brain. Get out of my face or give it your best shot. i think it's time you'd better face the fact: get off of my back./ you know it's all just a game that i'm playin/ don't think that you can find a way in/ that's what i'm sayin/ oh but if you wanna have a go/ i just wanna let you know/ chorus

Under the Sun:  i had a dream of the wide open prairie/ i had a dream of pale mornin skies/ i had a dream that we flew on golden wings/ we were the same/ just the same/ you and i/ follow your heart/ little child of the west wind/ follow the voice/ that's callin you home/ follow your dreams/ but always remember me/ i am your brother/ under the sun/ chorus: we are like birds of a feather, we are two hearts joined together, we will be forever as one, my brother, under the sun./ ever you hear/ the wind in the canyon/ ever you see/ the buffalo run/ wherever you go/ i'll be there beside you/ cause you are my brother/ yea/ under the sun./ chorus

Sound the Bugle: sound the bugle now/ play it just for me/ as the seasons change/ remember how i used to be/ now i can't go on/ i can't even start/ i've got nothin left/ just an empty/ i'm a soldier/ wounded so i must give up the fight/ there's nothing more for me/ lead me away/ or leave me lying here/ sound the bugle now/ tell em i don't care/ there's not a road i know that leads to anywhere/ without a light i fear that i will stumble in the dark/ lay right down decide/ not to go on/ then from on high/ somewhere in the distance/ there's a voice that calls/ remember who you are/ if you lose yourself/ your courage soon will follow/ so be strong tonight/ remember who you are/ yea, you're a soldier now/ fighting in a battle/ to be free once more/ yea, that's worth fighting for

Angel:    Spend all your time waiting/ for that second chance/ for a break that would make it ok/ there's always some reason/ to feel not good enough/ and it's hard at the end of the day/ i need some distraction/ oh beautiful release/ memories seep from my veins/ let me be empty/ oh and weightless and maybe/ i'll find some peace tonight/ chorus: in the arms of the angel fly away from here, from this dark, cold hotel room to the endlessness that you fear. you are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie, you're in the arms of the angel, may you find some comfort here./ it don't make no difference/ escaping one last time/ it's easier to believe/ in this sweet madness/ oh this glorious sadness/ that brings me to my knees/ chorus.

Let Me Rest in Peace:     i died so many years ago/ you can make me feel like it isn't so/ and why you've come to be with me/ i think i finally know/ mmm/ you're scared/ ashamed of what you feel/ and you can't tell the ones you love/ know they couldn't deal/ whisper in a dead man's ear/ it doesn't make it real/ that's great/ but i don't wanna play/ being with you touches me more  than i can say/ but since i'm only dead to you/ i'm sayin stay away/ and let me rest in peace/ chorus:  let me rest in peace, let me get some sleep, let me take my love and bury it in a hole six foot deep, i can lay my body down, but i can't find my sweet release, so let me rest in peace/  i know i should go/ but i follow you like a man possessed/ there's a traitor here beneath my breast/ and it hurts me more than you've ever guessed/ if my heart could beat/ it would break my chest/ but i can see you're unimpressed/ so leave me be/ chorus/ why won't you let me rest in peace?

True:   i won't talk/ i won't breathe/ i won't move til you fin'ly see that you belong with me/ you might think/ i don't look/ but deep inside the corner of my mind/ i'm attached to you/ i'm weak/ it's true/ i'm just scared to know the answer/ do you want me too?/ cause my heart keeps falling faster/ chorus:  i've waited all my life to cross this line to the only thing that's true, so i will not hide, it's time to try anything to be with you, all my life i've waited, this is true/   you don't know/ what you do/ every time you walk into the room/ i'm afraid to move/ i'm weak/ it's true/ cause i'm afraid to know the ending/ do you see me too?/ do you even know you met me?/ chorus.

Storm in the Heavens:   there's a storm in the heavens/ the wind of the Spirit is starting to blow/ there's a storm in the heavens/ the flood of His glory is starting to flow/ : the rain of His presence is falling like never before, the cry of His people is a shout of praise, it's a sound of war! / repeat

Jesus Take the Wheel:   she was driving last friday on her way to cincinnati on a snow white christmas eve/ going home to see her mama and her daddy with the baby in the backseat/ fifty miles to go and she was runnin low on faith and gasoline/ it been a long hard year/ she had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention she was going way too fast/ before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass/ she saw both their lives flash before her eyes/ she didn't even have time to cry/ she was sooo scared/ she threw her hands up in the air/ chorus: jesus take the wheel, take it from my hands, cause i can't do this on my own, i'm letting go, so give me one more chance, save me from this road i'm on; jesus take the wheel.  / it was still getting colder as she made it to the shoulder and the car came to a stop/ she cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock/ and for the first time in a long time/ she bowed her head to pray/ she said i'm sorry for the way/ i've been livin my life/ i know i got to change/ so from now on tonight/ chorus:

Gone:  she told him she'd rather fix her makeup/ than rather fix what's goin on/ but the problem keeps on callin even with the cell phone gone/ she told him that she believes in livin/ bigger than she's livin now/ but her world keeps spinning backwards/ and upsidedown/ don't say so long/ and throw yourself wrong/ this could be your big chance to make up/ cause today will soon be gone/ like yesterday is gone/ like history is gone/ just try to prove me wrong/ and pretend like you're immortal/ she said he said live like now tomorrow/ every day we borrow/ brings us one step closer to the edge/ where's your treasure/ where's your hope/ if you get the world and lose you soul/ she pretends like she pretends like she's immortal/ don't say so long/ you're not that far gone/ this could be your big chance to makeup/ today will soon be/ gone, like yesterday is gone/ like history is gone/ the world keeps spinnin on/ you're going, going, gone/ like summer break is gone/ like saturday is gone/ just try to prove me wrong/ you pretend like you're immortal/ we are not infinite/ we are not permanent/ nothing is immediate/ we're so confident/ in our accomplishments/ look at our decadence/ gone, like frank sinatra/ like elvis and his mom/ like al pacino's cash, nothing lasts in this life/ my highschool dreams are gone/ my childhood sweets are gone/ life is a day that doesn't last for long/ life is more than money/ time was never money/ time was never cash/ life is still more than girls/ life is more than hundred dollar bills/ and roto-tom fills/ life's more than fame and rock and roll and thrills/ all the riches of the kings end up in wills/ we got information in the information age/ but do we know what life is/ outside of our convenient lexus cages/ she said he said live like no tomorrow/ every moment that we borrow/ brings us closer to the God who's not short of cash/ hey bono, i'm glad you asked/ life is still worth living/ life is still worth living.

Mercy Came Runnin':  once there was a holy place/ evidence of god's embrace/ and i can still see mercy's face/ pressed against the veil/ looking down with longing eyes/ mercy must have realized/ that once his blood was sacrificed/ freedom would prevail/ and as the sky grew dark/ and the earth began to shake/ with justice no longer in the way/ chorus: mercy came a runnin' like a prisoner set free past all my failures to the point of my need, when the sin that i carried was all i could see, and when i could not reach mercy, mercy came a runnin' to me/ once there was a broken heart/ way too human from the start/ the years had let it torn apart/ hopeless and afriad/ walls i never meant to build/ left this prisoner unfulfilled/ freedom called but even still/ it seemed so far away/ i was bound by the chains/ by the wages of my sin/ and just when i felt like giving in/ chorus/ sometimes i still feel so far/ from where i should be/ he gently calls to my heart/ just to remind me/chorus/ to me...
