FreeFall
are a young and energetic funk band based in Aberystwyth, currently gigging in
and around Ceredigion. The band have been together in their current form for
around three years, playing at many prestigious venues such as the Square
Festival, St David's Hall Cardiff, The National Music for Youth, The Dead
Elephant Club and the Pink Snowball Awards along the way.
The
band comprises of; Richard Davies (drums), Tom Barry (guitar), Sam Dunning
(bass), Russell Evans (trombone), Hugh Parry (trumpet) and Fred Harper
(percussion) - who will sadly be leaving us this summer to go on to bigger and better
things!
FreeFall
have a strict no covers policy, which at this moment in time has only been broken
by the occasional razzing out of Van Morison's Moondance. Last year the band
won the Lloyds TSB In Tune with Wales Ensemble Competition at the St David's
Hall in Cardiff,
winning the honour of returning to play at the Welsh Proms. Later that month
they went on to win a Composition Award at the National Music for Youth in Birmingham.
In
2006, FreeFall released Armada - a six track demo, which sold very successfully
locally. In 2007, the band revisited the studio to update with a new demo
album which is available at gigs and online. Currently gigging as much as
possible, FreeFall are piecing together another set list from which could arise
a first professional album.
FreeFall
owe their success to a long list of people. But particularly notable is the
endless support and encouragement of Penglais
School's music department
and local event organizers; who have given us many excellent opportunities to
be heard.
FreeFall
extend their gratitude to all fans and supporters, we love people enjoying our
music and hope you keep on doing so!
