Kane Hodder On Why Is Is Not In Freddy Vs Jason

Thanks To Arrow In The Head

ARROW: On a more serious note; Freddy vs Jason...

KANE: Yeah...

ARROW: A lot of us are pretty pissed off about what happened...

KANE: Along with me, I'm sure you can imagine.

ARROW: Yeah. There's been a lot of rumors and a lot of stories...

KANE: Tell me the rumors you've heard and I'll tell you if they're true.

ARROW: Well, at first I heard that they wanted somebody with more expressive eyes.

KANE: Yeah, that's the sort of bullshit they told me too and they wound up hiring a Canadian stunt man.

ARROW: I heard it had to do with the Canadian Tax Credits.

KANE: Sure it does. You hire a local, you don't have to pay air fare, hotel, per diem... People have always told me; one thing they loved about watching me play the character were my eyes!!!! That seemed like a pretty lame excuse to me.

ARROW: Yeah, it's very ***** lame. After all you've done for the role, you took it to the next level.

KANE: I put my life into that part John! Nobody else has dedicated themselves to Jason as much as I have! What other rumors have you heard?

ARROW: I also heard that you were initially "too short" for the part, but then I heard that you were "too tall" for it as well. You're 6'3" if I remember correctly and Ken [Kirzinger-- the guy who got the part of Jason eventually] is like 6'4" or something.

KANE: More like 6'3" and half. They just never did give me a valid reason as to why they replaced me...they never did. They said "we think we're going to go in another direction". I asked why but they've never given me, or the fans who are upset about it, an adequate answer and I find that very insulting to both of us if you think about it.

ARROW: Sure is.

KANE: That's very pompous, if you ask me. It had nothing to do with me not wanting to play the part, that's for sure! I actually heard a rumor that it was a money dispute, it never even got to that point!

Katherine Isabelle On Freddy Vs Jason

Thanks To Bloody-Disgusting and TVGuide

I hate to say it, but I was really expecting a little bit more," admits nubile victim Katharine Isabelle, a veteran of the Snoop Dogg thriller Bones and the Stepford Children rip-off Disturbing Behavior. "It's just the same-old, same-old. There's nothing to it — it's all about running around and screaming, 'No, Freddy, don't!'

"I can't say too much about it," she adds with a laugh, "because I get really angry."

"Even more disappointing, the 21-year-old Canadian actress, the daughter of X-Files production designer Graeme Murray, is no more satisfied with her on-screen demise than she is with the picture's plot, which finds bogeyman Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) playing mind games with unhappy camper Jason Voorhees (Ken Kerzinger). "My death scene is kind of gross," she sighs. "I guess that's what happens in a Freddy vs. Jason movie."

Ronny Yu On Freddy Vs Jason *SPOILERS*

Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting

Q. What do you hope to bring to Freddy vs Jason?

A. ... I think New Line was looking for someone completely different. When I told them I hadn't seen the other films they said, "Great, that's perfect. We want a director who's never seen an Elm Street or Friday film."

Q.How would you describe the relationship between Freddy and Jason in the movie?

A. ...Freddy's scared of fire and Jason's scared of water, which is as elemental as it gets. There's also a great theme of revenge and not messing with someone's mother, because Jason goes crazy when Freddy messes with his mother. ...
They each have strengths and weaknesses and advatages over each other.

Q. The story begins at Camp Crystal Lake and moves to Springwood.. and back to the lake for the finale...

A. Yes, basically.

Q. Does Freddy have a new look?

A. Yes, Freddy has a new demon face, so to speak, which i don't want to talk about. Robert and I filmed that scene up at a water tank ... basically Freddy's head explodes and you see past faces of his victims...

Q. Can we assume since Jason is emotionless, that Freddy dominates the dramitic parts...

A. You could say that. Freddy's a lot more sick in this film and really torments Jason, so much so that i hope people feel sorry for Jason. i think of the film more about Freddy than jason.

Q. How is F vs J Hitchcockian?

A. We filmed a rave scene ... Jason jumps out and starts killing ALL OF THEM. he's killing cuz his mother told him to. he thinks he'll bring her back to life by killing enough victims. But,of course, it's Freddy all along. The more teens die, the more powerful Freddy becomes. ..... We also have a great TRIPLE ENDING in the film which i think people will be talking about a lot.

Q. Do you definately expect a sequel?

A. Oh yeah. See, I think of this as the first film in a series, not the 20th. We're kind of forgetting everything that's happened before and starting from scratch while at the same time showing flash backs... like a refresher. everyone knows who Freddy and Jason are so WE WANNA MAKE A FILM FOR THE MASSES, NOT REALLY THE HARDCORE FANS WHO MIGHT REMEMBER SOME DETAIL FROM A SEQUEL 10 YEARS AGO. There's no mention of Jason X, that's for sure.

Freddy Talks Freddy Vs Jason

Thanks To Bloody-Disgusting.

"- Englund's description of the film's style? "It's like some gorgeous, twisted, violent Dutch comic book you know-- Asian, Cyber Japanese Cyber Punk, illustrated comic book with Scorsese camera angles, Orson Wells camera angles and film noir style...it's REALLY interesting! There's also lots of different colors plays, kind of like Paul Schrader's style. It's just really a great classy, violent popcorn movie. I've been calling it a gourmet popcorn that's spelled...G-O-R-E."

"- Englund also dropped a hint about "Freddy meeting baby Jason" in the film, and when prodded about how many "old school" fans are afraid that the new film is basically gonna sell out to the new generation, Englund replied: "Freddy is less funny (here)...and there's more violence and more twisted shit in this film than in the last 4 Freddy movies."

"- We also get lots more background on the film's development, how Guillermo del Toro was once involved and Englund's take on why Kane Hodder might've gotten the boot as Jason in this go-around."

"- He also offered more details on the plotline including the drug Hypnocil, a wicked rave party set in a cornfield ("..little rave nerd boys with day glow clothes being piped and speared by Jason and flung across rows and rows of corn glowing like meteors or comets through the night.") and how Jason becomes Freddy's "Frankenstein monster".

Ronny Yu Speaks On Freddy Vs Jason

Thanks To Bloody disgusting

Last night was the first time I worked with Robert Englund. After we wrapped, he said, 'Ronny, the way you make movies is different.' How do you mean different? 'Different from American or European directors. You don't go the normal way like doing a master, then coverage and da da da da da. You just say what you need and what reaction you need, act scared and jump up.' I said, 'What's so different?'"

"Yu confirmed he is shooting multiple endings, and the Kane Hodder would not return as Jason. "New Line wanted a fresh look to Jason, so we hired this guy from Vancouver who actually doubled for Kane. Freddie's the same."

"And FvJ will not be straight scares. It wouldn't be Yu if it didn't have some laughs. "I like to have a little bit of humor in all my movies. It doesn't matter what genre. I need the audience when they're sitting there to feel it's a fun thing. So that's why I insist in Bride Of Chucky that they have a lot of fun, like humor, even though it's a nasty humor. Still, you laugh and say, 'Ooh, that's nasty.' But still you laugh."

Lauren Lee Smith About Her Role In Freddy Vs Jason

Thanks To Bloody Disgusting

"Smith, who has also appeared on DARK ANGEL, told SciFi that she gets killed by "maybe both" Freddy AND Jason in the movie. Her character, which she describes as a "party girl, really crazy and out there" certainly sounds like first act machete or razor-finger fodder for either of the boogeymen."

Fango can tell you that the "maybe both" comment isn't too far off the mark and that Gibb is best friends with the main character, Lori, who lives on Elm Street in the movie.

Another Englund Interview

*COMING SOON*

We are waiting for the convention in illinois to kick off and when it does we we'll have it here.
