Welcome.

Welcome to Glasgow Diamonds! We are Airdrie fans who live in Glasgow but go to all the games and we hope you like our website and enjoy some of the stuff on it! Hopefully we'll be able to update the website as often as possible and add all our pictures from our travels in the first division for safety reasons we will avoid taking valubles to Partick Thistle as we all no it is not safe! Enjoy the site!

Onwards and Upwards!

Our Hit Counter

Season 2004/05

Thats it done for another year now! the season has ended and Airdrie finished 3 places higher up than expected! In my view it has been a superb year for being a Diamond fan. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better Thistle are relegated again!!

This season finished the way it started with a one nil win for the Diamonds. In my view there have been highs and lows of the season. The lows being the 5-0 defeat to champions Falkirk, The away defeat to Falkirk when we got beat 1-0 and the away defeat to St Mirren when we got beat 1-0

Obviously this season has gave Diamonds fans so many big grins on there face that I for one could not explain in words. But to name a few the 3-2 victory against St Mirren when Dallas tried to cheat us when Saints clearly handled the ball. Game got played on and St Mirren went 2-1 up! Late Martin Hardie and Owen Coyle goals handed the Diamonds the points!

Latest News.

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- RAITH ROVERS F.C                          (Preview) (Away)

Finally. We're done. Mission accomplished we have stayed up. One more game left against Raith Rovers away. Raith who are already relegated have started to pick up points very late so lets hope they dont steal any from the Diamonds on the last day as we try to finish 4th in the league!

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- PARTICK THISTLE F.C                     (Preview) (Home)

Sorry this hasn't been updated in a while but as the season nears the end the site has sort of dwindled away so hopefully it will be back on track pre season! Tomorrow is the only decent game left even though there is nothing to play for apart from pride. Both teams won last week with thistle also being relegated and Airdrie scoring last minute to bag all three points in Perth! As usual this will be a good derby day with a good atmosphere. Escalus is out for the jags tomorrow. Stephen Docherty is suspended and Kevin Christie is still out injured and Stephen McKeown, Mark Roberts and Neil will all face last minute tests for the Diamonds. So as we play our Glasgow Rivals for the last time for what will be at least a year as "they will be on loan to division two for a season"   we will give them a good send off! Plenty of noise tomorrow as we sing Moan The Airdrie!!

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- FALKIRK F.C                                      (Preview) (Home)

What have we got to loose? We go into our hardest game of the season as under dogs.
Kevin Christie and Martin Hardie look set to return as Airdrie come off the back of a one nil victory against local rivals Hamilton Accies.

Match Report will be displayed on the reports page after the game.

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- QUEEN OF THE SOUTH  F.C             (Preview) (Away)

The four of us will be making the journey down to Dumfries this weekend on the train and no doubt we will have a right good laugh and get plenty of snaps of our journey at the borders. The Diamonds haven't been in action for two weeks now so will be rearing to go as we have already beaten Queens at our park we go and try and do it at Palmerston QOS came off the back of a home defeat on Wednesday night against Clyde and hopefully they'll get beat again on Saturday! Pictures wont be added to the site until a couple of days after the game.

Third time lucky?

Airdrie will make a third attempt at trying to play this game against Hamilton at New Broomfield the game takes places on Tuesday 8th March with a 7:45p.m. kick off

AIRDRIE UNITED V HAMILTON

Game postponed due to Frozen/Waterlogged pitch.

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- RAITH ROVERS F.C              (Preview) (Home)

Tomorrow Airdrie take on more or less relegated Raith Rovers at New Broomfield. Rovers come with a youth squad and have nothing to loose where as Airdrie are six points off relegation and only one off third so it just goes to show how tight the first division is. Stephen Docherty and Willie McLaren will hopefully make come backs for this game as the appeared as subs on Saturdays away trip to Firhill.

AIRDRIE UNITED V HAMILTON

Game postponed due to a frozen goal at the North Stand.

UPDATE

The site will not be updated until after the Boxing day game against Falkirk.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- ST. JOHNSTONE F.C              (Preview) (Home)

Airdrie take on St Johnstone this Saturday at New Broomfield for the second time this season. St. Johnstone have not yet beaten the Diamonds as first result of the season saw Airdrie take all three points when Jerome Varielle scored to give Airdrie all three points! Then we travelled to McDiarmaid Park a while ago. Dominated the game and St Johnstone went ahead from a Kevin Christie own goal but super striker Owen Coyle scored to give Airdrie a share of the spoils. This time we take them back home to the Excelsior and a good run favours us to take the three points. Injuries are Lee Hollis and Alan Gow, both will recieve last minute fitness checks. Stephen McKeown is said to have recovered from the flu. Saints boss, John Connelly has a few injuries but Kevin Rucktiwitz is back from suspension. If we can make a bit of noise and get behind the Diamonds tomorrow we'll sail through this game!!

SANDY SCOOPS AWARD

Airdrie United gaffer Sandy Stewart has scooped Bells Division Manager of the month of November title after win four games on a trot its is ver much deserved. Congratulations to Sandy from everyone on the site!

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C ---v--- ST. MIRREN F.C                        (Preview) (Home)

After three wins in a row and two weeks on the road its time for the Diamonds to come back home and try an move up another place in the table. Airdrie have a full squad and with reserve goalie Lee Hollis playing in great form he will probably retain his place between the sticks. Airdrie have already played St. Mirren this season at Love street and we were the team to end there 100% home record as Mark Roberts came on as substitute and scored a diving header in the last minute to salvage the Diamonds a point! Airdrie look to build on that superb result at Love Street. We are probably the best team on form at the moment in the Bells First Division and after hearing from one St. Mirren fan he said; "There are only two teams we fear in the First Division and they are Falkirk and Airdrie United". I feel that Airdrie have the upper hand today and after the ever growing confidence we have  been getting since we leapfrogged the table 3 weeks ago, I dont see why we cant beat St. Mirren!

HAMILTON ACCIES ---v--- AIRDRIE UNITED F.C                 (Preview) (Away)

There you have it the diamonds got there first back to back win of the season and now its down to bussiness as we take our second away trip in two weeks to our lanarkshire rivals, Hamilton Accies. Hamilton have already beaten us this season at the Excelsior. Bearing in mind they done this when we didn't have our full strength team out and now with us having Gow, McLaren and Hardie all match fit we are hoping to get a few points! We have unfinished business at Hamilton and this saturday is the day we are going to do it. After a great atmosphere in Dingwall we are hoping the supporters will be in good form as we make this trip to one of the most dangerous and poor areas of Scotland. Hamilton.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROSS COUNTY F.C ---v--- AIRDRIE UNITED F.C                  (Preview) (Away)

Theres nothing better than an 8 hour round trip to Dingwall with you having to catch your train at 7.45 in the morning through to Airdrie! AISA bus leaves at 9 am and as we set off for the freezing snowy highlands of Scotland a league referee will be giving the County Stadium, Victoria Park a pitch inspection as we set off to Dingwall this game is possibly on a shakey leg as various reports are saying tempretures below freezing and two inches of snow lying so a referee will be up there giving it an inspection no major injury threats as Airdrie try what has been mission impossible this season and that is to get two back to bak wins! Only problem for the team is news of Thomas Hoey suffering chest pains during training. We hope to be sticking with the same team that gubbed the Bully Wee at the weekend. Dont yet know how many diamonds fans will be making the trip north but expect around 400, respect to a few of the guys on the stomp who are leaving really early in the morning for thier booze cruz in Dingwall and Inverness. Enjoy it! Once again plenty of support for the players and lets try and get a back to back win and sing on the terraces of Victoria Park as were only going to have the chance to enjoy an old looking football ground twice this season becuase hopefully we'll be in the first division for many years to come!

AIRDRIE PLAYER CHEST PAINS AT TRAINING

One of our YTS stars, Thomas Hoey was today taken into hospital after suffering chest pains at our training ground. Hoey was taken to hospital and was leter let go and he is said to be being looked after Club Doctor Brian Dunn. We hope that Thomas has a speedy recovery and back avaialble for selction if needed.

ST. JOHNSTONE F.C --- v --- AIRDRIE UNITED F.C                   (Preview) (Away)

After a mouth-watering game last week against Thistle, Airdrie are hoping to follow up on a result at McDiarmaid park against St. Johnstone. Airdrie have already beaten the Saints this season in the first game when we beat the at our own ground one-nil. An Alan Gow cross was met with Jerome Vareilles addidas boot to give Airdrie a good win to start off there season. Start of the season saw St. Johnstone as league favourites after a string of bad results they have found a half decent form and look to build on it. Airdrie have no injuries and go into this game knowing that they can beat St. Johnstone and they done it at the start of the season without Hardie and McLaren so who knows what will happen on Saturday. A tasty game in store for the two clubs in what is only there second ever meeting.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

AIRDRIE UNITED F.C  --- v ---   PARTICK THISTLE F.C            (Preview) (Home)

Airdrie go into this game trying to finish unsettled business from our unlucky defeat at Firhill at the start of the season. Airdrie are without Alan McManus for this game as the Evening Times reports McManus has a knee strain. It is also roumered the Sandy Stewart is thinking about giving Alan Gow a jeresey as he had a half decent spell in out midweek reserves clash at Ochilview. Dont really have much news for Thistle but It has been said they could have a full squad. Airdrie have the home advantage, But not having the best attendances lately we are hoping that a few more people turn out to see what always prooves to be a very intresting and spicey meeting with the two division one rivals.

The site hasn't been updated in ages so we are currently trying to update it.
