Tip # 1
While running in the game for your first time, do not think how low your rank will be in the end and do not think how low your friends think of you. You only have to think 'I have to get the story' which is kind-a-lame-o. Do not make a run through and read all notes you get.

Tip # 2
Never be lazy (like me) and skip ghost battles. In the end of almost EVERY battle, you'll find a diary, equipment, or a special photograph. Develop all of the photographs in time and after every chapter, develop them.

Tip # 3
Get all of the notes in your first play through as much as possible. All of the 'must-get' notes are mostly vague therefore you need more information. In chapter 3 or 5, try to take folklorist's notes 1 and 2 from the book case behind the projector room. In chapter 6, follow Yoshino's voice which will led you to the blind room. Take a picture of her there. Now in chapter 9 go to that same room and take another picture of her. Go to the entrance hall now and fight a new ghost. She will leave you a key. Take the key, open the door to the right of the entrance and go ahead to get 'measure' function and a little information as well. In chapter 12, go to the 3 stairway hallway, and move the cupboard from the door. It will lead you to a secret room where you'll find type 0 film and a diary. After you've gotten the diary, go through the trap door downstairs and skip the fight if you want. Go to the kimono room and get yet another diary. In chapter 12 with Kei again, Follow the voices, go through the blind room right below the library and on the side of the tattoo altar. You will find another diary there. Now you'll probably hear some more voices. Follow them and get another diary. Be sure to have a purifying candle or you'll be in bad trouble. In chapter 13, go to the little room with the broken doors. The only way to get there is to go through the 3 stair hallway, upstairs, into a door, and walk from the roof to get there. After getting there, the floor board in the left most corner will be loose. Open it to enter the room and find out a lot about the game. These are all of them I think. Re-read the notes at least TWICE and also look at the pictures given with the notes. Almost every note contains a picture which will only be viewable if you open it from the menu.

Tip # 4
Catch at least 100 spirits or 150 spirits and read their spirit list description for information. The spirit list describes a lot of the information, read it again and again.

Tip # 5
Think rational and think and dig up even extremely tiny facts like how all of the handmaidens died. How the family master died. How the people in white died and when. Make a list of question for a better and symmetric play through.

Tip # 6
Also watch all of the film reels and look at their names for explanations. The film reels explain a lot as well.

Tip # 7
Still you will not get the story in your first play through because you will be missing one note that you will find in the Kimono room in chapter 12 in your second play through only.

Take the key, open the door to the right of the entrance and go ahead to get 'measure' function and a little information as well.
