"music is moonlight in the gloomy night of life"

Innocent, you looked, the first time I saw you.
With body of glass and a liquid soul
You stood on a table, waiting, waiting
To take your next victim for a ride.
Comforting, you felt, the first time I touched you.
Letting my lips discover your secrets
I drank you in, till the very last drop
Till your glass shell of green was all that was left.
Invincible, I felt, when under your influence.
Without you inside me I could not breathe
Succumbed to withdrawal, all I could think of
Was when I would next ride your wave.
Out past the breakers, out past sobriety
I sipped from your cup like a drunken child
My beautiful Ethanol, drowner of pain
My glass-bodied saviour, I craved like no other.
Seduced me, you did, with your chemical beauty.
Broke down my barriers, left me to sink
To a wallowing wreck in a sea of addiction.
My beautiful Ethanol, what had you done?
I had to be freed from your clutches.
My fingers took hold and smashed your glass body.
It tore my heart to see your blood spill
But it was either you or me that had to die.
And still you look innocent, upon a glass table
With secrets concealed, hiding under the cap
You'll have your next victim, but it won't be me
I know you too well, my enemy Ethanol.
