On Monday - December 14, 2009 at 19:00Hrs at Station 43. A Three hour seminar on RESPONSE TO CO INCIDENTS. was presented by Chief Robert Ward, West Hazleton FD. A number of fire fighters and fire officials from District 43, Shenandoah, Brandonville and Mahanoy City attended the seminar.

At 07:49 hours Engine 43-10 responded to Dead Man's Curve, Route 61 Saint Clair Grade, Blythe Township for an vehicle accident. The crew found one vehicle on the roadway which hit the guide rails. Patient was out of the vehicle and refused EMS. Engine 43-10 remained on the scene and assist PSP with traffic control.

District 43 was dispatched to the Schulykill Mall for a vehicle fire with Altamont, Englewood, and New Castle Twp. Engine 43-15 arrived with a crew with 3 and advanced one hose line. Engine 367 arrived and advanced a second hose line. Engine 368 and Engine 369 arrived and assisted with over haul. Vehicle was total loss.

Ladder 43-20 and Engine 43-15 responded to 514 W Spring St. at 05:45 hours for smoke in the structure. Engine 369 and Ladder 43-20 found a small fire in the floor of the residence caused by a coal stove. Crew extinguished the fire, air monitored, and vented the home. Crews then went available.
Ladder 43-20 and Engine 43-15 responded to 616 E Pine St. in Mahanoy City for a row home fire. District 43 crews assisted District 48 with overhaul in the fire buildings.

At 02:00 hours District 43 responded with 369, 367, 17, and 704 to McDonalds at the Schuylkill Mall for a working vehicle fire. Engine 43-10 and 43-15 was first on scene and extinguished the fire.

At 15:30 hour District 43 and mutual aid 1st Alarm units were dispatched 10 S 2nd St. for a house. EMA 43 and Frackville Police was already on scene prior to dispatched investigating smoke from a chimney (site of the early incident). The incident was held to Ladder 43-20 and Engine 43-10. The house was investigated and found a problem with furnace. Air monitoring was conducted and arge amount CO was found in the home. The home was vented and all units cleared.

Engine 43-10 responded at 10:15 hours to exit 124 to assist Engine 367 and Engine 368 with traffic control. A multiple vehicle accident involving tractor trailers blocked the Saint Clair exit.

At 08:30 hours responded to a vehicle accident at mile marker 113 Interstate 81 for a vehicle accident with no injuries. Engine 43-10 found a small car that slide off the icy roadway in a ditch.
At 10:10 hours District 43 responded to a fire reported out at 10 South Mahanoy Street. District 43 units investigated the incident and found a self cleaning oven in cleaning mode. All units cleared shortly.

At 04:50 hours Engine 43-10 and Engine 369 responded to a vehicle accident involving a mini van and tractor trailer on Interste 81 at mile marker 117 north bound in Butler Township. Engine 43-10 arrived first and found the mini van on fire. One hose line was advanced from Engine 43-10 and the fire was knocked down. Engine 369 advanced a second hose line and over hauled the vehicle. Minersille EMS transported the driver to a local hospital. The engines remained on the scene for over an hour until the vehicles were removed.

At 11:15 hours Chief 43 and Engine 43-15 responded to the Schuylkill Mall to set up a landing zone for MedEVac 7. Chief 43 was landing zone officer and Driver Barrett assisted the EMS crew.

At 12:00 hours Engine 43-15 responded and stood by at the American Hose Fire Company in Ashland. Ashland fire fighters and other county departments were operating at a multiple building fire in Ashland. The engine returned back to station before 15:00 hours.

At 07:00 hours Fire District 43, Englewood, and Frackville EMS responded to mm 120 Interstate 81 in Butler Township for an accident. Units found one van on its side with one injury. Engine 43-10 assisted EMS and investigated the vehicle for hazards.

At 14:40 hours Fire District 43 responded to a apartment building fire at 65 N Lehigh Avenue in Frackville.

At 10:54 hour Fire District 43, Englewood Fire Company and Frackville Ambulance were dispatched to mile marker 119 south bound Interstate 81 in Butler Township for an accident with unknown injuries. Ambulance 43-01 arrived and found a minor two vehicle accident with no injuries. Engine 43-10 cancelled on the scene.
Fire District 43, Frackville, Shenandoah EMS and Altamont fire company were dipatched to Exit 124 Interstate 81for an accident involving a tractor trailer and an automobile. C368 assumed incident command. One car was in the Nort Bound lane with 1 patient entrapped in the driver seat. District 43 and Altamont crews used cutters and rams to extricate the patient. The tractor trailer involved continued north on Interstate 81 and crossed the median into South Bound Lane and hit guardrails. The patient from car was flown from Schuylkill Mall and driver of the tractor trailer was transported by ground to hospital. Englewood Engine 369 and 17-60 assumed the landing zone. Both lanes of the Interstate 81 were closed until vehicles were removed. Mahanoy City and Ryan Township units provided traffic control on the Interstate.

At 23:49 hours District 43 and Minersville EMS were dispatched to mile marker 114 north bound Interstate 81 for a vehicle accident. Engine 43-10 arrived and a vehicle on its roof with all occupants self extricated. The engine's EMT evaluated and treated the injured before Ambulance 52-01 arrived. The engine crew assisted the Ambulance crew and stood by until the vehicle was removed by the tow truck.

At 16:00 hours the Frackville-Goodwill, New Castle-Wadesville, Altamont, Englewood Fire Companies were dispatched to MM 123 SouthBound Interstate 81 for a tractor trailer fire. Engines 43-15and 43-10 arrived on scene and found a truck with a blown turbo. No fire was found and all units were cancelled.

At 09:00 hour Fire District 43, Englewood, and Altamont Fire Companies were dispatched 500 West Laurel St. for a commercial fire alarm. Ladder 43-20 responded with a full crew and found the call to be a false alarm. The facilty staff was testing the system. All units were canceled shortly.

At 23:05 hours Distrct 43, Englewood, Altamont, Frackville BLS, and Shenandoah ALS were dispatched to the Frackville-St. Clair Grade Southbound (area of deadmans curve) for a vehicle accident with injury. Engine 43-10 arrived first and found a one pick up truck off the road with minor front end damage. The driver was out and had a minor shoulder injury but refused treatment. Engine 43-10 provided lighting and traffic control at the scene. State police then released all units.

At 09:00 hour Ladder 43-20 was dispatched to the Mahanoy City High School for smoke in the structure. Prior to pulling out of the station the ladder was cancelled.
At 19:30 hours Goodwill Engine 43-10 and 43-15 stood by at a bon fire at the Frackville Memorial Field. The bon fire was conducted to support the Frackville Area Youth Footbal program. The two units had to leave during clean up for an accident on Interstate 81.
At 14:00 hours the Goodwill Fire Company took part in the Frackville Borough Halloween Parade. Goodwill and Englewood fire units led up the rear of the parade.
At 19:05 hours Fire District 43 was dispatched to 224 North Nice St. in Frackville to assist the Frackville Ambulance with lifting. A number of personnel responded by POV and assisted the Ambulance Crew. District 43 personnel were in service in 15 minutes.
At 09:10 hrs. Citizens & Humane Fire Co's were dispatched to 1 W. Centre st. for smoke in a commercial building. Chief 455 (Fowler) arrived on scene and confirmed smoke on the second floor and requested a full 1st alarm assignment. Ladder 43-20 set up on the A/D corner of the building. Crews checked the building and found the cause to be a malfunctioning heating unit. 1 hour. Other units on scene E451,E465,E462,T461,R993,4870,L4320 & E367 Rit.

October 13th at 07:53 hours at mile marker 121 Interstate 81 north bound. Vehicle accident with multiple roll over with no injuries. Engine 43-10 and Engine 43-15 took in the call.
