Clan Foxrunner

Runemaster Raikou (Elementalist)

Raikou? Aye I  knew him, or knew of him, I don’t think anyone really knew him.  He was born, like all things, he had a mother and a father and a family, but where he came from or where his destiny lies, I don’t think anyone knows for sure.  He was a good man what more do you need to know?

-Arian Tobias Locksley, Archmage

Raikou, born Raikou Stormblade was found on the altar of one of the statues of Dwayna and was taken in by a group of monks who had come there to pray. Growing up in the monastery it would not have been hard to Imagine the elven child to become a monk. But that was not to be his future. At the age of twenty he had an epiphany on the top of Wizard's Peak where Dwayna descended before his eyes after a long debate about life in which Raikou stated that a mortal with a strong will could be just as influential as the most powerful deity. Seemingly pleased with his response, Dwayna proposed a wager. She had come to tell him of his heritage, his destiny to become the Runemaster of Air. If he could indeed surpass her challenges to achieve his destiny, then upon his death he would replace her as the God of Air. However, if he could not then his soul would be lost in the annals of history and he would live in eternal torture in the Underworld.

It was a divine wager with a high price but Raikou accepted, confident in the power of his will, and raced back to the monastery to tell his brethren of his encounter, but when he reached the top of the last hill he saw that the monastery had been destroyed in his short absence and quickly found that he was the only survivor. It was only then that he realized the high price of his wager and from that day forward he vowed that he would undo this curse, whatever it took.

Kveldulf Sveng (Ranger)

Kveldulf Sveng hails from an area just north of the Crystal Desert. He grew up in an area where he could reach both the great forests and the majestic desert. In his youth Kveldulf would venture out by himself into the woods and would watch the wolves in the forest. He felt a great connection with the wolves, but was always saddened by the fact that he could never feel that way with any of the people around him. When he felt as if he could take it no more, he would go out into the desert for long periods of time to cleanse his soul.

During the night while in the desert he would sit atop the highest sand dune he could, and would stare out across the great expanses before him, and contemplate the world. These regular excursions forced him to learn to defend himself. Having suffered from illness in his youth his body was at a disadvantage in hand-to-hand combat, so he instead learned to use the bow. Several years later after the monotony of the small village in which he was raised became too much to handle, he packed up what he needed, took what gold he had, took his bow and quiver, and set out for the great city of Ascalon. The trek north was long and arduous, but it was rejuvenating for his soul. He arrived at the great city a paltry two days before the searing of Ascalon, but nonetheless, the energy and camaraderie endeared the city to him. He immediately signed up to help defend the city from the Charr.

After a year he began to get the same lack of a “pack” feelings that he felt when he was with the wolves in the forest by his home. Despite this, he resolved to stay in Ascalon. Another year passed before something happened that changed his life. He was sent to help Prince Rurik find a new refuge from the Charr. It was while in Lion's Arch that Kveldulf met the person who would change his life. Kveldulf was getting a new set of armor for the trials ahead when he found that he was short on materials, and decided to ask around if anyone had spares. Only one person responded to him. His name was Feraeond Foxrunner.

It was at this time Kveldulf finally met someone who knew how he felt. They spent the next hour discussing various aspects of life, and while discussing he made the mistake of destroying the pair of pants that he had just had made, and Feraeond insisted on reimbursing him for the cost, but Kveldulf would not have it, it took the better part of a half an hour for Feraeond to convince Kveldulf that he would not budge until he was allowed to pay for it, and he conceded. It was a month later that Kveldulf joined the group of like-minded rangers known as the Foxrunners. Though Feraeond has moved on, Kveldulf has remained with them.

Raeja Bartol (Monk)

Raeja was a simple but successful Ascalonian farmer. Born in Regent Valley, the Bartol family was humble and quiet and had Dwayna's blessings in order to provide not only for themselves but the people of the valley. But when the Charr attacked a new calling befell Raeja and with Dwayna's blessing he took up arms to defend the valley and all he loved.

Raeja left the valley, but unlike other monks who stepped forward Raeja choose to guard the walls instead of healing the fallen. Dwayna guided his focus as he fought side by side with the Ascalonian soldiers, the support and devotion he displayed in battle after battle earned him the nickname "Dwayna's Fist of Justice". But Raeja had no need for titles or clever names, he simply did what the gods asked of him and saw every dead Charr he smote as an approval of his actions.

Then came the Searing... so devastating and widespread that it killed most of the division he was in while he layed in a coma for several weeks. When he awoke he was horrified at what had happened, his valley and his people destroyed. Dead bodies were abundant and it wasn't long before he was given the task of performing burial ceremonies to the family of ones lost. He couldn't bear this burden for long and tried to turn to Dwayna for guidance, but instead Grenth answered him. Grenth felt the sorrow and vengeance in his heart and let Raeja impart on a different quest, a quest of unholy vengeance. He granted Raeja the ability to cause the people he had cared for to rise up from the dead in order to seek vengeance again the Charr and their heathen ways.

For years Raeja fought and served as a harbinger of life and death, and those years took their toll as he aged. As he moved along the paths to Tyria he became bitter but wiser, a quiet man who knew the balance of the fates and would be just as quick to heal as to kill. Word spread that Dwayna's Fist of Justice had returned, but whenever Raeja entered a town the people fell silent knowing that this justicar was every bit as deadly as he was kind. He now acts as both a justicar of Dwayna and a guardian of the dead for Grenth, still keeping balance the roles of life and death.

The Dark Lord (Dervish)

The Dark Lord born and raised was raised in a wealthy Elonian estate, free from the troubles of the world. As he grew he decided he didn't want to become a king or a ruler that would die and never be remembered, so the eager dervish left his home and became a "badboy". One day his father received a message that the people of his great land needed a great hero. Being only 18 and not experienced Dark knew he needed help. The determined dervish took only his primeval armour and his great scythe and set out to kill the great evil that had come upon their land.

He ran his way over mountains, rivers, lakes, oceans, even through the grasp of Grenth himself. He eventually made it to the capitol of of Istan, Kamadam. For two long years with help of fellow rebels he fought his way through Istan, through Vabbi and through the Realm of Torment, becoming a battle-hardened warrior. While the great dervish was traveling through his father's land he felt the need to go and see his family one last time before entering the Realm of Torment. He had heard reports only 2 days ago that the fallen god Abaddon was sought to corrupt their land and take their lives. The holy warrior knew that Abaddon wanted him dead but he didn't care, he ran as fast as he could, cutting down all enemies in his path, desperately trying to save his family and his father's kingdom before it was too late. But alas, when he arrived Abaddon had left nothing standing... his family was dead and the kingdom in ruins. The feelings of loss as his family was torn away from him utterly devastated the great dervish. That day he took a vow that he would strike down Abaddon and redeem his father's great name, and with that his life went through a sudden change of fortune.

Three days after losing his family he arrived in Kamadan to honor the spirit of Wintersday with Dwayna and Grenth. During the festivities he met a guild leader that was also on a journey to destroy Abaddon.  The guild leader took him in and together they defeated Abaddon and had regained his family's honor. That day the great dervish who had wandered without friends and family found himself once again among friends... that day he had found a great home to stay and stick with forever.

Tserrof Gehenna (Necromancer)

Tserrof Gehenna was one of the greatest villains to plague the history of Tyria. It is said he lived long ago, before the Guild Wars, before the days of Ascalon's Great Northern Wall, and long before Orr was a great city. Tserrof Gehenna was the first undead lich of Tyria. He reigned over a vast undead army from a small island in the center of the Tyrian bay. Many innocent lives were lost to his vicious experiments in necromancy. But although he committed many evils towards the people of Tyria this is not what men would remember him by.

The greatest story of Gehenna begins as a young Orrian mage by the name of Khilbron finds a mysterious stone shard that could suppress and capture the magical powers of whomever it was pointed at. The young Khilbron devised a plan to use this to suppress Gehenna's terror; Accompanied by several Orrian commandos, Khilbron snuck past the Prime Lich's defenses by stowing away in a boat full of "tributes" to be given to Gehenna by the fledgling kingdoms of Tyria. After a brutal battle to the throne room, Khilbron was able to surprise Tserrof and capture his powers before he had time to react. Having been rendered helpless, Khilbron and his commandos were able to easily overpower the lich. All that Tserrof said after his capture was, "A shard of the dragon."

Tserrof was buried alive under Serenity Temple inside the now grand kingdom of Ascalon, chained by binding spells the priests inscribed into his immortal bones. The mystical shackles would cause him to use the rest of his immortal life to serve the innocent citizens of all Tyria. He was soon forgotten amongst the chaos strewn about by the Guild Wars. When the Charr began their invasion of Ascalon, a young Prince Rurik ordered Mhenlo to activate the dark guardian of the innocent, known as Tserrof Gehenna, and the rest is history. Tserrof Gehenna has not been seen since the day he stole back his powers from the undead lich; but tales of people being saved from bandits and muggers by a demonic hero glowing with angelic inscriptions have been emerging. It is said that all he mutters as he leaves is, "Beware the Awakening, for I have seen their might."

The Three Deathbringers (Ranger/Elementalist/Paragon)

Rayne Ice

Rayne Ice hails from Ascalon, where her family was one of many victims in the Searing. Many a year passed fighting Charr in the woodlands, all the while honing her ranger skills. She learned the ways of charming wild beasts, and gained an understanding of tactics over time. She dispatched many Charr in the name of Ascalon and family. A hardened bowman and beast master, she used her skills for money after the Tyrian conflicts subsided. One day an offer of gold set her on her way to Cantha, and to Emperor Kisu’s court. The emperor told her of a secret mission using outsiders to break up a Kurzick council unity pact.

Stormweaver Vortex

Stormweaver Vortex hails from Arah in Orr from the olden times, before it sank into the sea. He was on a pilgrimage of wisdom to enlighten himself on the elemental arts when Orr met its tragic fate. All that he knew died that day, and some say he died that day to. The following years were a blur of emotions, his hateful fiery rage. With fire and ice, earth and the winds he laid waste to Charr across the lands. But even after the battles were over the emotional outbursts still had a grip on his soul. One day an offer came to him about a secret spell that would calm his soul, but he would first have to travel to Cantha and apply his skills for Emperor Kisu before he was allowed to receive it.

Maximus Heximus

Maximus Heximus hails from Vabbi, the northern lands of Elona, and enlisted as a Sunspear in his youth. He gained many honors and rewards for countless battles against Varesh's forces and Abaddon's minions. He was fiercely loyal to country and family. After the defeat of Abaddon and his minions, Maximus returned home to find his brother had been slain by an assassin contracted by Varesh. His sense of duty demanded revenge for his brother’s murder. He ventured to the distant lands of Cantha to seek audience with Emperor Kisu to locate the assassin. In doing so he was excommunicated from the Sunspears. Emperor Kisu informed him that he knew of this assassin, but first he must complete a mission for payment of such information.

And so the three were united to carry out a secret mission in the lands of Cantha. During the battle with the Kurzicks, an elder council member cast a spell upon the group that united them into one entity, body and soul. This caused a shape shifting ability, so only one physical being could be seen at a time. With their powers combined they won the battle, forcing the Kurzicks to stay fractioned... But in return their hatred for Kurzicks was cast forever. They wandered attempting to find a way to reverse the spell, seeking leads wherever it took them, but to no avail.

Finally resigned to there fate, Rayne happened upon the Foxrunner guild. Glad to finally be a part of something good again they joined the guild, each gaining something. Rayne gained a sense of family again, Stormweaver gained some emotional control from nature's soothing ways, and Maximus was able to fulfill his sense of duty through the guild . So there they stay, shifting in and out dispatching the evil from the land. They were thankful to the noble brethren of the Foxrunner clan for bringing them into the forestfold, and hope to contribute to any honorable deeds the clan endeavors in.

Abby Tesla (Ranger)

Abby Tesla is a young woman hailing from the deep Elonian desert. Born and raised by a hardy tribe of desert nomads, Abby is no stranger to the lifestyle of a ranger. Billed by some as "The Desert Rat," she is a survivor by nature, quick in the mind as well as on her feet. She is renowned for not only her adaptive nature and strong will, but also her deep sense of loyalty and duty. Abby may be described by some as headstrong and erratic, however her easygoing demeanor and friendly attitude ensure that others always feel at home. But underneath her cheery personality, she hides a dark past.

Soon after her birth the Kournan army began to hunt down her people under the pretenses that they were "dangerous primitives" and "more comprised of savage beasts than civilized men". As their numbers dwindled, her surviving tribesmen learned to become masters of evasion and hit-and-run combat. Her people found a home amidst a remote series of rocky alcoves and quickly discovered the strategic advantage that naturally occurring tunnels offered in conjunction with their pre-existing guerilla tactics. However, after several years, the Kournan army learned of the location of their new home and took action.

While Abby was out on reconnaissance, Kournan forces bombarded her rocky home with deadly fire magic. Taken completely off-guard, those who did not die during the initial assault were mercilessly slaughtered by a regiment of Kournan foot soldiers as they tried haplessly to defend themselves. The Kournans came and went, leaving Abby to return to the scene of the massacre just hours later. She arrived in time to cradle her older brother !Xabbu in her arms, allowing him to tell her of the tragic battle, only seconds before he was gripped by the icy claw of Grenth. As it happens, she would have celebrated her 10th birthday on that fateful day.

One by one Abby buried the members of her tribe in the ground just outside of the defaced alcoves she had learned to call home. The sight of mutilated corpses and scent of charred flesh became more and more distant as each body disappeared beneath the earth. Inside she became hardened, detached, and burned with a silent fury. Alone with only the teachings of her people to guide her, Abby trekked the desert sands searching for home. She wandered from villages, towns, and cities trying to find something to redefine a foundation for her existence. By chance she ended up fighting alongside Feraeond Foxrunner, the leader of Clan Foxrunner, against hordes of the Afflicted in Cantha and the two began a loose friendship. Ultimately it was this friendship that later on led to her joining the hearty band of rangers known as "the Foxrunners". Among the Foxrunners she found the same sort of free-spirited comradery that had once filled the empty hole she'd harbored since childhood - The glove fit perfectly. Nearly a decade after the genocidal campaign that destroyed her people, it became clear that Abby Tesla had finally found her home.

How to write a Bio about your Character

First of all, remind yourself that, while the bio is supposed to be fairly short in length (around 500 words), it's also supposed to be interesting. It's OK if you go over that limit, but try to keep that mark in mind when writing. You can write it from a first, second, or third person perspective;  use it to give your character's background history, their current mindset, or describe their personality. Remember to include their current level and occupation.

Secondly, do NOT simply write a list of stats (i.e. "W/M lvl 20, fissure armor, longsword dmg 11-22, two globs of ectoplasm for sale 20K each...") This part of the website is supposed to be entertaining, not just factually informative! You can, however, use your current stats as a basis for your bio (example: "Horus the Pale discovered the art of necromancy at an early age... he acquired his fiery shortsword when he defeated a demon while crossing the Ring of Fire...")

Be creative! Which country did your character come from? Is he all human? How did she come to her current profession? Who does your character prefer to party with and why? What was their reason for joining Clan Foxrunner? This is your chance to make your character more than just a name on the guild roster. Make the best of it!

Email your bio to berserker_abby@yahoo.com to have it posted with your character's photo.

How to Photograph your Character

To take a picture of your character, log on to Guild Wars and go to a location of your choosing (International districts are the least crowded). By pressing Ctrl+Shift+H, you can preview what the picture will look like with all interface removed from the screen. Pressing the key combination again will reset interface. To take the picture without any interface showing up, you can either press Print Screen with it turned off via the previously ascribed method or you can press Shift+Print Screen, which will snap the picture without any interface showing but otherwise leave it all in place. The picture will be stored on your computer in the Guild Wars program folder inside a secondary folder called "Screens". You can then either play around with the photo in Photoshop/GIMP/MS Paint/PaintShopPro program, or send it directly to me. Email the photo to me at berserker_abby@yahoo.com and you're done!
