Ah, my brethren. I greet you once again as your servant and equal. I value my loyalty to you who are with us as much as I value yours. Let us never forget the shadows which we alone can see and take all measures to prevent them from creeping out of what holes they belong in. For the highest walls and most stalwart towers men boast of can do little to defend against that which they are not aware until it is too late and the darkness has grown thick enough to break through them. Ever look to the ground, the trees, and the animals for our warning. Let us stand together, my brethren. Even if evil finds the very heart of the forestfold and threatens to overwhelm it, let us stand shoulder to shoulder. Let our arrows find their marks in the flesh of those who would destroy us or oppress free men in their way of life!
The clan will remain stronger with such solid determination at our back and inspired purpose to our front. For you are, each and every one of you in the forestfold, noble and stout. And I am certain that we will find others of like mind, adding to our number and the collective understanding of the ranger way. And so saying, I leave you to your thoughts and wish you fair winds to guide your arrows until we meet again.
-Words left by Feraeond Foxrunner, Hero of the Forestfold.
July 14, 2008 - Wow it's been awhile since an update! Anyways this is to let everyone know that Crow has decided to merge with us. Over the next week or so we should be seeing a few new faces so be sure to say hello. ;-)
April 17, 2008 - The member biography section has been updated with new characters and pictures, be sure to check it out!
Oh, and if you missed April Fools we were turned into stick figures instead of the sex-change from last year. Alliance Battles were utter chaos. XD See Kveldulf's bio picture for an example. Har har.
March 31, 2008 - News just posted on the Guild Wars website: Gaile Gray is leaving! For those of you who don't know her, she's been community relations manager (and good friend of The Frog) since the start of Guild Wars. Now, to celebrate her service to community there will be an in-game going away party. It will run from 12 Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Friday April 4th to 12 Noon Pacific on Monday April 7th. Celebrations will be goign on all weekend and take place in Shing Jea Monastery, Kamadan, and Lion's Arch, so you have no excuse to miss out! ;-)
Since most of us live in the Central time zone (GMT -5), I've taken the time to convert the schedule as follows:
Friday April 4th, 2 PM : The Frog's friends start to gather in Shing Jea, Kamadan, and LA.
Saturday April 5th, 2 PM : The Rabbit arrives and begins hosting party events. The Frog will appear every 3 hours in each city until 2 PM on Monday.
Monday April 7th, 2PM : The festivities end.
There will be plenty of sweets and party items available, and The Frog's friends should have rewards for anyone helping them collect whatever odd items suit their fancy. And who knows what The Rabbit might have in store for us? (Hopefully not a lot of Frogs using Spontaneous Combustion.) Don't forget to stop by and blow up some fireworks for Gaile!
March 5, 2008 - Freewebs decided to wreak havoc on our previous template, so you may notice a few unfamiliar things around. I've been doing my best to manually go through and change everything back to how it looked before. If you see something off feel free to either tell me in-game or shoot me an email.
Oh, and welcome back to the Foxrunners, Jack Sparrow. ;)
January 5, 2008 - The new year is upon us, I hope everyone had a great break (especially if you're still having it!) Wintersday was fun and introduced two new holiday hats, Dwayna's Wreath Crown and Grenth's Ice Crown. Many holiday items were given out, candy cane weapons were crafted, and of course following tradition, Dwayna and Grenth's supporters duked it out in the Snowball Arena. If you missed the event and didn't get your hats, don't fret - You can still get them by talking to a Festival Hats NPC before Tuesday, January 8th, noon PST! On a related note I've added the newest three NPCs to our hall, including the Festival Hats maker, so you can save yourself a laggy trip to Lion's Arch or Kamadan and just come straight to the hall for your hat. :-)
Random cool fact - Grenth's ice helm was based on the design which won ArenaNet's Guild Wars Wintersday 2007 contest. Congrats to Nian for winning the contest and getting tons of Guild Wars merchandise!
November 12, 2007 - After the break up of The Soviets alliance due to their decision to join a Kurzick alliance, Gehenna came to us last week with the proposal to again form an alliance with the intention to unite old friends. The alliance is composed of three guilds, Clan Ravenwing, Clan Foxrunner, and the Order of the Wolf, each guild of which is made up of either Foxrunners or former Foxrunners. It is my hope that this smaller, more localized alliance will have better relations and interaction within its members. Our first alliance event took place on Saturday night in the form of a trip to the Underworld. I plan on keeping track of alliance events on the Alliance page, so be sure to check it out - The details of our Underworld trip are already recorded. If you're unsure of yourself, don't be afraid to just say, "Hi," in alliance chat sometime... who knows, you might even start up a good conversation and make a friend. The important part of an alliance is to mingle and hang out with your friends, so make sure you're active so you can join us for more alliance events in the future!
For appearance's sake I've also removed some of the pages from the navigation menu that either weren't applicable or weren't being used, like the Who's My Warden page. In the event that we again gather a decent amount of active members I plan on reviving the warden page and assigning them to teams serving under different wardens like we did before. The rank/title of warden still stands however - The only wardens at this time are Warden Stormweaver Vortex and Warden Kveldulf Sveng.
October 23, 2007 - The festivities for Halloween will be starting this weekend! On Friday a new holiday event will be introduced - Costume Brawling! This weekend you will be able to find both Kamadan and Lion's Arch decorated in the Halloween spirit, the return of holiday collector NPCs, and a variety of holiday items added to drops, including a new mystery item. Don't forget to visit our beloved Mad King Thorn next Wednesday on the 31st in Kamadan and Lion's Arch in order to obtain your new celebratory hat!
More information can be found at the Guild Wars website detailing the event, including information on the new Costume Brawling mini-game.
September 17, 2007 - A new page of the Bows and Boughs comic has been added. Be sure to get Raikou some pictures of your character if you are interested in being in the comic. See the Guestbook for details.
September 7, 2007 - Guild Wars: Eye of the North, the very first expansion in the Guild Wars series has been out for about two weeks now, and I think that those of us who've been playing it can definitely vouch for its quality. This expansion takes you back to the storyline of Guild Wars: Prophecies, where you will travel into the upper regions of Tyria and experience things you've never seen in Guild Wars before. You can have heroes from different races; The Norn, the Asura, the Deldrimor dwarves... Even the Charr! GW:EN also introduces a concept that is unique to many Guild Wars players, but wonderfully nostalgic to anyone who remembers classic RPGs: Multi-level dungeons. Not only does every dungeon have a treasure chest for you at the very end, but all of the drops and enemies in GW:EN are equivalent to those of Hard Mode, there's an assortment of new titles available, all new armor sets, dozens of new skills, new items, challenging foes, great storyline... Let's just say there's lots of things to keep you from getting bored. Anyone who has at least one Guild Wars game on their account can purchase and play GW:EN either via the Guild Wars Online Store, the PlayNC website, or from a local retailer. If you're interested, you can find more information on Guild Wars website's Eye of the North page: http://www.guildwars.com/products/eyeofthenorth/default.php
August 15, 2007 - This is the first update by the new guild leader,
Abby Tesla. For the next couple of days, I ask all members to consider
this a trial period. You will be free to leave as you please, there
will be no hard feelings. Nightwolf Hellrazor has created a new guild,
Order of the [Wolf], and everyone is welcome. For now, I will lead the
Foxrunners until things settle down. We will be joining an alliance
named The Soviets with [Wolf], as well as with the guilds of two former
Foxrunners, Bella of [Dark] and Dez of [CCCP], the latter of whom is
the leader of the alliance. In doing this I aim for two things: The
preservation of our friends and family from everyone's time as a
Foxrunner, and stability in the event that the Forestfold falls - this
way everyone has friends in at least three guilds of which they can
fall back on. To compensate for the loss of two officers, Nightwolf
and Spray, I have promoted two of our older and more experienced
members to the rank of Officer (which we know as a Warden.) I am sure
that they will both serve their positions well, so please do your best
to offer them your support. I will be re-assigning members to Wardens
when things have calmed down enough that we know who all has decided
they want to stay.
New Leadership
August 15 - After a long time spent arriving at a difficult decision, Feraeond departs the forestfold forever and entrusts it to the capable hands of Warden Abby Tesla, made leader to the clan in all matters on this day and henceforth unequivocally unless she should ever choose otherwise. May her prudence and consideration bring the brethren into a new era of fulfillment and purpose.
August 13 - This day marks the second year anniversary of the clan website!
August 2 - The summer nears its end and the time approaches when the first and presumably final expansion of Guild Wars will be released. If it was not known previously, the clan should be well informed that Call of Protection does not cover all animals within hearing as one might suspect by its description, but in fact only affects the pet of the particular shout giver. On an additional note, it has been suggested that dueling in the hall will follow a new precept of commencement. Once the combatants begin the match, a word of readiness should be exchanged by one and then the other to ensure both are ready before any offensive move is made. One such word put on the table thus far is 'en guard', cliché as that is.
July 10 - The general consensus about the summer Dragon Festival in Cantha was 'anti-climactic' with the demon mask having turned out to look monochrome, oversized, and ugly in the most boring sense of the word. As per tradition, this mask does away with any hair one may have down to their neck when they are wearing it. On the brighter side, Victory Tokens were easy to obtain by several quests and accounts with multiple characters made out well by fulfilling them and selling the tokens directly for as much as 40 gp each in the common market. Canthan Creme Brulee and Firewater futures went up by 2 1/4 points over the weekend and dye was down by 1 1/8 points due to the fact that demon masks could not be colored.
June 12 - The White Tigers headed out from the Forestfold, as many before them have, with a clear sense of purpose for what direction they were heading in. Reesha will test the waters to find success in leading her own guild, and in time they all may return once more to seek alliance with the forestfold. Until that day comes, let our best hopes and regards follow after them.
May 29 - In what must be one of the shortest-lived alliances in the history of the three continents, The Masters of the Environment was overcome by infighting and the subsequent leadership immediately ended the alliance without any explanation given. Let us take comfort in the steadfastness of the forestfold and continue in our bond unhindered.
May 27 - The votes counted in favor of forming alliance with the Masters of the Environment. Hopefully we can stand to benefit from one another in many tasks and develop a congenial respect toward one another as what one can offer the other becomes apparent. Let us raise a well-intended cup for undivided success and fervor in all we do together!
May 22 - Appointing a new warden is as yet still delayed until one dedicated enough to fulfill the position is brought forth. Meanwhile, the ranger Underworld Soloer, leader of the guild Masters of the Environment (http://clik.to/MoTe) has met with Feraeond and discussed an invitation toward the clan to form an alliance with them, advanced and organized though they are. Expectations on the clan would be limited entirely to voluntary participation in group events of varying nature with members of their guild. As it stands there is foreseeable good to come out of the exchange of perspectives without any obligation to tribute aid or anything else on either side. The decision will be reached on Saturday, pending the vote by any and all brethren in the clan. To do this, simply use the template on the page used to ask for membership and indicate your name and, in the comments section, whether the clan should stay independent or form a new alliance with the fellow ranger's guild. Hopefully we may arrive at a somewhat united decision in this matter.
May 10 - The clan perfects its first handy vanquishing build as several of the bretheren join and several depart. A new warden will shortly be appointed, and rumors of a duel over who is more worthy to lead run scattered through the forestfold. The two candidates are well-matched and, if necessary, a trial by single combat will decide who inherits the position.
April 14 - As spring advances and components age, Nightwolf is heralded as the new Keeper of the Hall in the clan. Having found the world outside unprudent for visiting at the time being, he watches from the highlands of the hall and waits for any who venture forth from that indomitable environment beyond. As Keeper of the Hall, Nightwolf will uphold the valliant nature with which we bretheren appraise ourselves. He sends his warm greetings and a word of caution to any imposter who wishes to tresspass on the solid ground that is our sanctuary.
April 1 - Feraeond and Ming met with two members of the Shadow Knights of Balthazar regarding the possibility of joining their alliance. It would be the opportunity for involvement with many who enjoy partying together and earning titles. This next week will be the open window for taking in votes as to whether such an alliance is in our interest. They have offered a risk free trial period in the alliance if the clan chooses to accept. By Saturday there will be a definite answer one way or the other. For any curious to learn more, their website offers some insight. http://www.m1webdesigns.com/skob
March 24 - In a sudden rallying by Warden Dez, tonight no doubt took it's toll on the smile muscles of many as the brethren partied together and created nonstop fun in Cantha and the Fissure of Woe. Be it ever so brief, the success of the brethren working together so lightheartedly was a symbolic milestone in the progress of the forestfold. May there be many other grand together times ahead.
March 4 - After a long period of gathering ideas and deciding the final choice, the comic is now officially named Bows and Boughs. Thanks to all who helped arrive at the choice and hopefully it turns out to be a good one.
February 12 - Runemaster Raikou has offered to take any and all suggested names into consideration for picking the name of the comic now posted on our site. Send suggestions to your warden before the 18th and if any of them are picked then the comic will not be unnamed much longer after that!
February 11 - Who's your warden? You can now see the new style of organization within the clan on the appropriate link. All details are included on the page.
February 9 - Runemaster Raikou, the renowned elementalist ranger of the clan, has taken it upon himself to exercise his extensive talent with artistry in creating a comic for Guild Wars. With the red tape still being sifted out on his end, he submitted a first page rough draft of what could easily become a published comic. As an added bonus he has hinted at the forestfold itself being included in some way in the comic. His comic in its most recently updated form can be seen on the Guild Wars Comic page. It is certainly worth a look.
February 7 - Seth Cynical has finished his quest for finding the best beaches in all the lands. It has been arrived at that the North Krytan beach west of Beetletun is the most pleasant of them all for its broadness, color, and the fact that there are come-hither islets connected by sand bars as an added bonus. If you too are a beach connoisseur, don't miss out on this one. You may even meet up with the fair-skinned Seth as he sunbathes in a desperate attempt to overcome the unnatural way all his melanin has fled. If you see him he's sure to give you a friendly smile fit to match the brightness of his general pallor.
February 6 - Last night Feraeond Foxrunner and Abby Tesla fine-tuned a two-ranger strategy for the Underworld that was entirely successful. It will hopefully lead to many more future fun-runs into the domain of Grenth. On another matter, the forestfold has at last left the alliance in unprotested agreement that it is for the clan's best interest. So may soft breezes begin to blow at winter's end when the air is warm once more.
January 27 - A routine lull overtakes the mood of the clan and the alliance as a whole with the setting in of Winter's few daily changes. The clan seer foretells the winds of change are rising and will bring with them good things. On a more present note, Feraeond Foxrunner has changed perspective toward the outside world of rangers and those who are within the clan. There are three states of existence which any ranger outside the clan is in. Either they are happily guilded and looked after by their closest of friends, they are unguilded or discontent with their guild, or they are the leader of their own guild. None of these three states warrant the need for favors if the respective ranger has no intention of joining the clan. It is no high price anyone needs to pay in order to be in the clan, as any member can attest to, and Feraeond has arrived at the ultimatum that being in the clan is not too much to ask for anyone who wishes to have its help. It is especially dastardly if an outsider ranger once given to freely takes what is learned and uses it for nothing other than to gain better position within their own guild. The unfortunate recent evidence which has led Feraeond to this is indisputable and has taught him yet another hard lesson. The loyal few will not be forgotten.
January 2 - With Wintersday finally at a close, some can count their blessings, and others can count their immense riches accrued through the short-sighted gullibility of strangers. But for everyone the pressure is now done with. Rest can finally be had once all shards have been turned into Wintersday Gifts and the goings on of the world return to an even keel. Over the holiday season four new rangers joined the clan despite the fact that there is no organized recruiting to speak of. Reesha Da Rey was promoted after having demonstrated so evidently her enthusiasm for the clan and personal skill with effectively communicating its message.
2007
October 11 - This day marks one month after the return of our half-elf leader. Two new rangers have come into the clan since, and though numbers remain few, those who do keep watch and remain in the stream of our communications have not failed us. The clan has alligned itself within a guild alliance which favors the meek and kindhearted. Let us hope that we can become closer to those empathizers of the ranger way who wish knowledge of it.
February 21 - Feraeond wishes Evinmeer Montala a good birthday, even if it cannot be the happiest she has had or will enjoy in the future. And he sends his greetings to all others from afar, wishing his return to come swiftly so that the joyful day of reunion with the bretheren may take place. He hopes to be able to send word to any who are interested about his exploits in the barren lands and what progress is being made, if any.
2006
November 11 - Evinmeer is calling for a clan meeting over this weekend (12-13th).
September 13 - The age of the half-elf wanes, and in its wake comes the time of men. And men will rise up to meet what they must with valor and courage. The council is in place, and so dawns this new era in the clan, for a time. May all blessings be upon their shared and singular endeavors. May the clan prosper and be steadfast under their guiding influence. May joy and peace flourish beneath the five-fingered ruling hand of the clan. But as for me, I will return to you after what lies before me is fulfilled.
September 3 - The time draws near that this clan's leader will be shipping off to explore new and more dangerous lands for a year or more. During this time, the guiding influence of the clan's direction will fall upon five select and willing members who will comprise a ruling council. At the least it will serve as a formality and give the appearance of order within the clan. At the most it will emplace new rules in the clan and change its very identity whilst Feraeond is away. Whatever may occur should the council hold together successfully, he hopes that the clan continues to grow rather than shrink and that its common theme of servant leadership does not die when the council considers the clan as a whole in its decisions.
2005
First of all, if you're a member of Clan Foxrunner, you have a space reserved on this site specifically for at least one character photo and bio (multiple characters are allowed, but each picture must be accompanied by its own bio). Instructions on how to photograph your character and write your bio are on the Clan Member Bios page. We encourage every member of the guild to take the time to contribute to this page and share their stories with each other, as we feel that this will make the game much more interactive and interesting to play.
You can also submit short stories, poems, and jokes (you will, however, need to keep things PG-13). Also, if you come across any graphics or clips that you would like to see on our site you can send them to me as well. Remember, this is your site too! If you want to see it here, you'll need to let me know - I'm a ranger, not a mind reader. Email me at berserker_abby@yahoo.com
