Mongol Rally 2007

THE LONDON TO MONGOLIA RALLY

How else to spend the summer, driving 8000 miles, across 2 desserts, 5 mountain ranges on roads ranging from bad to nothing more than a dirt track in a vehicle with a 1litre engine that should be in  the scrap yard.

The challenge: travel 1/4 of the way around the earth from London to Mongolia in any rubbish car that has an engine with no more than 1 litre of power.

The rally is just over 8000 miles, depending on the route, starting from London on 21st July and aim,to finish near the Mongolian capital Ulaan Bataar about three weeks later. The route is broken into three legs which vary in length, with an optional stop off at the end of each to catch some much needed rest.

The car carries two adventurers and is not only our mode of transport but also our home. For the purpose of speed driver and co-driver are likely to be sleeping and driving in shifts. its not essential, and if you cant part with your silver spoon there are plenty of hotels along the route, however if we want to finish with the rest of the rally it makes sense.

Our back up team isn't just small, it doesn't exist, going on the Mongol Rally we're just relying on ourselves. This is an adventure not a petting zoo so we can in no way guarantee our arrival at the destination or our safety.
