Starscream
The original G1 Starscream drawn as a birthday pressie for blackhellcat who noticed that the only pics of him in my gallery were silly cartoons with him prancing around in a dress.

By Popular Demand...
Ever since I submitted the pic of Starscream above I've been receiving requests to recolour it as the other Decepticon Strike Jets so here you go: Starscream (top left), Thundercracker (top right), Skywarp (bottom left) and Sunstorm (bottom right).

Jetfire
Autobot scientist and air guardian... and for anyone wondering why he appears to have Macross elements in his design - the Jetfire toy was a licenced use of the Valkyrie mould but copyright problems arose when they tried to use his appearance in the show, thus the 'Skyfire' character was created to represent him (follow this link for an interview with Floro Dery which mentions these events and also features the original toy-accurate animation model alongside the more familiar 'Skyfire' design).

Bumblebee
Everyone's fave mini Autobot, Bumblebee, redesigned around the modern incarnation of his traditional altmode - the Volkswagen Beetle. This pic ended up gracing the T-Shirts of members at tfarchive when they attended one of the many TF conventions a couple of years back.

BT-01 Smokescreen
Many moons ago the first little grainy jpegs of a new transformers line called Binaltech appeared on the web. I was so impressed with the figure I immediately had to draw him. Time passed and better quality photos revealled a whole load of errors in the design I'd made but I still like it as a piece so here he is - enjoy!

Emirate Xaaron
The sole surviving member of the Council of Elders and Autobot resistance leader on Cybertron. Xaaron was just a boxy humanoid with no real evidence of an altmode in the comics so I gave him a major makeover.

Impactor
Impactor, leader of the Autobot elite commando unit known as 'The Wreckers', was one of my favourite 'comic only' characters back in the day (I'm a sucker for a heroic death and this guy managed to pull it off twice). He never appeared in his altmode so I designed one for him.

|
|
|
Rack & Ruin
These two never had an altmode in the comic (the life-saving operation that left them joined also deprived them of the ability to transform apparently) so I redesigned them slightly.

Lord Straxus
Governor of Polyhex and Decepticon Commander on Cybertron in the old comics. An Autobot resistance cell led by Perceptor attempted to destroy the space bridge during it's first successful run - an event which resulted in the Autobots being transported to Earth (where they would eventually join the Ark crew) and Straxus being blown to pieces. His head was kept alive in a life support machine and he eventually attempted to use a mind transfer to take over Megatron's body - a possession which led to some interesting storylines...

Old Friends
Goldbug and Spike sit by the old abandoned space bridge and talk about old times...

All This and Civil War 2
Shockwave and Scorponok duel for Decepticon leadership - my take on a scene from the old Marvel G1 comic...

The Chaos-Bringer Cometh!
A golden oldie... This pic of Unicron is several years old now but it happens to be the first Transformer I'd drawn since the very early 90's and also my first attempt at computer colouring. I won't point out any of the many errors I've noticed in it since it was finished!

|
Ooops...
Something suitably dark and sinister. I don't know what Decepticon scheme Bumblebee was spying on, but it looks like he's been noticed...

Destiny Realized
Drawn by QuietStorm and coloured by me. The fateful battle in the belly of Unicron at the end of the original TF movie.

|
Auceps Prime
What if the Matrix had passed not to Ultra Magnus or Hot Rod but instead to the least likely? Bumblebee gets the Prime reformat. The name Auceps means 'spy' or 'eavesdropper' and also conveniently begins with Au, the chemical symbol for gold (suggestive of Bumblebee's previous upgrade to Goldbug).

Grimlock (pre-Dinobot)
Back when 'The War Within' first started I saw Don's impressive Grimlock (although I'm not a fan of those teeth!) and felt inspired to redesign his buddies since they hadn't appeared. Eventually, following many requests from my army of fans (yes - both of them!) I added my own take on Grimlock as well.

Smeltdown (Slag, pre-Dinobot)
Back when 'The War Within' first started I saw Don's impressive Grimlock and felt inspired to redesign the other four Autobots who would one day become the Dinobots since they hadn't yet appeared. If I ever draw these guys again I think I'll give Slag here a double flamethrower to be more suggestive of the horns on his Dinobot appearance.
|
|
|
|
Shellshock (Sludge, pre-Dinobot)
Another redesign of one of the four Autobots who would one day become the Dinobots. He's a hovercraft for easy maneouvering in swampy terrain.

|
|
|
Dunerunner (Snarl, pre-Dinobot)
Another redesign of one of the four Autobots who would one day become the Dinobots. Snarl here was the first one I drew. I gave him a dune buggy altmode because his bio stated that he missed the deserts (presumably of powdered rust!) back home on Cybertron.

|
Divebomb (Swoop, pre-Dinobot)
One of the early UK comic stories first gave Swoop's pre-Dinobot name as Divebomb which led to some quick additional writing when a Decepticon character with the same name appeared in the toyline. It turned out that the Decepticon had beaten Swoop in a fight once and adopted his name as a trophy. Swoop had travelled into Decepticon territoy for a rematch and had to be rescued by the leader he hated - Optimus Prime - adding to his humiliation and leading to a long running feud with the new Divebomb.
