Competitions
Flyball is a great way of meeting other people who love dogs. Team members will often stay on or near a competition site for a weekend’s racing - camping or staying in the dog friendly Travelodges. Everyone gets to take a mini break doing what they enjoy and what the dogs love doing, so everyone has a great time. The flyball circuit is like a big extended family where everyone helps out with advice or just friendly banter.
Flyball competition teams are made up of anywhere between four and six dogs and any of these dogs can run in any one leg of a race. We try to keep a particular team of dogs together so as to maintain a consistent seed time – albeit one that we endeavour to improve upon.
The competitions that we will be entering are mostly within a two hour drive; it is our aim to enter one or two a month. Competition days can be early starts and long days but they are what we train our dogs for and can very be very rewarding - especially if rosettes and certificates are achieved.
