Dustin grew up at the First Presbyterian Church of Burbank. It was through the youth programs led by Matt Hoyt when Dustin's faith became real to him. The Lord gave Dustin a call to become a youth director, pastor and missionary in his late teenage years. The Lord also confirmed that he should marry Jennie, now his wife. Dustin and Jennie gave birth to Madison in 2003.

Because Heather Stage & Kathryn Weiss cared about her salvation (inside joke), Jenny Smith started going to the First Presbyterian Church of Burbank's High School group when she was a sophomore in high school. Once she graduated, she went to Woodbury University and became a leader within the middle & high school groups. Jenny is currently a graphic designer, but plans to study at Princeton Seminary for her Master of Divinity starting this fall.
