The Storyteller is listed in the 101 Best of the Magazine Markets for 2006, along with an interview with editor Regina Williams.
The Storyteller, a 72 page magazine is geared to, but not limited to new writers. We accept all genres except pornography, erotica, new age, graphic horror, graphic violence, graphic langauge, nor do we accept anything deemed racial or biased toward any religion, race or moral preference.
We acquire first North American rights only. This means that once your story has appeared in print with us, you are free to submit this story elsewhere offering reprints rights.
The Storyteller is unique. We are available to answer questions from writers about writing. Whether it's how to set up a manuscript, or general questions about publishing or writing, we'll try to help in any way we can. We also strive to get a reply back to you within one week, two at the most. With us, you don't have to wait for months to know if you're manuscript has been accepted or not.
We offer prize contests throughout the year and we also nominate for the Pushcart Prize. The Pushcart is a yearly anthology of what editors of hundreds of magazines all over the U. S. believe to be the best story, essay or poem they've published for that year. We then send those to the Pushcart Prize committee for their final selection of what will appear in the following anthology. For an editor to choose your work over all the others printed that year is an honor. List it along with your bio. Every story, essay or poem that is published in the magazine is voted on by our readers each quarter. The winner receives a copy of the magazine in which their work appears and a certificate.
The Storyteller is an international magazine that not only goes to every state in the U. S., but to 17 foreign countries as well.
We offer features every issue that include Dusty's Column, a "how to" article on writing by noted western writer, Dusty Richards. Mr. Richards has published 70 books, hundreds of articles and speaks at numerous conferences around the country. He was inducted into the Arkansas Writers Hall of Fame.
Barb's Tidbits is another "how to" article written by Barbara Deming of California. Ms. Demining has published two books, "The Quiltmaker" and "Growing up Barefoot in the South", both available on Amazon.com. Ms. Deming has spent many years teaching writing courses and conducting writer's workshops in California.
Our Guest Column features a new and exciting writer each quarter. Past guest columnist have been Jodi Thomas, Peggy Fielding, literary agent, Cherry Weiner, Velda Brotherton, David Marion Wilkinson, and Terry Burns. They share their expertise with our readers and we are thrilled to have them on board.
Agents Q & A is simply that. If you have a general question about the publishing business or something about your work that will also pertain to others, then send your questions along to us at storyteller1@hightowercom.com and several agents have graciously consented to field those questions and give the best answer they can. So send in your questions and have an experienced agent answer them for you.
