Welcome to Fossil Creek Fibers!

***********************************************************************

Located in the beautiful Otselic Valley of Central NY, we have a small mixed flock of fiber sheep and several angora rabbits.

I am a fiber holic - I admitt it.

Maybe you are too, if so, then Welcome Friend!

As a fiber addict, I love to wallow in the newly shorn fleeces from my sheep, feeling the texture,

smelling the lanolin and sheep smell, ooo-ing and ahh-ing over such things as crimp and color.

I also do the same for friends and fellow shepards.

Each spring I acquire fleeces and each spring I tell myself -

NO MORE FLEECES!

The old saying  "JUST SAY NO" doesn't apply to fiber addicts, I'm afraid.

I have rationalized that the only way to continue is to begin to sell my fiber.

Appalled at the suggestion of parting with my coveted fleeces, I have gradually come to see, that  if I sell my fiber THIS year,

I can have more lambs for NEXT year! Yippee!

Not a bad trade off since lambs are ssooooo worth having every year.

Pretty good trade off I think, and fleece on the hoof is every bit as addictive as shorn fleece!

As for the bunns - we have English, German and Satin Angoras at the moment.

Colors are white, black, grey and tricolored ( broken tort is the official name for it )

which is white, brown and almost peach colored on the same bunn.

Our sheep are:

  • Black Corriedale
  •  Finn
  • Border Leicester X
  •  Icelandic
  •  Finn X
  •  Clun Forrest
  • Dorset

Fleeces range from white to shades of colors from grey to black.
