We accept all genres, but please remember this
is a family magazine and submit accordingly in fiction, non-fiction,
essays and poetry.
We do not accept pornography, erotica, graphic
horror, graphic language, graphic violence or anything deemed
racial or biased toward any religion, race or moral preference.
We acquire first North American rights only.
Send complete manuscript with cover letter. Please
include your name, address and phone number on the first page
of manuscript, along with an accurate word count.
At this time we are only accepting stories by snail mail, but once you've been accepted for publication, and if you have a computer, please email us with the submission in the body of the email. No attachements, please. If you do not have a computer, we will still continue as always with the hard copy.
For printed guidelines send #10 envelope. Guidelines on website and printed version are the same. No small envelopes
please. Writers of short stories should include a 4 to 5 line
bio.
Double-space all short story submissions and always
include a SASE. It is preferable if you use Courier 12 point
font.
All short stories 2,500 words max.
We welcome new writers of all ages, but encourage
the younger generation to share their thoughts and views with
us.
Read guidelines carefully. They are established
for a reason and we will not make exceptions.
Please send only two short stories at a time.
Poetry
We accept all forms of poetry
up to 40 lines. The same restrictions apply here as to the short
stories. Send only three poems per submission.
Reprints
We do accept reprints, but author must indicate
where and when the piece was first published.
We now pay 1/4 cent per word. No contributor copies. With your support,
however, that could change. Please consider a subscription
or even a single copy from our online store.
We occasionally look for original pen and ink drawings. They
must be extremely detailed. Cartoons about the writing life
and publishing business are always welcome. Query before sending
any artwork. E-mail: storyteller1@hightowercom.com
It is our intention and goal that everyone will find at least
one story or poem they enjoy in the magazine. We rely on the
generosity of our subscribers in our quest to bring a quality
magazine to the public. Give us a chance; we think you'll
be pleased.
