The narrowest of wins by Formby to keep their title hopes alive and a much relieved skipper at the end of the evening. He had failed miserably very early on but Mike Fraser had had an equally easy result.  None of the other games looked decisive until Mike Haslinger swindled a win and both Bart and Toby drew leaving the match in Gareth’s hands. He gave up his queen for a rook and connected advanced pawns but could not break through and the offer of a draw which won Formby the match was gratefully accepted. Aigburth's final match also against Prescot, has been postponed and will be played next Wednesday, at the same time that Formby are visiting Skelmersdale.
