Solo Visit by Turk.
Visit 2 by Turk & Dweeb.
Hatfield Colliery had been mothballed for a few years. It is in close proximity to both Rossington and Thorne collieries, and it has a very chequered past when it comes to strike disputes and other job-associated tom-foolery. One story in particular amused me when I was told. Apparently the workers dressed a concrete bollard in snow and a policemans outfit, and when the police arrived the chief said "and you can knock that down", One of the constables drove into the "policeman" snowman, only to completely ruin the police car against the bollard.
This was a pretty much spur of the moment explore, I visited both Thorpe Marsh power station and Doncaster race course on the same day. I managed to climb the headgear on my solo visit, but unfortunately on the return trip we couldnt manage them.
This was an awesome explore, but now the colliery is being re-commisioned and therefore its exploring future is questionable.
Pano of the conveyor and Headgear...

Conveyor with the Abandoned Thorpe Marsh power station lying in the background...

The lockers...hold stories...

Shift finished, sling them on the rack...

Conveyor cabin...

Across the yard...

Stairway to nothing it would seem...

Inside the conveyor..out...

Staircase in Silhouette...

The pinnacle of the headstock...

From one to another...

The winding cable, leading to winding house...

Down toward secondary winding house...

Headgear standing proud...

Engine House...

Lamp room, still on charge...

Locker row as never seen before...

Bathhouse familiarity...

and one of my favourite, the control room microphone...

An awesome experience, would love to see more of these before they are lost to vandalism or demolision..
