Welcome! Velkommen!

My name is Amanda and Traditional Folk Art and Crafts is my passion.

I'm especially interested in the traditional Painting of Norway, called Rosemaling and Hindelooper painting from the old Hanseatic town of Hindeloopen in Friesland, (The Netherlands). I enjoy many crafts such as Hardanger, Silk ribbon embroidery,Weaving, Tunisian crochet (Hakking), Knitting and Silk Painting. I am also interested in learning more about Hedebo embroidery.

You are very welcome to browse my site. I offer bonafide visitors two free beginner painting projects in Rosemaling and Florals (Sunflowers).

There will also be craft tutorials on Hakking and Painting in the video section and I plan to add more in time.
On the left you will find a page link menu listing useful Painting tips my family history and also delicious Scandinavian recipes.( see sidebar for page links)

If you've never painted before, don't be put off, you dont have to be artistic to begin folk or peasant art. Historically, traditional/folk art has been painted by ordinary people with little or no formal training.   Relying heavily on technique and intially a good dose of practise, Folk Art will create an artist in you.

I hope that you will find art and craft as theraupeutic as I do, in relieving the stress of our modern lives.
