England :         Lampard - Midfielder -

Brilliant season for Chelsea, will he keep it up?                     

                         Rooney - Striker -

English senasation and still only 18 years old, Wayne Rooney has taken the tournament by storm! Already the top goalscorer in the competition, Rooney's goals helped England to victories over Switzerland and Croatia. As long as he can keep his temper, and continue his form, i predict him as the player of the tournament!

Italy :                Nesta - Defender -

A typically brilliant Italian defender, and backbone of the team. Along with Cannavaro and Buffon, Nesta will be keeping Europe's attackers at bay. A brilliant knowledge of the game, and world class tackling and passing should see Nesta into the tournaments all-stars team.

                        Totti - Midfielder -

Although he is banned for two more matches, Totti could still play a vital role if the Azzuri make it to the final. Skill, awareness and elegance are just some of the class he posseses. The inspiration behind an extremely talented Italian team who have still only scored once!

                        Vieri - Striker -

One of the most feared strikers in Europe, Christian Vieri is a brilliant goal grabber. His pace and power, as well as his creativity should inspire him to bang them in. Yet to score though, Vieri and Italy may even face being knocked out from the tournament!

Germany :        Kahn - Goalkeeper -

In the top three goalkeepers in Europe and the Wotld, many people say Oliver Kahn is past it. I disagree. His presence, reactions and determination make him a brilliant player, and the captain of Germany strikes fear into the hearts of many strikers.

                         Ballack - Midfielder -

The most highly rated german player, Michael Ballack has yet to prove himself to many. His skill and natural ability are obvious, but it will take more than a bit of skill to establish himself as world class.

Portugal :        Deco - Midfielder -

Had a brilliant season with FC Porto, and is now being hunted by Chelsea. I think although Deco has played   well he has yet to really establish himself as a top class first team international.

                         Figo - Midfielder - 

Not the player he used to be, but still very good. Figo still has the pace, skill and inspiration to cause an upset. Portugal look to him for victory.

                         Ronaldo - Striker -

Since joining Man Utd , Christiano Ronaldo has improved greatly, and is now a sensationla player. His speed and tricks are immense and effective, and, like Rooney he looks to be a star of the tournament at such a young age.

Czech Rep :     Nedved - Midfielder -

The European footballer of the year has had a good competition so far, and the Czechs are through to the quarter finals. Whether the superbly gifted two footed Nedved can help them progress from there will be interesting.

Holland :         Stam - Defender -

One of the best defenders in the world, the bald head of Jaap Stam is feared by many. Solid and consistent are Stam's main attributes.

                         Davids - Midfielder -

A top class performer, the small dreadlocked davids with his special shades (for a rare eye condition - not to look hard!), Davids  is fit, competitive and skillful. A brilliant presence, Davids is world class when he performs to his best. links up well with Seedorf.

                         Nistelrooy - Striker -

Though he rearely scores from outside the six yard box, Ruud Van Nistelrooy really is Ruud in the way that he turns up every time to bang in the goals. Consistent, strong and fast, Nistelrooy also has a great penalty record.

Sweden :          Laarson - Striker -

A real predator, Laarson is probably going to go to Barcelona after the tournamnet, but not before he tries to help Sweden to progress as far as they can. He has a brillaint goal scoring record, and will be linking up with such players as Ljundberg , Kallsrom and Imbrahimovich (The one who scored that cheeky back- flick!
