The two staff members of the Society of Folk Dance Historians are Houston, Ron & Tatiana Nikolova-Houston. Ron's background: Ron researches, teaches, and writes about the history and practice of international folk dance when not working on his house and car or pursuing the Ph.D. Tatiana helps Ron, especially with Bulgarian materials, when not designing landscape or pursuing her Ph.D. They have one and a half daughters: Tani Houston.

Ron's Publications:
[Folk Dance Catalogue]. [Houston, Ron]. Austin, Tex.: Ron Houston, 1976.
[Folk Dance Problem Solver (year)]. [Houston, Ron]. Annual, 1987-. Austin, Tex.: [Society of Folk Dance Historians], 1987-. They each present detailed background information and instructions for about 40 folk dances.

Dances introduced:
[Marinera Monsefu], 1980.

Ron's Chronology:
1948, born in Austin, Texas.

1955, first folk dance class with Dr. George A. Lowrey.

1969, began regular folk dance teaching.

1971 to 1992, helped or conducted Festival Folklórico Internacional in Oaxtepec, Mexico.

1973 to 1992, directed weekend dance seminars in or near Austin, Texas.

1973 to 1995, directed Friday night folk dancing on the UT Campus.

1976, compiled Folk Dance Catalogue, a listing of some 10,000 names for some 5,000 folk dances.

1980, introduced [Marinera Monsefu].

1987 to date, compiled the annual [Folk Dance Problem Solver] series.

1993 to date, compiled the annual Folk Dance Phone Book And Group Directory (year).

1998, began the Folk Dance Encyclopedia.
