Lesson 2: Broom Types

Today class we are gonna continue to discuss broom types. Remember to check the rules on Attendance.

First off we have the Comet *shows broom*. The Comet Trading Company was founded by Randolph Keitch and Basil Horton in 1929. These were created as a competitor with the Cleansweeps. Different Comet models include Comet One-Forty, Comet One-Eighty, Comet Two-Sixty and Comet Two-Ninety. Its first broom was the Comet 140. Competition between the Comet and Cleansweep broommakers continued into the late 1930s, when secondary models came onto the market (such as the Tinderblast and Silver Arrow).

This leads us to the Silver Arrows *shows broom*. Notice how it resembles the Firebolt model. The Silver Arrow was another step forward for sporting brooms, able to reach seventy miles an hour with a tailwind. However it was crafted by one wizard only, Leonard Jewkes, so when demand got too great he couldn't keep up (and was eventually replaced by the Cleansweep series.)

And finally I have two more to show you. The Tinderblast *shows broom* was released in 1940 by the Black Forest company Ellerby and Spudmore. The Tinderblast was highly resilient, but not as fast as the Comets or Cleansweeps.
The Swiftstick *shows broom* was the second broom by Ellerby and Spudmore, faster than the Tinderblast, though it tended to lose power as it ascended, so again never gained much notoriety.

I have a friend that collects these brooms. All these are very old and very hard to find so be careful as I pass them around.

That is all for this class. I’ll see you all next week!
