We live in a wonderful world, made by God for us to enjoy. As the psalmist says, ‘To the Lord belong the earth and everything in it, the world and all its inhabitants. For it was he who founded it on the seas and planted it firm on the waters beneath.’ (Psalm 24: 1-2)
The Bible is not a book about some ‘pie in the sky’ heaven. It is set firmly here, in this world in which we live. From the creation of the world in Genesis, to the new heavens and the new earth described in the Book of Revelation, the world of the Bible is this same wonderful world that we share.
Indeed, Christians believe that in Jesus Christ, God has visited this world. He has walked this earth, sailed its waters, breathed its air.
We believe that God stands behind all of creation, and he delights in the pleasure we take from his gifts. And so, in our Flower Festival, we celebrate this Wonderful World.
I’d like to share a Flower Arranger’s Prayer, written by Leslie Mitchell of Chandlers Ford in Hampshire:
May God grant that our hearts, our eyes, and our hands may receive His inspiration, enabling us to glorify His House with the beauty of the leaves and blossoms which He has created.
May God bless you, as you enjoy this Festival of Flowers.
