MATERIALS: 1 pair Standard No. 2 needles - 14 in., 1 pair Standard No. 5 needles - 14 in., 1 Double-pointed needle - Size 5, Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product) 4 1-oz skeins

GAUGE: 6 1/2 sts to 1 inch.

BACK: With No. 2 needles cast on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of k1, p1 for 3 in. Change to No. 5 needles and k 1 row increasing to 106 sts. Work in pattern as follows:
Row 1: (wrong side) K2, * p6, k2, p2, k2, repeat from * across row ending p6, k2.
Row 2: P2, * k6, p2, k2, p2, repeat from * across row ending k6, p2.
Repeat above 2 rows for pattern. Work even until piece measures 11 1/2 inches from lower edge.

Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm. Decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times, then work as follows (right side): K1, p2, work a cable twist over the next rib of k6 as follows: slip the first 3 sts onto a double pointed needle, hold in back of work, k the next 3 sts, then bring the 3 slipped sts forward and k them, * p2, k2, p2, work a cable twist over the next 6 sts, repeat from * across row ending p2, k1.

On the next row work in ribbing for yoke as follows (wrong side):
Row 1: P1, * K2, p2, repeat from * across row ending k2, p1.
Row 2: K1, * P2, k2, repeat from * across row ending p2, k1.
Repeat above 2 rows until piece measures 6 1/2" from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows, then 7 sts and beginning of each of next 4 rows. Change to No. 2 needles, increasing to 33 sts. Work in ribbing of k1, p1 for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as Back until piece measures 4 1/2 inches from underarm. Work over 31 sts. Place on st holder. Bind off next 22 sts for front of neck. On remaining 31 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6 1/2 inches from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row twice, then 7 sts every other row twice. Work other side to correspond, joining yarn at neck edge, working 1 row even instead of 2.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 needles, on right side of garment, pick up 75 sts from shoulder to shoulder. Work in ribbing of k1, p1 for 8 rows. Bind off.

Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 needles cast on 82 sts. Work in pattern as given for lower part of back until piece measures 2 inches from lower edge. Change to No. 5 needles and continue pattern until piece measures 4 1/2 inches from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times, then work 1 row of cable twist (right side) as on back. Work in ribbing as given for yoke, decreasing 1 st at each end every 4th row 3 times. Continuing ribbing, bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row to 22 sts. Bind off.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
