04/30/09 Dick Holt Reports that as a result of some recent blood tests, Sandra had a arteriogram performed today and the results were not good. She has 90% blockage in 3 arteries and 70% blockage in another. So, the doctor will do two stints next Wednesday and then two more stints next month. Actually, her blood test have been consistently good but she has been getting tired very early lately. They did some form of calcium deposit test and it was conclusive there was calcium buildup and blockage but today was to find out how much. Will keep you posted. Dick
05/06/09 For all -- Just got home from the hospital. She had to arrive by 1000, then prepped and sked for procedure at 11:30, nurse came in and advised that the doctor had run into some difficulty with a patient and was running behind and it would probably be around 1:00pm. They got her in at 1:30pm and she returned to the room at 2:30pm. The doctor said “everytning went as planned and the stents procedure went “perfect”... So, they kept her until 8pm for observation, finally got some water and food into her, up walking and good to go... She is limited to activities. etc.. and has to go back to the doctor on the 26th for a follow-u and scheduling for the next procedure. We sincerely appreciate all the good vvibes coming our way and it’s comforting to know friends care...THANKS!!! Dick & Sandra
06/10/09 Sandra update: Sandra went in early this morning for a subsequent procedure. Plan was to insert two more stents in the remaining 2 arteries that were 90% blocked. However, Doctor informed me that one of the arteries had two significant blocks and he had to insert two separate stents in that artery. She came through fine and they want her to consider volunteering for a clinical trial based around stents and their adherence to Plavix. In it’s present lower dosage that is the norm for cardiologists. So, they have 60 different sites throughout the country and this hospital is one of them where they select approx 20 individual patients to volunteer for a 6 month study, paid for by the investigational body and the drug manufacturer. Think she will opt to go for it as it doesn’t seem to have any negative values, aside from a couple of possible incovenient times for blood work, etc. I just got home to attend to a few thing and let the dog out -- she will get released round 5PM today.
