Your training will be done at St. Charles Municipal Airport located in St. Charles Missouri.

St. Charles Municipal is a great airport to train out of for anyone wishing to get a feel for the grass-roots of aviation. Here there are no control towers to delay you in your flight and you have to option to takeoff and land out of 1 of  3 runways either on concrete or grass.

The airport is located just north of HWY 370 on Elm St/New Town Blvd.

How much flight time am I looking at?

To obtain a Private pilot license you must obtain the following requirements.

Personal requirements

-Be at least 16 years of age to be a student pilot and 17 years of age at the time of completion of training.

-Read, speak, write and understand the English language.

Flight training

-40 hours of total time flight time.

Those 40 hours break down into....

-20 hours of flight training with a flight instructor that are broken down into various training lessons.

-10 hours of solo flying accomplishing various tasks set forth by the flight instructor.

The remaining 10 hours are used to perfect any weak areas that are set forth by the instructor/student, these can be done solo or with the instructor.

The majority of the flight lessons are 1.5 hours (1.0 flight hour and .5 pre and post lesson instruction).

Ground training

Ground training must also be accomplished and there are several ways that it can completed. For more information on this please call.

-Applicant must pass a written, oral, and flight test administered by the FAA or a Designated Examiner and the end of training to earn a pilot license.
