Welcome
My name is Ms. Salo, and I’m a Certified Tutor with the Barton Reading and Spelling System.
What does that mean exactly…
It means the developer of the Barton System, Susan Barton, certified me herself.
I am one of eight, certified tutors in the state of
I specialize in teaching students with reading, and spelling difficulties,
Students who struggle more with spelling than reading,
Students who struggle with math,
Students who have trouble writing, and even tying their shoes.
Why did I put math and tying your shoes?
Because they're all connected. The visual, kinesthetic, auditory, and tactile. Where you have trouble in one, you may have difficulty with another.
This system utilizes a multi-sensory method that embraces these senses as it teaches.
The Barton system is Orton-Gillingham influenced, and was designed for children, teenagers and adults with dyslexia.
The system contains all 5 essential components of Reading Instruction required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
This program will improve the spelling, writing, and reading skills of all struggling students – dyslexic or not – as long as their IQ is above 70, they speak English, and they can pass a ten-minute Student Screening.
