Enjoying a relaxing day on the bow
One of my most recent fishing adventures took me to the shores of the historic Red River in Selkirk Maitoba Canada.The Red river is a slow flowing muddy river much like the Misissipi River.It flows North (Yes North)from North Dakota meandering its way North through Winnipeg(Manitobas Biggest city 40min drive from Selkirk)ending up flowing into Lake Winnipeg(one of North Americas largest inland fresh water lakes)The Red is full of trophy Catfish Wallye Whitefish Perch Drum and many other fish species.On this Trip I was Fishing for Big Cats I arrived at my spot at 4am and set up my gear which included a 6ft rod with 10lbtest quality line pickeral rigs which are bait hooks that have two large hooks each with 6inches of line 1ft apart with a heavy weight 9inches from the bottom(bought at local stores for 49cents ea cdn)large Night Crawlers also localy available.After baiting my hooks with some fat crawlers I cast my line out and waited.I didnt have to wait long till a 15lb Channel Cat bent my rod over (when Channel Cats bite they take your bait and run like a freight train!)after a 10 min fight I had em.The rest of the morning went well 8 Cats over 10lbs.I would recomend fishing on the Red River to everyone.Manitoba is a great place to visit as well with lots of attractions.For more detailed info on trips and maps please sign up for my news letter its free !
