Extra Information:

In late 2013, First acquired a further four shorter Streetlites for use on Portsmouth route 2, connecting Paulsgrove with Cosham, Copnor, Eastney, Portsmouth and The Hard. These have been supplemented with further buses based at Hoeford depot, after changes in the PVR for route 2 meant that Hilsea required a greater operating capacity. In September 2015, three (47419-21) were withdrawn from Hilsea and moved to Southampton. These were branded for City Red 10 service, and have now operated from every Hampshire depot in their short life. The 2 is their primary route; however, if PVR allocation is at 100%, it is not unusual to see one of the Streetlites on the X9 or 17/18, and on Sundays, they even make their way to Fareham on route 3.

Recently acquired at Hilsea are five '14' plate examples that were new to Hoeford. These have moved over to boost capacity at Hilsea with route 2 duties being transferred over from Hoeford.

History / Notes
53065 YJ58CEV Optare (M850) B28F New to First in Berkshire in 2008, to Hilsea in July 2015.
53140 YJ05XOP Optare (M850) B26F New to Hilsea depot in 2005. Also in service at Southampton depot.
53206 T77TRU Optare (M950) B33F New to Truronian. Ex-First Devon & Cornwall (2012). Previously in service at Southampton, Weymouth & Yeovil.

Extra Information: Hilsea operate a mix-and-match batch of 5 Solos. 53151 was the first to arrive, brand new, to Hoeford in 2003. 50277 and 50278 then came from First in Bradford at the end of January 2004, again initially to Hoeford depot. All three buses were rotated around Sainsburys routes 51, 52 and 53 in their early days. However, in 2005, the Sainsburys contract was dropped. 53140 was acquired in 2005 along with the upgrade of route 45A to low floor Solo operation, but with the ever growing pool of low floor Dennis Darts available, she has been a bit of a wandering nomad, spending three independent spells at Hilsea and two independent spells in Southampton. However, following the loss of the S1 contract in Southampton, both 53140 and former Truronian 53206 seem to have found Hilsea as their home. These primarily saw action route X9 (City - M275 - QA Hospital - Waterlooville - Denmead and hourly to Hambledon) until earlier this year, but now can be found predominantly on Portsmouth city services, such as the 13, 14 and 15, apart from the the more powerful and larger 53206 which is still found predominantly on the X9.

These were joined in August 2015 by three from Slough, which seem to have replaced three shorter examples that have moved on to Southampton.
