More Information: Empress Road had operated two batches of Volvo B7TL double deckers. The first was a batch of 15 new in 2000 with Alexander ALX400 bodywork, bought to improve services and replace Leyland Atlanteans. These buses have been branded for "Metro" routes 5/5A/11/11A in the past, along with "Overground" routes 17/17A, but now all wear ordinary fleet livery. All also have had their original dot-matrix displays replaced with LED displays. Now, only one remains in Southampton, with the rest transferred away to Swansea and Weymouth

The second batch, acquired in 2007, was part of the final delivery of Volvo B7TLs to First before the Volvo B9TL was introduced. These buses are the youngest double deckers at Southampton. These were the first buses to receive the refreshed livery. They tend to be operated on route 6 between Hamble and the city centre, although two have been branded as the allocated buses for the Marwell Zoological Park routes.

More Information: There have primarily been three batches of Tridents in service with First in Southampton. The oldest three, the W reg examples, were new to Bristol and now operate around the city as reserve buses. 32704 and 32706 can occasionally be found on city services, while 32705 is a dedicated private hire vehicle. The second was a batch of '55' plate ADL Tridents new to First in Barnstaple, which moved to the south coast when their original depot closed. These have now all moved onto Hoeford. The final batch was a variety of 2002 Tridents new to First London with Transbus President bodywork, which can be found on any of the non-City Red routes. Since then, they have been joined by older former Essex Tridents, such as 32810 and 32855.

More Information: In late 2013, as part of the wider Southampton fleet upgrade featuring brand new Enviros and cascaded 4-year old Volvo B7RLEs within the same year, Southampton received 9 Wright Streetlite 10.8m DF buses to upgrade city services. The first was a '63' plate batch, initially used on route 1 between the city and Lordshill. However, these have since been redeployed on the City-Thornhill service, branded as CityRed 10. This batch now also features three buses which were new to First at Hoeford. These were joined a few months later by a '14' registered batch. These buses feature three generic "City Red" branded buses which can be found anywhere on the network, but the majority of this batch are route branded for the 2 (Millbrook) or 11 (Weston). Finally, the most recent batch to arrive in the city are 11 '15' plate registered examples, which can be found on route 7.

More Information: There are a number of Mercedes-Benz Citaros across the Hampshire fleet, with 8 of the 10 are allocated to Southampton. Presently, the two at Hoeford are also over at Southampton, meaning the whole type is allocated to the city. Originally, the Citaros replaced Volvo B7RLEs which moved to Bath, amongst other buses. These are primarily found on the 8, 9 and 12, but can pop up as a substitution on other services as well.

The first were 4 new to First in West Yorkshire, acquired from Plymouth depot. These are in fleet livery and can be found on the same routes alongside the Citaros - the 8, 9, 12, E1, E2, and dropping in on other services when required. Secondly, the '09' the Three Volvo B7RLEs were all new to Hilsea for route 40/41, but now operate the last remaining First Southampton cross city route, between Thornhill and Lordshill.
