On 18th October 2004, our little baby finally became a 1 year old boy!!! *wipes tear from eye* they grow up so fast!!! Seriously, I can't believe a whole year has passed & instead of a baby who does nothing but eat, cry, poo & sleep (not necessarily in that order) we now have a VERY active 1 year old crawling about and destroying the house. We can't believe how much he has changed & what he has achieved, collecting many teeth (like putting your finger into the mouth of a piranha) onto baby food, then solid food, then our food, going from lying down, to rolling, to sitting up, to crawling, and to standing & walking holding our hands. AND, not to forget the talking!!! now we can hear the attempts of words, mum mum & da da, and other various nonsense only he can understand. I can't say he has changed our lives really, enhanced them - yes, given us a reason to smile (except at 3am in the morning) and it feels like he's always been with us.
Anyhow, back to the special day. We had a small party - grandparents, great grandmother, uncles & aunty(in the process...), honourary aunty (my cousin vicky - but much nicer to be called aunty), and also some close friends. It was mainly an adult affair, as Finlay could hardly understand it was his birthday - just that alot of people were there & he was centre of attention - and that he had lots of presents & paper!!!
Of course, there was a 1st birthday cake - candle blown out with the help of mummy... and lots of finger food which Finlay was able to enjoy too.
We started mid afternoon, and continued until Finlay went to bed - bout 9pm (being a special occasion, was allowed up late) and I feel it was a lovely day & very special to celebrate with all the peopl important to Finlay. Unfortunately his god-mother & one of his god-fathers couldnt be there, but i'm sure that they were thinking of Finlay on his special day.
