In other V|GO news, the beta testers have been continuing to test the mod and have taken the time to produce these screenshots. The first shot on the left features marines capturing a village, to the right is a flight of F-4's overlooking a patrol. The bottom left is an attack on a beachhead and to the right is a village checkpoint.

Check back often, and look for a special Christmas surprise.

New beta team announced

The second group of beta testers has been anounced. The team consists of:

They will be contacted by email or PM, and must respond by Friday 17th for instructions. As of now, the mod is at internal beta 0.2, and the new village logic has been implemented. Villages will be essential, they provide money for the player once the supply docks run out. In addition, there will be a moralitiy system, as shown in the following diagram from the site:

To capture a village, you must capture the Master Hut and then have $2000 worth of units within the immediate area of the village. You will be rewarded with $600 every 30 seconds for achieving this.
If your forces leave the village, money will stop being supplied to you from that village, regardless if the master hut is captured. The more villages you control and occupy, the more cash you will receive. Larger maps contain more villages.
Moral System: If you attack a whorehouse or village structure, villages will refuse to provide you with money for a length of time depending on the building ( a warning will flash up ). If an important structure is destroyed, the villagers will rebuild it eventually - so it's not the end of the world. This will encourage players to think strategically in liberating a village from another player, lest their supply of money is hindered. You will not be able to garrison village huts since the morality penalty is involved with huts being attacked. Other civilian buildings and structures you will be able to garrison and attack (without morality penalty) that are not part of the villages.

Things are rolling along as the beta testers finally get their hands on the mod and the final day of media arrives. The first screen is of the M102 towable artilery in its deployed position. It has a long range but low field of view so you must have a forward observer to use it effectivley. Next is the B52 bomber , modeled and textured by John Rambo. It can be called in by the Marine Force Recon unit. Finally is another screenshot of that red hot napalm. Try not to get to close.

As testing continues, more groups of beta testers will be selected so cross your fingers and sign up here.

As final preperations for beta testing continue, the team has released two new screens to tide us over. The first is the U2-R spylane, a higher level ability that comes from off the map to take pictures of the target area. In addition, if shot down, the person to find the U2's black box will be able to see the other teams base. The second shot is of a napalm run over a small village.

For today, the team has released two new screenshots of the redesigned airfield and M113 APC. The old airfield only had room for 4 aircraft, but the team decided to increase that to 8 due to how much the USA relies on air support. The M113 APC was retextured by Lynx and features a door that opens and closes when infantry enter it.
 
Also you will notice in the top corner of the airfield screen, you can see some infantry.

Well folks, the time we've all been waiting for has finally arrived. Beta testers have finally been selected, and testing will begin Monday, October 30th. For now, teams will be small, but as time goes on they will gradually increase. Beta Team 1 includes:

Winners will be contacted by email or PM for further instructions. In addition to this great news, the team has released two new screens. They show a flight of Hueys passsing over VGO's custom jungle trees.
 
Every day through monday will see the release of new media so check back often.

Revora and all hosted sites were hacked over the weekend by what appears to be Arab Extremists targeting "western sites." No doubt they view Revora as part of "Satan America" even though the Revoran community is made up of people from around the world and has no affiliation with the United States Government. This is unfortunate, as events like this seem to only enforce the stereotype of how the world views Arabs. VGO Hacked

Wow, can you believe this? Weeks before the mods release and it appears the mod site has been hacked. From the look of things, it appears the sites been hacked by terrorists (allthough it's probably some retarded hacker). This could cause serious problems for the mod and its release. Just take a look at this picture or their site. It also appears that all of revora is down aswell. If you have any comments, post them below.

Allright people, we've finally got an update. First off, we have some beautiful particle effects created by CBroidy8888.  The first screen is of the A-1 dropping 250 lbs bombs. Second is the F-105 and the 500 lbs bombs. Both planes will also have the option to drop napalm. Third is the new Patton fire effect.
Next is another particle effect created by CBroidy8888, a new missile effect and smoke trail. In addition to all of this, AultN8R has modeled the NVA Officer(commands the NVA Squads).



And here's something you all have been waiting to hear.AntiSocialKindaGuy, has been working on codeing for the Pegasus release and believes private beta testing will be ready to begin in October. Be sure to signup

Allright, AultN8R has just completed two more units for us. First off is the NVA Sharpshooter. The team wanted to represent a women in the mod, so the NVA sharpshooter will be a women. She will be armed with an SVD Sniper Rifle. She's also stealthed when not moving or crawling, and can lay down to increase her range and accuracy. The next unit is the Mechanic. He repairs and rebuilds damaged and destroyed vehicals and is armed with a TT33 side arm.

Allright, I've got a great update for you guys today. AultN8R has just churned out the three men who make up the NVA mortar team.  They all act as one soldier with one of them aiming the mortar, one who carries and loads the mortar, and finally the spotter. They are able to deploy anywhere and move when needed. They will be valuable for their ability to move around and suppress the enemy. Don't leave home without one.

Stick with me here because AntiSocialKindaGuy has worked out a working sqaud dynamic for USA fireteams. This new system allows for quick and easy moving and shooting while still alowing the player to command individual soldiers in the squad. These squads are very flexible and can be customized for different situations such as anti-tank squads and defensive situations. More details and videos will be released soon with more information on this great feature.

For todays update, we have screens of the NVA infantry fresh off the battlefield. Modeled by AultN8R, the first one shows the basic NVA infantry. The middle is the RPG soldier and to the right is the RPG soldier upgraded with the SA-7. Behind the scenes, AntiSocialKindaGuy is working on perfecting the infantry code.

For todays update, weve got the NVA Incinerator modeled by BombProofVest. Next is the NVA Bunker and Barrier modeled by ScreamingCricket. The barrier is made of dirt, stone, and wood.  The bunker is a corner for the barrier and can be garrisoned by troops.  The VGO team is growing so expect more frequent updates.

For todays update, we have a picture of the USA sandbag bunker modeled and textured by ScreamingCricket, which will be the corner of the sandbag wall. To the right is Nuka5's map Dong Hoi Costal. Artillery, aircraft, and beach assaults will be important here.

BombProofVest has finished the ZPU4 Anti-Aircraft gun and it's looking good.  Men will be required to opperate it while it's deployed. However, kill the men and it's yours for the taking. The next two images are screens of the four player "Outposts" map, by Nuka5.




Below are some screenshots of the six-player map "Jungle Delta" created by Screaming Cricket. It was designed with Naval warfare in mind and includes beaches to assualt and towns to capture.

Cameos are being added to their NVA section.
AntiSocialKindaGuy
is trying to fix and improve the game code. 
NVA models are being steadily completed.
The Hydra release is being finalized.
Planning for the Medusa release has started.

Two new units to show today are the US U2-R and the NVA T-62 tank.  The U2-R will cirlce the map a few times and leave the battlefield revealing all enemy positions.  If shot down, the side that recovers the black box will be able to see their enemys base.

Thanks to requests from some of the fans, a screen shot of the UH-1 and the Cobra has been realesed. The second screen shot is transport UH-1waiting for troops to load its troops. The infantry currently show a hoard bonus but this may change in the future.
 

The last screenshot is of the AC-130 Gunship. BombProofVest has created a Field Hospital that will be much like the Urban Hospital, only it will look more appropriate for jungle settings.


Other News:

AntiSocialKindaGuy has joined the team as the Primary coder and work has begun again to get the beta realesed. I'm thinking we may see a realese in the next few months. I was sort of close with the update prediction so we will just have to see how things develop.

I've noticed some problems with the screens and their links. I'm working on fixing them now but if you find a problem with them or anything else in the future, tell me about it at probowler2004@hotmail.com or leave a message in the guestbook and I'll get it fixed.
