In the fight against fundamentalist religion we are up against:
1. The phenomenon of religion itself.
2. Religious people who insist their way of thinking is the only right way.
3. People for whom science and higher education are suspect.
4. People who trust nothing but their own trusted authorities for all of life, death, and the afterlife.
This combination raises questions on every level of human existence. Sociology of Religion and Anthropology of Religion are two systematic approaches that help us study and understand how religion "works"--or its role--in the life of humans. Philosophy, theology, and science are other disciplines that inform and describe human existence. It is imperative that we use all the tools we have at our disposal. The articles on this site, some of which are no more than elaborate forum posts, seek to address this need.
