Foundation for Fighting Fundamentalist Religion

Grandpa Harley's Cornucopia of Christian Links

Despite the title of this page,  the content is serious.

I have been a student of Judeo-Christian religions for the majority of my life.

This comprises some of the best, active, web content I have found in the past decade of serious research into the nature and history of the Christian religions.

I wish the researcher luck, since history is written by the winners, and the Greek mystery schools of Christ won in no uncertain terms.

Bear in mind, that Greco-Romano philosophy is not Aramaic thought.

I wish you well in your searches.

Biblical History, Resources and Philosophy

Biblical knowledge is an essential when dealing with the fundamentalist. You not only have to know it as well as they do, but also the historical context of the piece.  As an example, it is all well and good knowing Chapter 3 Verse 2 of Thessalonians verbatim, if you don't know who the Thessalonians were, or the approximate date it was written and the political landscape of the time!

This section therefore is probably the largest I have accumulated and represents the best of Bible Portals, Exegetical sites, and Historical Resources that I have found to date.

One thing to remember... If the researcher needs a quick, unbiased overview: WIKIPEDIA IS YOUR FRIEND! It may not have the best reputation, but it is readily available, and I have not yet been let down by the open community of Wiki.

Here is my collection. The links I've used most are in red.

Anglo-Catholic/Episcopalian Resources

Anglo-Catholicism is, by and large, pretty amiable and tolerant for the cults of Christ. In parts, its congregation can be Unitarian or even bordering on Neo-Pagan (I know one Episcopalian Priest who discusses problems with the North Wind and makes offerings to the Goddess at certain wells. The locals call him Myrddin and he's pretty universally beloved by all segments of his small community).

The "problem children" of the Anglican Communion are the African Churches, who have a fundamentalist stance closest in form to some of the Charismatic and extreme Baptist sects of protestantism.

The bulk of mainstream Anglicanism is bracketed by the likes of Bishop John Shelby Spong  at one end and Anglo-Catholics who come close to revering the Pope at the other.

Here is my small collection of Anglican resources

For the interested I'd recommend getting on to John Shelby Spong's mailing list. He usually has something interesting to say in his Q&A mailings.

I'd recommend his books too, if you have the disposable income...

Coptic and Eastern Orthodox Churches

The Wiki on the history of the Coptic church. is a very solid resource and has some good reference links.

I've not had much direct experience with the Orthodox churches. However, they are largely of late Apostolic succession and share some of the communion with the Roman Church.

Here are the links that I have collected. They are partially reference, and partially a study of the Iconography.

Encyclopedia Coptica: The Christian Coptic Orthodox Church Of Egypt
Peshitta Aramaic/English Interlinear New Testament
Byzantine Icons: A Guide to Byzantine Icons, Frescoes and Mosaics - from Constantinople to Macedonia to Russia and around the world.
Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America
My intent it to give the researcher a flavour of this particular collection of sects.

Cult Resources

Nearly all the sects of Christianity exhibit some, if not all, of the salient features of a cult. This is more pronounced in the fundamentalist movements, with social limits placed on members, recommended book burnings and the like.

Thus it would be remiss not to have  references on cults
