Fibromyalgia sufferers are often told "there is no known cause or cure" for our illnesses. This is NOT TRUE and we should not just accept this and give up!
While there is no one single thing that causes or cures ALL people with these illnesses, there are hundreds of causes out there (see the list below of triggers or misdiagnoses of fibromyalgia).
No doubt there are hundreds of cures as well. We each have to find the one that is the cure for our own personal illness. For some, the cure involves diet changes, for others it will be medications or lifestyle changes. It will be easier to find the cure if you work out what the cause is.
Fibromyalgia is a SYNDROME, which means that it is a name for a set of symptoms with no known cause. However, there must still BE a cause, we just don't know what it is yet.
A lot of us later find out that the cause was lyme disease, or mercury poisoning, or mould toxicity etc etc, the list goes on. Those who find out what the cause of their fibromyalgia is are then able to treat the cause appropriately.
A diagnosis of fibromyalgia or CFS should not be seen as the final stage. You have not found the answer yet, this just gives you a starting point and an easier way of describing your symptoms to people.
Please DO NOT ACCEPT THIS AS YOUR FINAL DIAGNOSIS. Continue to try to discover the cause of your symptoms. They are not caused by fibromyalgia; that is just a name that describes them. Work your way through the list of causes below - and contact me via the "Contact Us" form at www.diagnosesupport.com (where this list is regularly updated) if you know of any more that I can add to the list - and hopefully one day you will narrow it down and work out what the cause of your own personal illness is.
Keep on searching, there is still hope of finding the cause and cure for your symptoms.
